willow, what is your relationship like with writing? what got you started and passionate about it and what makes you continue to want to create?

oh what a question !! hmm !!!

my relationship with writing is hard to describe ! it's always been there for me, always something i could return to no matter how long i've been away from it, something that i have held in my heart for as long as i can remember. the earliest i can recall wanting to write is maybe third grade or so ?? i specifically remember stealing the notebooks we had in class that we, as students, were supposed to share LOL and i would take them home and write stories in them and then lose them and then go back to class and steal more LOL

i think that i just enjoy playing with narratives ! getting to change them and explore them ! take myself places i can't physically ! this sounds so cliche, but there is just such adventure in writing and no matter where i am, i can always turn to it for comfort. escape, etc, etc.

i don't think.....i know how not to create, tbh, and i mean that to my own detriment akfhfhaf i can't just. not. i can't consume any kind of media without thinking to myself, "how would this look if i did it ?" or "what would i do differently ?" or "whatever feeling this is giving me, how can i explore it down a different path ?". from the time i was a kid, i think i was always "self-inserting", in maybe the way that many of us do now: it wasn't necessarily me i was putting into the star wars universe or lotr universe—or totally spies or powerpuff girls or mass effect or pokemon or twilight—it was just a more idealized version of me, that was all the things i would want to be in said setting, and then i would remorph the story around that character ! i dont know if that makes me self-centered or a narcissist or what but LOL i can't help it !

i think what makes me really passionate about creating right now in my life is community ! all throughout my years in school, i lived in pretty small towns and the friends that i had didn't have these same interests as me—we had some, just not these; like anime and video games, etc—and so i was very alone in getting to explore the way i wanted to explore—and now i've found a place where i can do it with lovely people who share the same love and excitement that i do, about these characters and these worlds 🩷✨
