Hello guys!!!!! Aforementioned project is finally finished 🫠 It was meant to be just a simple weekend project, and ended up being 30+ hours over the period of like four days. I don't think I'm an actual normal human anymore. This is the project that caused everyone in my life to question my mental and physical wellbeing and health. Delighted you asked this, since it gives me the excuse to share one of my top favorite posts about exactly that!!! I used @/TheQueerWithoutFear's addition in this post as a personal bible when starting out with art IDs! I think this post also has advice which is generally applicable to lots of comic IDs, since people can get bogged down writing every single detail of a piece when the broad strokes would do and thus detract from the overall comprehensibility of an ID. I also really appreciate this site as a great resource for examples on how to write concisely and with an audience in mind, and this post also lays out a lot of good tips! I'll round out this post with some general advice/guidelines:

Neither alt text nor caption IDs are better or even necessarily more accessible than the other; what matters is good formatting (so please don't put IDs below a readmore or use anything but plain text, use sentence case and primarily formal language, use brackets and "ID/End ID" formatting for caption IDs but omit them from alt, etc!)

For comics, especially long ones, I personally favor conciseness over strict fidelity to art, though this is highly subjective and depends on the piece and sometimes my mood. What I would boil this down to is that you don't need to include every detail in a piece to write a good ID, and using narration/prose is often more understandable than transcribing visual techniques (Ex: "She notices something to the side" is clearer and more succinct than "Action lines next to her face indicate she saw something to the side")

Organizing an ID's information in a top-down format is best for comprehensibility: start with who/what is featured (and where they're from, if applicable) and what they're doing, and then move on to background, style, and details

Like you can probably see on the slides I no longer have a scholarship for several stupid university sanctioned reasons, one of them being my age and the number of family members in my house having gone down 1 person (by all means you'd think this would obviously be worse financially but oh well lmao). However all I'm missing is the money for my last 3 months of my master's + some help for my mom's meds (this is one hell of a long story i know i won't even go into details dcbds) so what I hoped I'd be able to do was this to see if it helps some.

no explicit stuff pls and not because i'm against it it's just that skin takes longer to shade than clothes for me (stupid i know dbdvbhk when i finish my thesis i might go there)

If you're still doing requests. Maybe A small little drabble where Peppino is comforting the reader about family? My mom recently got into the hospital and I'm super worried for her. There's no need to do it if it makes you uncomfy. Still love your work friend.

“Ah, topolino.” Peppino murmurs, pulling you across the couch. You go limply, allowing him to settle you against his chest. His heart beats against your ear. It’s soothing. “It’ll be okay.”

The fear in your chest is a tight knot. It fills up your ribcage, forcing organs aside as it swells and chokes you of air. But Peppino is there, rubbing your back with his large, strong hands. He massages away the tension until you can breathe again, and you weep against him.

Peppino coos at the tears. He continues to rub you back, but rests his head to your own. Italian comes out of him, small comforts whispered against your crown as he holds you close and rocks slowly, side to side. The fear isn’t gone, but it diminishes in the face of Peppino’s warmth.

“I’m scared.” You admit to him.

“I’m-a here.” Peppino replies easily. His own anxiety swells in his chest, but your trembling distracts from it. He’s worried about you, about your crying yourself sick. So he keeps you close, despite how his heart hammers at your touch, and does his best to show you how you’re not alone. “Gustavo, he’s-a here. And he has-a Brick as well.”

You hum. The mentioned pair are kind, and no doubt will be there to help, should you need it.

“You need to-a eat.” Peppino mutters. “I can make-a you spaghetti, sì?”

“Per favore.” You reply, giggling when Peppino laughs. While slow going, your Italian is improving.

“So good!” Peppino praises you, though you know the pronunciation could use work. “Come. Help Peppino in the kitchen, sì?”

You nod. It’s a good distraction, following his instructions to create a wonderful dish.

Perhaps you’ll bring some to your mother tomorrow as well.
