#i have severe ethan brainrot

Text
you inhale deeply, lightly patting your wound with a washcloth. there really shouldn't be any reason for mindy's voice to be ringing over in your head "be careful with him." she'd told you before you left to go back to your boyfriend's dorm, seeing as your apartment had turned into a crime scene. the drive there had been in complete silence, save for ethan occasionally checking in on you. it's been silent between the two of you since you'd seen him, truthfully.
it's silly, really. to even think about it. especially considering the implications of what it would mean to you. to your relationship. shrugging off whatever ill-intended thoughts that swarm your mind, you glance towards your boyfriend. and yet you can't help the worry and suspicion that settles like a weight in your chest.
ethan must have noticed the way you're staring at him, because the next thing he says takes you by surprise. "why are you looking at me like that?" he asks quietly. "do you think i'm the killer, too?"
you can't prevent the underlying tone of worry in your voice when you finally muster up the courage to reply, you don't even know what you've said until you hear the sound of your own voice ringing back in your ears. "i don't know what to think," you say, your voice barely above a whisper. "it's just- it's... you keep disappearing every time something happens. where were you, e? i needed you with me. and you weren't there. i was stabbed- i lost anika. my best friend died infront of me and you weren't there."
ethan's face is a mask of cold anger, though the softness you've been familiar to for the past year still glimmering in his eyes. "i told you angel, i was at econ. and i'm telling you again, i didn't do it. you have to believe me."
"after everything that's happened... after last year with sam- i'm just not sure what to think anymore. with everything that they're saying... i just-" you pause, cutting yourself off. this isn't even a conversation you want to be having right now.
a long beat passes before ethan speaks up. "they? who is they? mindy? anika? tara? i'm so tired of being accused of being the killer. what's to say those bitches aren't the killers themselves? huh?" although he keeps his composure, his tone is laced with venom. you've never heard him talk like this before.
"i just feel like i don't even know who you are anymore." you whisper, letting go of what you had held back from saying a moment before.
"that's a shame," he says, leaning in closer to you. his tone completely different, it's as if something had shifted in him within a few seconds. "because i feel like i know you better than anyone. in fact, i know everything about you. your fears, your desires, your weaknesses...all of it."
"that's...unsettling," you say, pulling away from him.
"oh, come on," a grin spreads over his face, his tone dripping with implication. "don't tell me you don't find it a little bit exciting. the idea that someone knows you so intimately, someone who's willing to do anything to be with you..." he trails off, his eyes darkening. "it's kind of romantic, don't you think?"
"no, it's not," you say, voice shaking. "it's sick. i don't like the way you're talking to me, ethan. you're scaring me."
"am i?" ethan says in a low scoff, barely audible. "you should be scared, sweetheart. you have no idea what i'm capable of."
you can barely register what he's saying. is this some sick twisted game to him? is he being his usual sarcastic self? surely not- not after what you just went through. your mind is drowning in endless vivid images of your boyfriend brutally murdering innocent people, your friends, your loved ones. this is the man who you've spent every sleepless night with for a year now, the man who you've devoted yourself to in every way possible, and in his own words, a man who knows you so intimately- in ways which you don't even know yourself. "what are you going to do?"
"nothing, as long as you behave." a twisted smile spreads across his face as he eyes your wound, his voice so low. "though that says otherwise, hmm?" he laughs. he actually laughs. "believe me, i never meant for it to happen, princess. but you just had to try and protect anika, and i thought you were mindy- god how i wish it had been that bitch. though i figure she got her warning."
you can't speak. it's as if every fiber of your being has shut down. ethan reaches out to tuck a piece of hair behind your ear, and you let him. you know you should be screaming, shoving him away, running even. but you don't do any of those things. instead, you stare at your boyfriend as he towers over you, accepting the fact that any second now he'd make a move to hurt you. but ethan let's out a soft chuckle when he takes in the expression plastered over your face. "oh my sweet dumb thing. i love you, remember? i'd never hurt you. don't worry, baby. i'd sooner die before i let anything happen to you ever again."

dredge au (me AGAIN):
fr ur giving me dredge au brainrot and i need to finish this fic but this THIS is the best au:
Richie makes it to the islands, and makes his way to the Collectors house, following the directions given to him by Amber. He knocks on the door and—wait… he knows this man, has seen him in articles that his family kept around their archives.
