Quackity sat in his chair currently streaming right now, he seemed like he was having a good time from your spot on his bed. You were currently laying on his bed after he invited you here to relax.

You two had laid in his bed just enjoying eachothers company until he got a call from Tommy saying he was ready for the lore stream which sent Alex into a frenzy. Alex sent out a quick "Im sorry" about the lateness of his stream and then quickly set everything up.

He then started to stream which left you alone on the the bed to your own devices. You were scrolling through Twitter looking at Alex's fans talk about what's happening on the stream and posting screenshots of his character and himself.

You admired him from afar as he ended the lore part of his stream, he took time to type on his phone to text you that he decided to stream longer to talk to his fans. He looked to you and you have him a nod with a smile and he gave one back.

"Hey guys! That's the end of the lore!" He exclaimed to his chat as he types at his computer setting a new background.

You continued to listen to him praise his chat for supporting him and making him be able to make those types of streams. You were always proud of Alex no matter what he did, you were always his number one supporter no matter what happened in reality or on the internet.

"So anyways! I wanted to talk to you guys! How are you all?" He smiled at his camera looking back and forth from his chat.

He felt so overwhelmed, he shouldn't have began to stream again. The stress of putting everything together, plus being late to the stream made him rush into it more. He just wanted to lay back down with his lover who was enjoying watching him stream, and that's the goal he wants. His goal was to entertain, it was his job and he doesn't want to fail, he doesn't want to crack.

Right now it was hard. It was hard to keep up when there was always a constant demand, the constant need to be perfect, his past being brought up, and trying to one-up his content everytime. He loved this, but at the same time it had the same weight as a job.

In the back of his mind he knew the "When is Quackity streaming???" is mostly lighthearted, he never wants to leave.

"Quack are you okay? Im fine! Just thinking about how to get something to eat at 2am." He laughed lying to his fans, he wanted to stop this stream.

He kept looking over to his lover lying their head on his pillow scrolling through their phone and alternating their vision from him and their phone. He always caught a glimpse of their small smile everytime he looked. He was doing something right.

"Do yall think Taco Bell is open? The only problem I have is that Im fucking starving."

He paused for a moment taking a deep breath trying to keep his emotions down. The stress was getting to him, and he fucking knew it, but he didnt stop. He was going to get burnt out eventually and stop streaming and YouTube all together, but he needed this. He needed a break, he needed to take time for himself and stop putting on a happy face when he isnt.

The truth is, my biggest problem's you,

Your eyes widened as he mentioned Twitter. Truth be told he was trending because of his stream, yes, but also they brung up stuff from his past again in the wake of another content creator's past or present being brought up. You hadn't paid attention to that, you were only getting fueled up from Twitter bringing up an issue that he already had addressed.

Tempted to speak and tell him its fine, he already spoke up before you.

"I bet it's fine! I dont wanna... I don't need to look." He said with a smile. He always had that smile on.

Either it was a full smile or a half smile. It never left his face and it comforted you somehow. Maybe it was that you were his significant other, but you always wondered if anyone saw the same things as you. The things like his smile that never left his face.

"Yeah! I dont need to look at that." He waved his hand dismissing the comment away. He then sighed letting his shoulders relax as you saw his smile fade and his eyes close for a second and immediately put that small smile back on his face while his eyes were glossy, but bright.

He needed to end this stream soon. You saw his face fall then in a split second come back to life except his eyes were glossy with tears. You wondered if anyone else noticed.

"I want to please you

I want to give you the night out that you deserve"

His eyes tearful as he tried to blink them away trying to not make a scene.

"Sorry! Allergies ugh!" He said as he wiped his tears away claiming them as allergies.

"Are you crying? No! Im not a pussy!" He yelled at his chat in a joking manner.

He was crying and he felt weak. He felt emotionally weak, and weak as in not strong, he didn't feel strong and his lover who was sitting on his bed with a concerned look on their face always told him that it's okay to feel weak. The only meaningful thing is how you pick yourself up, they always told him, bur now he felt at rock bottom.

He wanted to give his fans "himself", the goofy, lovable, loud, quick-witted, Quackity. But then again his lover always told him to separate Quackity from Alex. He wanted to give himself to his audience, he wanted to be authentic and share himself, but he cant. Alex isn't all laughs, he is serious, calmer, and when he gets on the screen is when he lets it all out then goes back to his more calmer self. That's not what they want.

