i do actually think the fact that buffy and angel supremely fucked over giles and jenny is such an interesting and painful thing that happened especially because i really don’t think either buffy or angel recognize the gravity of how much damage this did to giles in particular. buffy i think is understandable because a lot of the time i feel like she either doesn’t quite Get that giles is a person with an interior life rather than an adult there to support her OR she gets it on a really big level and shies away from it due to her loving him and hating how isolated and miserable he is, but angel is kinda just like.....square up, sir

#my brain is on this now!!!!!!#i feel like the narrative fabric of buffy & angel's relationship #would have been strengthened if the way that they ignored what happened to giles & jenny was intentional #like that this is a Big Starry Teenage Romance and Nothing Matters More #but the juxtaposition of their perception of the relationship #next to the reality of what it did to the people buffy cares so much about #creates this really interesting little footnote that says ''hey. maybe this is not that great''#''maybe romance isn't romance if it means that your s/o is the Only Person Who Gets You''#''just saying''#meta #(this blog is gonna become more polarizing as i watch and start to have opinions again HELP)
