it makes sense but it's kinda funny that film & tv stopped using roman numerals for copyright just as the numbers started to get more manageable. something like 1988 is absolute hell in roman numerals (MCMLXXXVIII)--try making that out from a crappy tv signal recorded onto a damaged VHS tape!--but 2005 actually uses fewer characters than hindu-arabic numbers (MMV) and 2016 doesn't look too bad (MMXVI)