"But I want to say what I think

And not care what you think about it"

Giving himself meant dialing back, he wants to tell how hes actually feeling, he wants to say what he thinks about Twitter, what he thinks about certain friends, about his fanbase, and then leave it alone. He wanted to delete social media and then speak his mind without knowing what anyone is saying about it. It was paradise to him, but of course it cant be that way and that's what he hates. He feels like a actor when he really wants to be himself.

"A part of me loves you,"

Alex loved his fanbase, he had such a supportive fanbase that loved his content. Some of them did atleast he didn't fully know, but they gave him the courage to do this time and time again knowing that his content is at least taking them from the harsh reality of real life for a few minutes or hours. This was the reason he did this, for them.

Alex would never admit this but they boosted his ego too, it would for anyone. The fact that there were people who wanted and enjoyed content from him made him feel good about himself.

"part of me hates you"

He hated the contant criticisms, he hates that they feed his ego so much that it makes him want to stream more to feel good about himself and to make people get away for awhile. Alex knew inside of his heart he couldn't truly hate his fanbase, they gave him everything he ever wanted. He hates them for that and that's such a scary thing. He never fails to wonder if he did the things to deserve all the love and hate he gets.

"Part of me needs you,"

They feed his ego, they make him want to go above and beyond. Alex knows that his fanbase is the reason he is here in this chair infront of three expensive monitors. He knows that this is some sort of a job that he needed. He needed the push to keep going and that was them, it was the 200k people watching his stream watching him answer questions about him and

"part of me fears you"

He was fearful of loosing himself to them. Loosing his authenticity to them was something he feared. He didnt want his funny, loud persona to consume him and make him forget about Alex instead of Quackity. He fears what they think as well, he claims he doesnt care, but he does he wants to please them. It feels like two parts of his brain fighting about if he should care or not.

"And I don't think that I can handle this right now"

The text-to-speech bot continued to speak out people's comments that theu paid for while he sat there quietly. He bit his bottom lip trying to not break down infront of everyone he needed to be strong. He needed to be strong.

If he looked up at the camera everyone would see his tears, they would see him breaking.

He played it off as he brough his shirt up to wipe the tears away, claiming it as sweat.

"Im good! Im sorry I spaced out for a second." He shook his head.

He saw you look at him with that same concerned look on your face. As he switched his gaze between you and his computer, he felt his tears come back again.

"I don't think that I can handle this right-"

"Alex." You tried to get his attention.

"Yeah guys Im fine!"

"Alex"

"I have plans later for another lore stream, so Ill start doing that later tonight."

"ALEX!" You yelled and his head turned around to face you.

"What?" He laughed, biting his lip again.

You couldn't stop him doing this, you could try to course him into going to bed, but right now you couldn't find the words. You just stared at him while he looked at you with a somber smile trying to tell you that he was okay.

He felt his mind telling himself that he need to rest. He wouldnt allow himself to and thats why he was breaking down.

Alex was blinking rapidly trying to keep his breathing and tears at bay while he answered his fans.

You had sent a quick text to Alex which told him to end the stream for his own mental health, but he left the message unread. He began sniffing and the wiping his eyes again. It was a wreck and you couldn't seem to stop it without literally dragging him out of his chair.

Meanwhile the screens were getting to Alex. Alex's eyes were getting tired of the bright screens and the rapid messages that popped up on the screen overwhelmed him for what it seemed like the first time ever in his strraming career. He wanted to give them the fun night they deserved and wanted, but he knows it's getting hard to. He dosent know how long he can keep this up.

As Alex kept joking around about his eyes and physical state the chat was filled with "LMAO" and "HAHAHA" which fuled him more and then at the same time makes him want to stop.

He cannot give himself the luxury of happiness. As he went on with his career it became more and more like a chore, there was mostly down days and of course there were up days, but recently Alex gave his fans the happiness and laughes they wanted while when he turned off the camera he couldn't replicate that same energy as he had before.

It messed him up, he felt himself become separated from his streaming. He wasn't being himself anymore he was being Quackity and that became more apparent as the days passed. He wanted to be himself on camera and at first thats what he thought he was doing. He was himself then it turned into a persona.