This is the man that made Christina Carpenter’s family fall into disrepair, this is the man that she slept with, unwedded, cheating on the man she was betrothed to. He senses something… off, but it only draws him further into the allure of this place.
What are the odds, really? That Sam and his Prize have made it to the same place that this Collector, that had so readily ruined the reputation of a formerly reputable house? That they’ve made it to the same place that Sam’s FATHER is?
There’s something off about this place, as he goes around, asking for information on this new fisherman and her sister. He receives several warnings, ‘Don’t go after them. There’s something wrong with the older one, almost as if the sea has a soft spot for her.’ ‘she’ll kill you for even trying to get close to her little sister’ ‘the sea doesn’t take kindly to those that would harm it’s Chosen.’
He ignores it, of course, his greed blinds him, his lust for power. The Collector offers to help him, in exchange for the location of one Sidney Prescott. He gets close to finding her, before the night falls, and he sees a boat in the distance. And is that? No, surely it couldnt be THAT easy? But Sam and Tara are on their way back from Blackwell island, and he thinks of the warnings, ‘never stay out at night, otherwise you wont make it back in the morning, beware of the fog’
But here they are, sailing without a care in the world, expertly avoiding— wait are those rocks just appearing in front of them??? what??? But Sam avoids them, expertly weaves her way through a maze that only she can see.
He forgets about Sidney (i wonder how the collector will feel about that) and pursues them to the dock of greater Woodsboro.
and then— oh. this got a little long, didnt it? apologies. you have ruined me with this au.
DON'T STOP, you're spoiling me. I genuinely made that first post for only myself and thought no one else would be interested lmao. You're the one ruining me. You're literally writing it for me at this point, my beloved.
The journey is uncomfortable, the sea doesn't agree with him. His crew are seasoned seamen who snicker at him behind his back. His brother, Ethan, joins him on the trip. He'd promised to let him play with Tara once he was finished punishing her himself. Ethan enjoys playing with his leftovers. The fucked up little beast. But he is his brother, and that makes him his. In a way, he can admire Samantha, for her dedication to her sister, for the way she stole her away from under his nose. Such dedication deserves reward, he'll keep her too, she can stay with her sister, patch up the pieces left of her once he's had his fun.
The sea holds no borders, and yet, he knows he's crossed one all the same. The air feels different, it makes the hair on his body stand on end. The sea becomes coated in a thin mist that swirls around the vessel. It creeps aboard the ship, it tugs at his clothes, slithers down his shirt and into his pockets. The ring around his neck becomes warm against his skin where before it had remained ice-cold. The mist recedes, and the journey continues.
He turns to his brother to remark on the event, only to find him passed out with a tankard in his hand. The rest of the crew are seemingly as unbothered. He shrugs it off.
First stop is Little Woodsboro, to reunite with the disgraced Freeman. Ordinarily, you wouldn't find Ritchard Kirsh of the Bailey's obeying the demands of a woman, but Amber Freeman is one of a kind, he finds. Uniquely... ambitious.
She points him in the direction of Blackstone Isle... after some payment, of course. She tells him The Collector will grant him safety in their shores, to pay him respects, to return to him that which was lost. It all sounds like superstitious nonsense to him, but that someone of such intelligence could look so serious and say such a thing, it makes him pause. He remembers the strange occurrence earlier... he decides why not, it's but a mere short sail away, and it will hardly hurt him to investigate.
The man is... unkempt, beard and hair wild and peppered with grey. He holds himself as a man twice his age. Yet his clothes are impeccable and of quality. The crest on his vest draws his eye, it seems so familiar.
The man is looking for a woman. "Aren't we all," he had joked. The Collector had remained stone-faced. "The girl for the woman," he offers. He takes the ring and blesses his boat. "Stay out of the fog," he warns. "It won't protect you from the fog, nothing can protect you from the fog."
It isn't until he's back on the water that recognition comes to him. It makes him laugh, long and hard. The sailors whisper about cursed waters and the madness. Perhaps there was something to Freeman's warnings after all, he considers, for everything to come full circle like this, what else can be at play other than the hands of Gods. The man who began Christina Carpenter's downfall, here. And here Ritchie is, searching for the spawn of such union, and her sister, at his doorstep.
