recently terrace house, the twitch therapy sessions by dr. k, and just all the constant twitter drama. it’s so insightful and i learn so much from people’s experiences & perspectives.

recently there’s been league of legends t_s_m drama. pretty spicy stuff, tsm president leena was heard in the background of doublelift’s stream how nobody wanted to pick up dardoch.

very terrible pr nightmare. a lot of people made statements, big yikes :/ leena was like “oops yea the volume was too high”

nonono. u gotta do what jane said pr teams recommend — which is to just shut up!!!! think really hard about how you want to frame it & come off. show an understanding of the situation & show how you are going to change.

it’s kind of a dumpster fire. it’s because though the ROOT of the problem has not been dealt with. it’s just a fact that it IS a controversal conflict of interest that DL & Leena are dating and he’s on TSM now.

just shows the immaturity? of the esports scene. nobody knows what to do because this is all new stuff. and i’m not surprised that it’s not very professional. unless outright established, the professional boundaries between work and friends is completely blurred.

also i can feel the conversation of sexism & e-girls coming to a head. i’m very tired with the current status quo of women (what’s new). it’s just that a new dimension of media opens up and it ends up being kind of a similar thing where women are just hot. now they’re also funny. and sometimes good at video games. but they’re all e-girls. because they’re hot. and now i’m going to dehumanize them depending on what kind of stigmas i hold against e-girls and women.

the ceo of h2k, rich (known to be an asshole) straight up commented on how leena was an e-girl and basically, a hoe

it is just eye-opening to realize how the esports scene and so many people — even big famous ceos, even pillars of the community — are responding to this issue.

poor leena i feel for her though. i’m sure she’s in a lot of trouble & feels terrible.

the real issue is that blurred line between friendship and professionalism. in the esports scene it’s okay and normal to flirt with your coworkers, talk about private team info with people who it’s “chill” with, etc. the culture is causing problems.

i think the only way to make everyone shut up is by kicking doublelift off. but there is no way that is happening. i think tsm will continue what they want to do, handling each pr nightmare at a time lolol.

also makes me realize though... it all reminds me of when i wrote for la voz and i was the professional face of the newspaper. and damn sometimes people took that shit real seriously! there was real politics, dramas, harsh criticism lobbed at us, at the student senate, at faculty whatever. we always had to be actively responding to this community that took what we said seriously. sometimes in the office we were unprofessional but that could get us in trouble.

at the same time with this context i wish people would just relax. like the h2k ceo guy is obviously crossing the fucking line and should settle down. he’s just being an asshole & getting attention&validation from other assholes.

that’s what it is when you’re a public figure. everybody has their own fucking opinion. but you have to moderate your fans and community. help them grow to be good people. but sometimes it’s out of your hands. (the league community is insanely toxic, since the beginning.)

i genuinely believe these public figures are trying to be good people, and do good things. mistakes are, a lot of the time, just out of ignorance. not knowing any better. like you shouldn’t just yell at a noob in a game imo. especially if you knew them or they were your friend, you wouldn’t treat them like that.

i guess it’s just empathy. people haven’t been on the receiving side of gossip, mean comments, straight up hate. they don’t realize that the people they’re lobbing comments at are just sitting at their computer screen, feelin pretty terrible about all this shit.

yeahhhh so make sure you have a good local support system. don’t be afraid to seek therapy & help get all the really complicated issues figured out.

in the pokimane video where she was receiving therapy, the dr said “humans have two rights. to suffering and to death.” that’s so true. and a lot of the times when we are privileged and have so much in our life, we feel awful for ever feeling bad. and we feel awful if we’re not doing anything. we feel like we need to live up to these moral expectations, especially if a lot of people are watching us. i havent finished that video yet tho. man, people got so many opinions. didn’t ask for the feedback bro ! keep it to yourself.

in the cherdleys “making friends at a rave” video he was literally looking for a single friend the whole tiem. cringe, he was judt running around being like “will u be my friend pls” and finally at the end of the night , finally, a homie stopped by and said of course. and embraced him and was there for him. cherdleys was like “will you be my friend til we die,” and the dude said “bro we are friends even past death” and that gmfu. i just started crying at the video LOL. people are so cold to each other. which is totally fine Lol you don’t have to go embrace every weird stranger.

but when people do make an effort to step out, make a connection, and be there for you, not expecting anything in return. i really love that. that’s everything to me. i wanna be there for people too. sometimes being on the internet makes me really cold, and definitely influences me to be more judgemental and hateful. i’ve realized this before though, so i try to stay warm & doing what i want. but to forget about shit like appearances and being cool and normal, and just being human together. that’s what i love.