Alex wasn't okay and he he needed to take a break from the internet for a while, but he tries to act like he dosent have a dilemma going on inside of his head everytime he sits in this seat. Its for the fans.

"Think that I can handle this right-

He looked towards you again where you moved your position from the middle of the bed to sitting up on the end of the bed.

I should probably just shut up and do my job, so here I go"

"Cant you belive them!" He laughed to his camera. You scoffed at his comment but still kept an eye on him as he talked.

You didnt need to baby him at all, but right now you were worried about your lover.

Alex continued talking and talking, which you drowned out. You were focused on his face and how he faltered time to time just showing a small frown.

He laughed and showed them a good time even though he was hurting. He kept going and going and you were convinced he was going to hold out until you heard him sniff multiple times while trying to make a joke about the new Minecraft update and how the glow squid has no use.

"Stupid ass squid! Why- why? Its no use expect for glowing ink. Who voted for that!?"

You can tell them anything if you just make it funny, make it rhyme

"Dumbass squid!" He pulled up a picture if the squid as he yelled at it.

You began to worry even more as you saw tears running down his face. He quickly tried to wipe them away, but he knew everyone saw.

Alex leaned back in his seat and had a blank stare towards the monitor. Looked down for a second and then you heard sobbing coming from his spot. Alex had his head in his hands and was crying harshly into them.

He had finally broken, he couldn't stop the tears from coming and the loud sobs that came from his mouth. He was trying to desperately breathe in to be able to sob, but ended up hiccuping while doing so.

Your eyes widened as you rushed to him resting your hand on his knees and you kneeling infront of him.

"I cant do fu-fucking anything!" He yelled into his hands.

"Hey! I know. Its okay." You tried to console him.

"Its not I try so hard! And I-"

You cut him off. "You are a hard worker Alex and you deserve a week or two off. Take care of you self babe." You stood up bringing his hand with you and trying to make him stand up. He followed your movements and stood up with you putting his head on your shoulder crying into it.

"I just ca-cant right now!"

"You dont have to do anything right now babe."

"Im sorry!" Alex sobbed.

"Dont be." You said bluntly trying to get your lover to calm down.

You rubbed his back soothingly as he sniffled into your shoulder. "Im sorry for ruining your shirt." He tried to laugh through his tears.

"Dont be sorry! Please. You just need rest okay?" You kissed his forehead and he nodded in response.

Alex raised his head up an started to pepper kisses all over your face as you laughed. He gave you one last peck on the lips as he walked away to quickly change into night clothes. You smiled as he laid underneath the covers and continued to softly cry into his sheets. At least he was in bed and not makijg himself even worse.

He couldn't stop the tears from flowing, it was like a flood that could only be stopped with time. He felt like a boulder was lifted off his shoulders only to be replaced with smaller rocks. The smaller rocks was the guilt he held. He felt guilty of making his lover worry about him, he didnt want you to worry.

You rushed over to his desk and turned off the stream and his computers not even bothering to give them a goodnight or goodbye. After the computer lights were turned off it was quite dark in the room except for small light.

Finally you were where you wanted to be all day, in bed with Alex. But this wasnt the predicament you wanted.

"Forgive me. I just cant do shit right can I?" His eyes were still full of tears and he was getting tired.

"Alex dont listen to anyone but yourself." You tried to console him.

"That's what I'm telling myself."

Silence filled the room as you looked at him through tearful eyes of your own.

"Alex, you're so amazing and I cant even tell you how much I appreciate you, and how much you change my life. You do so much shit right its scary sometimes. Some days I think you're perfect, but there's-"

"There's no such thing as perfect." Alex finished your sentence.

"Exactly! Even the best people have their downfalls, they just dont show it. And Alex I know you struggle with that! All I can say is that I love you for you." You finished.

"Can I talk to you about my dilemmas?" He tried to laugh again.

"Tomorrow we can talk. We both need the rest." You said to him as he closed his eyes and nodded in response. He gave you a kiss on you lips before laying back down to sleep.