~
They're on the water for three days when the men fish up their first abnormality. Better to catch their food than store it, the men had told them, so they've been fishing daily for their nourishment. None of the men will touch the creature, they contemplate throwing it back. Ethan, always the more adventurous one, demands it be cooked. He'll eat it, if the rest of the cowards will not. "How is it," Ritchie asks, disgust upon his face. "Slimy... yet satisfying," Ethan replies, dropping a tentacle into his open mouth.
~
Every hamlet and village they dock at warn him away from his search, warn him away from the sea. Go back home, they tell him. There's only death here. The fisherman? Oh no boy, you best stay away. That one is Chosen. The sea has claimed her, they say. You don't take from the sea. "It's the other girl, I want," he tells them, "she's to be my wife." "Not any more lad, the sea has taken her." "Her sister took her." "Her sister is the sea."
It's all utter nonsense. The fish must make them mad. (He's no clue how close he steers to the rocks of truth).
Sometimes they'll pass smaller islands, uninhabited by all accounts, and in the distance he'll see hooded figures on the rocks, watching him. He sees no eyes, yet they peer into his soul all the same.
A week into their search, the men are ready to turn back for Ingfell as the sun begins to dip in the sky. He tells them to keep going. There's sunlight yet left. He ignores the warnings of the night, or the shapes in the water that circle the islands just out of sight of shore and light. The men protest, it's too dangerous, we'll dash upon the rocks in the dark. A fog descends once the sun falls, they've been told. They'll not see where they're going, and no anchors are reliable in these turbulent waters. Their boat will rock and move and they'll be naught they can do to keep it still. Find yourself at a dock come night, or find yourself on the seabed come morning, they say.
He pushes them forward, and they sail in the direction of the Stellar Basin. There's a trader there, this week, he's been told. He's yet to meet the Travelling Reed woman, and he would very much like to hear what she has to say, to hear of the knowledge she must have.
Along the way, he sights a ship in the distance. It comes from the direction of Blackstone Isle itself, an island that none local will go to. That can only mean one thing, surely. His spyglass confirms it. In the brightness of the moon and stars above, he sights his very targets, laughing aboard their ship. They're not even steering it, allowing the waves to take it where they will it to go. Tara is leaning overboard, pointing to the water, and Sam stands close behind, a hand on her hip to steady her, and peers over her shoulder.
He's jostled as the boat tilts, the eyeglass goes tumbling overboard and he falls to the deck. They've hit something, the men yell. Standing up, Ritchie peers off in the distance once again, only to find that a fog has rolled in and his targets are nowhere to be found. He stands there, seething, as the crew rush around him, emptying the water draining through a hole in the hull, and hurrying to tar it up.

back from the dead to raise you: the poets swing dancing???? also ily & miss our shenanigans :")
knox is the worst and i'll die on this hill
he has absolutely no sense of rhythm
any partner he has probably, he approached and they thought he was cute so they said yes to dancing w/ him
they were absolutely mortified after accompanying his off beat clapping and probably spins his partner way to fast
pittsie and steven are dancing kings, it's already canon, so
gerard is crazy good
he can probably do the flippy upside down tricks with his partner and he can mambo like no one else okay
he may step on your toes but hey, at least he has a sense of rhythm
knox
meeks is just cute. don't know how else to explain it. but he's very :D the entire time
he definitely twirls his partner tons and would bring you punch afterwards
neil is a theatre kid. so.
obviously he's quite good
no this isn't biased shhh
idk if you've seen swing kids!!!! but!!!! robert sean leonard absolutely smashes it
neil has a great time although he may take it a little seriously
annoying and does a bunch of time steps and shuffle ball changes
charlie isn't the most skilled dancer but he has the attitude and energy that sells it
don't yell at me!!!! i'm right, and i said it with my full chest!!!!!!!
does a bunch of charlestown kicks and probably tries to make up his own moves
he knows all the songs too
cameron probably is the one of the best of the boys and has probably taken several classes
gent, always makes sure his partner is hydrated and having a good time, would give you his jacket too
todd is fantastic idk what else to say
at first he protests "no neil,, it's stupid >:(,, and i don't want to >:("
but he's so suave all of a sudden on the floor and for what
mr keating chaperones and teaches them how to dance, and also waltz <3
john probably pulls a minerva and has todd come up and demonstrate to the boys how to do the steps
current music recs:
build a problem- dodie. the lyrics and prose in her songs are just! so pretty and severely underrated. great to listen to whilst studying, her voice is very soothing and aesthetically pleasing.