If Emmet never captures Ingo in a pokeball, then that means he's technically considered a wild pokemon. Normally, the system is pretty simple. If a trainer captures a wild pokemon in a pokeball, then they now own said pokemon. They legally have the right to take that pokemon away to wherever they want. Oh I'm sure there's some sort of laws you could turn to if a wild pokemon you were close to was taken against its will, but I doubt it'd just get resolved within a single day.

That pokemon is the legal property of the trainer who caught it, until officially proven otherwise. And any attempts made by any other trainers (or subway bosses) to take that pokemon back away from them without permission would be considered theft.

I see where you are going with this anon and i love it. I think a lot of people assume Ingo is captured so they dont even try (like how team rocket never try to use a pokeball on pikachu i think) it just makes sense ya know. Plus i really don’t subscribe to how pokeballs work and wanna redo the whole concept of them lol. So my personal HC that i 100% didnt make up for this au is that pokeballs work on pokemon because of their souls resonating with the material used to make them. Hence Ingo cant be captured. Though his body is capable of going into a pokeball it would never catch. Which causes him some uhhh lets say discomfort to put it very very lightly. Now that doesnt mean we cant enjoy the idea of this. I can play with this lmao.

This is going to be a veru long on! I got very distracted while making this reply so uhhh sorry but im bot making it in two posts because part two posts take me forever to make and since you asks for it im gonna make sure you get it!

Now we know pokemon dont just capture, even if they’re hurt. I like to think its a will of mind kinda thing so Ingo isnt going to be easy. Whoever is trying to capture him is gonna really have to spend some time chucking pokeballs at him to wear him down. Sure they can fight him and weaken him a whole lot. And if they didn’t want him to “faint” they could just attack him mentally but trying to break his strong will. Maybe theres a sure fire way that no one uses cause its unethical and kinda hard to do. But what if they just lock him up alone in the dark for a day or two. No one is ok after that. Though i just got a better idea.

They use Emmet to break Ingos will. Attacking Emmet till Ingo agrees and lets himself be captured. It has such *chefs kiss* potential. Emmet trying to get Ingo back who keeps getting hit by pokeball after pokeball. They baddies of this decided they are tired of Emmet and use their team to stop Emmets advance. They notice how Ingo reacts and then a DING they get the idea. An attack strait at Emmet who cant move. A scream. Ingo is being held back. “You can either come with us or watch your trainer suffer.” Emmet is yelling for Ingo not to do it, another attack, another scream, and that shuts him right up. Ingo cant take it. (Ya see Ingo never wanted to be captured because he was afraid he would lose something inside of himself and never be able to return human) Ingo doesnt care if he cant be human again, letting Emnet get hurt isnt worth it. So he looks at the man and nods. Emmet shouts and begs but Ingo just looks at him, making sure to engrain his brothers face in his mind, Ingo says goodbye. Then POP, Ingo is pulled into the balls, Emmet just lays there watching as it rocks back and forth, till finally it clicks. Tears are rolling down Emmet face. He doesnt know what to do. He just lays theres frozen and stares at the ball till the baddy picks it up, smirking. Emmet begins thrashing about “you have been a big help to me subway boss Emmet but i dont need you anymore.” Then the poachers use a pokemon to knock Emmet out. They leave him there, and take their prize.

Emmet is found by Elesa. Hes passed out and injured but she managed to get him some help. The first thing he he said was “wheres Ingo!” It all comes rushing to his mind and he quickly rushed to get up to find his brother. Elesa tried to hold him back but Emmet isnt having it. He knows Ingo only gave up and got captured because of him. He has to find Ingo he cant lose him again not again. He cant be alone again. Elesa does manage to calm him down enough to get him to understand that she isnt trying to stop him but help him. She doesnt want to lose Ingo again either, Emmet isnt alone in this. So they set to work. They get police involved, after all more people searching the better. Maybe rangers too?? I feel like rangers are a good help here too sincd i think in the game they didnt “capture” pokemon yea? They wanna like protect them? Im gonna skip the searching and what not (no fun no fun) and jump right to them finding out the poachers sold Ingo. They find the guy who now owns Ingo and try to talk to him about it. The man aint having it. He tells them that he is the owner of the pokemon and he paid a lot of money for it. Emmet offers to buy the pokemon back but the man said no. Then Emmet all but begs to see Ingo at least. To which the man agrees. “Make your last goodbyes then, because i am not giving this rare one up.” When The man sends out Ingo, Emmet rushes and hugs him. Ingo is just so happy to see his brother again. Yes they are sobbing “as touching as this is, wrap it up i am a very busy man ans i do not have all day.” Ingo clings to Emmet, a small whimper escaped him. Emmet hushes him and tells him its gonna be ok he will get him back. Well now the man doesnt take kindly to that remake. He returns Ingo to his pokeball, yes right out of Emmets arms. And has Emmet thrown out of the building. Ok then Emmet has to do tis right. If he doesnt follow the right legal steps then Ingo is as good as gone so he gets started. He of course has an ace up his sleeve. The medical records. He has proof Ingo is his brother and not a pokemon.

That can be what gets the information public. That Ingo is back and a rare sneasel. Its from the court case. Though the man probably backs down legally when this is brought to light. He knows an L when he sees one.

Ok i gotta stop it here cause i gotta get dress my roommate is waitin on me for pokemon going. Lmao. Pokemon going to then polls xD i hope this is the response you wanted for this i know i get sidetracked. And i do hope i made it worth the wait. This aks just did emotional damage when i got it xD

Hmm so we have four-episodes-slash-two-arcs of season three left... sounds like plenty of time for an attempt at the Big Final Heist they’ve been working towards, with room for everything to go wrong but then they rally and are successful, end of story!

but...oh right they are being hunted by dark matters. pretty relentlessly, huh. and oh well there’s that little matter of peter’s debts... that we were pretty solidly reminded of out of nowhere at the end...

one of these plot lines isn’t getting resolved this season, is it?

Dark Matters and Peter’s Debts are so excruciatingly at the forefront that the Big Heist - thats the reason they’ve banded together in the first place - has basically become the damn framing device for the other two,

Tools of Rust was During the heist and Jet happened to be in the right place at the right time, but it was about Jet confronting his past and his approach to healing oh and they ran headfirst into dark matters

Shadows on the Ship happened the night AFTER the heist and was about a) distrust of peter (smartly disguised as vespa reconciling her rampant paranoia with living a dangerous life where she also needs to be paranoid) and b) DARK MATTERS AGAIN

just based on how kevin and sophie pace the plots, how chock-full and focused each ep is, i think we’ll maybe have time for two plot threads if they tie together and one will be the hook for next season.

Peters Debts:

story tropes or something wise, i’d say the last two episodes would be crime family vs dark matters, racing for the cure mother. (or more likely DM waits for the family to get it and then gets THEM bc rita. told them. the entire plan) and then in the last minutes we’d get a mirror of final resting place with peter taking the four targets and running out.

but ‘show constantly throws obstacles for why couple can’t get together yet’ is really tired trope and i kinda don’t feel like kabert would just pull it. plus it would completely reset all juno and peter’s progress bc juno’s had. shit relationships. and this show is all about love doesn’t conquer all you gotta work for the ones you love but that’d be quite the thing to recover from AND they’d need a really strong reason to run after peter, because juno’s been hurt a bunch already and i doubt jet would care and b+v are about to retire so “because i LOVE him!!” doesn’t seem like enough.

maybe if like,,, peter left a “be back soon” note and junos like “daww” but then it cuts to peter being dragged off in chains by Mr. X so season 3 they’re trying to find him again... idk

Dark Matters:

it can’t be the dark matters plot that gets pushed into next season because they are chomping so hard at the carte blanche’s heels that it’s like trying to outrun a freight train. i doubt they’ll solve all of dark matters, but the confrontation is Immanent.

Curemother:

for the Curemother plot to be pushed into next season, we’d need some kind of big complication that will justify another round of story around it. and also sOME KIND OF CLUE AS TO WHO TF MR X IS because kevin gives us clues. we can technically figure every part 2 out ourselves bc the pieces we need are always there! AND THERE’S NO ONE IT COULD BE unless its goddamn mag again but “he secretly survived” would be less of a solve and more of a coin-flip, “do you believe kevin or not for no real reason“,

for this route to be the one they take we need a Lot of elements to be established in buddy’s episode. a lot of name drops of other bad guys who could have been hounding peter for 20 to 8 years. something that tells them they wont be able to get the curemother within the year, so peter panics. or maybe his creditors decide they’re sick of waiting and come collecting.