blush- maya hawke. (hey look!!! it's robin buckley, and todd anderson ethan hawke's daughter) so full of soul, and her voice is so unique??? idk how to explain it, but her music feels like sitting in a sun room, with your cat in the summer while drinking lemonade. those are the vibes.
karaoke alone- the aubreys. so vibey man. brother is my current fave song of theirs, their sound is so different and cool? and it's another stranger things' cast member's music, so
holy ground- this song is one of the most superior on red, and remind me of your writing so much!
anyways, there's my current brainrot, ily! make sure to drink water, get some sleep, and eat smth <33
cass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ohmygod cass this is a certified Feast™???? your headcanons and shenanigans are always my absolute favorite, and it's only elevated by the fact that you are always 100% correct in aLL of your takes.
i will have you know, though, that i originally read this as line dancing and had to sit down for a minute and ask myself just when these rich boys would find themselves at a hoedown asdfghjhgfdsdfgh.
but swing dancing my absolute beloved!!!!!!!!! i'm actually horrible at dancing and don't really know ~how to do it~, but if anything were able to motivate me to learn, it would be swing dancing. just look at it!!!!!!
knox is terrible at swing, and all the boys get to tease him for it. his partner probably thought he was good too, and now he has to suffer through their polite assurances that it was fun! they had a good time! he wants to go scream in the woods. and i know we both hate knox (iconic of us, really) but imagine neil or someone like,,,, signing him up for lessons and he's mortified by the prospect, but then he meets someone really cute in his class who is leagues better than him (though still not great) and they learn together,,,,,, so sweet. you know knox looks at his feet 99% of the time, so when he's finally good enough to look his partner in the eye, they tease him about it and it's just some wholesome fluff,,,,,,,,
pitts and meeks are dancing kings!!!!!! asdfghjkhgfdsdfgh,,, it is my headcanon that pitts is like,,,, 2nd to most wealthy out of all of the poets, so you know he probably took dance lessons as a kid (and also..... i believe pitts has a sister and you cannot take that headcanon away from me, and you know he dances with her to practice or to teach her) and even though he thinks himself awkward and tall he's actually sO. GRACEFUL. on the dancefloor. and then meeks!!!!!! he has the presence. he has the pizzaz. he's going sO. HARD. and anyone looks amazing partnered with him. now i simply must have a fic where pitts and meeks sneak out to go to a dance club because it's one of meeks' favorite places.
UGH. swing dancing.
(but pitts doing the mAMBO,,,,,,, ASDFGHJHGFDSSDFHGFDS,,,,,,, I'M CRYING,,,,,,)
also,,,, neil is a good™ dancer, but he's not as good as pitts on the flips and stuff so you know he's constantly begging pitts to teach him. (also,,, neil taught pitts the mambo. it's canon now, sdfjkjhgfdsdfgh) and neil gives everything his All™ so rip to his partner because he's going to be doing the absolute most at any and all moments, and they're never going to get a rest.
charlie is not technically skilled but has the energy. yes, yes, i agree wholeheartedly. can you imagine dancing with him??? you'd be laughing so. hard. because "i'm pretty sure that's not how this works, charlie." "of course it is. i look good doing it." by far, he's the most reckless dancer, but you know he and his partner are just having the time of their lives and create such an infectious levity that everyone can't help but keep going, laughing all the way.
also cam!!!!!!!!!!! you know that charlie thinks cam doesn't know how to dance, so he makes fun of him for it, and then when the moment comes, cam is actually really good???? much better than charlie's technicality by a long shot????? the only thing charlie can say is that cam doesn't ~look~ nearly as good, and he's not having nearly as much fun, but also he's incorrect, and you know he convinces cam to give him lessons by the end of the night. cameron is just like,,,,,, fine, but it's a pity lesson. but then literally everyone knows it isn't because they're best friends what do you mean they have a falling out at the end of the movie i think you've seen a different version, shhhhhh.
and todd!!!!! cass, you are actually so correct about todd's demeanor that i actually saw his face and heard him protest when i read that, asdfghjkhgddfgh. but neil hypes him up so much and gives him a lesson or two and todd is actually pretty good???? he holds his own????? wow, love that for him. what marketable talents all of these boys have.