ive had this personal theory since man in glass, that they’d come collecting in the way of either kidnapping juno or rita to leverage peter and the other would absolutely flip out on him. it’d be good shit, but maybe its why i am biased to this thread getting resolved this season.

but they introduced it in the first episode!! and they slapped us in the face with it in ultra bots!

another reason i don’t think the curemother will be solved this season is just how unlikely it seems they’ll just find this magic alien panacea, but we’ve been so focused on other aspects of the story that we haven’t had time for the wrench in that plan to appear, beyond m’tendere flat out saying they had no idea what was in their safe that cannot be opened and accessed.

so maybe it won’t be in next season, but i doubt it’ll be “solved” properly. gosh this was long. if you got to this part ily

edit: i forgot that buddy and vespa want to retire after the curemother heist. but i dont think it’ll work out. but vespa absolutely cannot keep doing this. so maybe they’ll retire anyway and pass on the torch and it’ll be sweet bc buddy is choosing her wife over crime

Request: i am afraid to ask ive been having a bad time lately with body image. i was wondering if you could write me a tony stark story of him trying to convince his fiancee that just cuz shes bigger than pepper that the reader is ok to him and her view of herself is wrong? its ok if it takes a while. i dont wanna be pushy. please and thank you.

Being engaged to Tony Stark came with many privileges, you were aware of that. Sure, he was difficult sometimes, mostly when he was in a creative mood and entrenched himself in the lab, but other than that the only problem you had with him wasn’t even his fault.

You couldn’t say it was yours either, self-deprecation aside you knew damn right the issue was deeper. You’ve heard and much to your dismay thought unkind things about yourself over and over since you could remember, in the good days they didn’t matter, but in the bad ones they hurt more than you wanted to admit.

He didn’t know, of course, you found it too dumb to address it. In your mind, you would bore him with a talk about your self-esteem. As you looked down, your eyes caught the ring on your finger, such a beautiful piece of jewelry, obviously custom made due to its size— and perhaps also due to how over the top your fiancé was.

Rhodey had said he and Pepper helped Tony to choose it, something that unknowingly to them caused you mixed feelings. You knew your fiancé would never cheat on you, you trusted him, you trusted Pepper whom you considered a friend too, but you didn’t trust yourself.

You didn’t believe to be what he deserved, or what he needed. How could you when Pepper was right there? Her, so pretty and smart, so assertive, and strong, and independent— and thin. Pepper was everything you wanted to be, many times you wondered why Tony had even fallen for you when he had a woman like her before. She would be a prettier bride, a better wife, Tony could show her off in ways he couldn’t with you.

“Ms. (L/N)?” FRIDAY’s voice filled the room.

“Yes?”

“Mr. Stark wants you to give your input on his new project.”

Tony, God bless him, would often ask what you thought about his projects and updates, sometimes he’d even present to you the issues he was encountering as if you were as smart as him. Any other day you would have laughed happily and amused him, but today you weren’t so sure to be up for it. You could try, though. Telling the AI that you’d be there in a moment, you unconsciously looked down at your body as you stood up from your spot on the couch.

You listed every flaw you saw, the ones that Tony could clearly see too. He wouldn’t have to see those things with Pepper, he would only see her beautiful smile and her slim body. On your way to the lab, you went through said list again, finding more flaws. There were issues in every single one of them, flaws in the flaws, issues in the flaws, true nightmares in the form of things you so desperately wished to change.

The door was unlocked for you, the AI probably having told Tony you were on your way there so he’d grant you access before you could punch the code. He was alone except the bots, pieces of a suit scattered on the table he was sat in front of.

“Honey, hi!” he greeted, too chirpy to not have drunk more coffee than the recommended amount a day.

He explained his new idea in details, you knew because he was moving his hands while speaking. Every word escaped you as you stared at his slender fingers that fit perfectly with your chubbier ones. Pepper’s weren’t like yours, they probably fit his way better. He went on, probably thinking you were following his ramble or far too into it to realize your eyes were welling up with tears.

Why was he even with you? Pepper was a better option in any way. She knew how Stark Industries worked, how much space he needed and when, what to do to get him to take better care of himself— she was such a force to be reckoned, and you were just you. Everything that made you interesting was in front of you, his warm eyes fixed on your face.

You didn’t see him stand up, or walk toward you. You only reacted when you heard him call your name softly, in that tone he reserved for his loved ones, when he wasn’t wearing the facade he had been forced to show to the outer world.

He asked FRIDAY to check for injuries on your body and you could only shake your head. “I’m fine, Tony.”

“You’re crying, baby.” His hands rested on your arms, prompting you to focus your gaze on his t-shirt to not cry harder. “Did something happen? Is everyone in your family okay?”

God, he was always so nice, so kind that you couldn’t believe him to be real sometimes. “They’re fine.”

He rubbed your arms, up and down, something you often did to him when he was going through the aftermath of a panic attack. “Then? Did you watch that movie again? The one with—“

“Why are you with someone like me?” you interrupted him, supposing it was now or never.

Tony looked taken aback. “Because I love you.” He then turned serious, almost stoic. “Did someone do something to you? Did they say anything?”

“No!” You moved out of his grasp. “But I can’t stop thinking that you’re making a mistake, Tony. Pepper is right there,” you pointed to a random part of the laboratory just to put some emphasis.

“You don’t want to marry me?” he asked, hurt lacing his tone.

You bobbed your mouth, “of course I do, what kind of question is that?! But Tony, be realistic, I’m not Pepper. God, I’m nothing like Pepper at all. I’m not skinny, or blonde, or—“

“Is it what this is about? Your body?” You nodded in response. He approached you again, taking your chin between his thumb and index to lift your face. Your eyes found his, warm brown orbs full of emotion staring deep into your soul. “You know? I don’t like how harsh you’re on yourself,” he said softly, clearly meaning it. There was no intention of being pushy behind his words, only the truth.

But for you, the truth was what you had just said, and when you let him know that, he shook his head. “Tony,” you groaned, “it’s fine, I’m fat and we both know it.”

“But there’s nothing wrong with it and it looks like you don’t know it,” he countered with that matter of fact tone he liked to use when he knew he was right. He continued talking, “you’re not Pepper, you’re not anyone but yourself and that’s why I want to marry you because you’re are you, I love you.”

You opened your mouth to fight him on it, yet Tony being Tony wasn’t having any of it. He shook his head for you to stay silent and asked FRIDAY to type some notes on everything he had worked on that day.

He took your hand, guiding you out of the laboratory and toward the living room where you had been sulking earlier. You sat beside him, looking down at your shoes that suddenly were very interesting. He shifted, pulling you closer by your still intertwined fingers.

The position you two ended on was a little uncomfortable, he was fully on his back on the couch, hand twisted to not let yours go as you tried to place your weight in the correct way to not crush him. He chuckled at your attempts.

“You’re not going to squash me,” he assured you. You didn’t believe him, he knew. “Honey, there’s not a single thing wrong with you or your body, why can’t you believe me?”

“I see myself in the mirror every day.”

“Well, then maybe your eyesight is not as fine as I thought, but that can be fixed.”

You snorted at the joke, he breathed a laugh. “I’m being serious.”

“I am too, and I don’t want to hear you say those things again.” Seconds later, he seemed to understand how his comment could’ve come across because he clarified, “I don’t want you to feel like that, that’s what I mean.”

Humming, you tried to come up with something to ease his mind. In all fairness, you didn’t want to feel like that either, you just couldn’t control it sometimes. Bad days were heavy, they overpowered the good ones no matter how great those felt, you wanted to be able to go through the bad ones without doubting yourself so much. Explaining it was tougher than thinking about it, than feeling it.

Tony didn’t need you to explain it, though. With a kiss on your forehead, he mumbled, “we can talk about it later.” His free hand came to rest on your back, trailing up and down in a steady motion. You breathed in a little deep, humming again.

How much time passed you didn’t know, the truth was that his reassurance had been of a lot of help. By the moment you spoke again, you both were getting sleepy. You didn’t want to fall asleep without thanking him, though.

His answer? “I simply told you the truth.”

It was just announced to me and the manager (the only 2 full-time employees), that we have been bought by another call center that is not located in our town. Today I was involved in a horrible collision.
