okay I haven't seen anyone point it out yet and since they cut one or two lines from the manga maybe it wasn't as obvious, but Laios cooked those harpy egg omelettes for Kabru himself. We've only seen him (attempt) to cook one other thing in the entire series before this, but he didn't ask Senshi to do it, or if they had any leftovers. No, he wanted to cook for Kabru All By Himself.

mithrun's character arc is just like. sometimes what doesn't kill you DOESN'T make you stronger. sometimes what doesn't kill you leaves you torn up and shattered and struggling to function and nearly catatonic and in need of support. sometimes what doesn't kill you leave you secretly wishing it had finished the job. BUT life can still be worth living anyway.

and that means a lot to me.

You know that story with like, Evil Chancellor Traytor, who carried a poisoned dagger called Kingslayer, and went around cackling and being the textbook evil advisor? And in the end, it turned out the dagger had been entrusted to him as a failsafe against corruption, and all his muttering and scheming had been about expanding handicap accessibile low-income housing or whatever?

That's Kabru. Manipulative, controlling, with the training of an assassin, ruthlessly persuing his own agenda, which turns out to be .... to save as many lives as possible from the coming catastrophe. He spends half the story sounding like a power-hungry narcissist with good spin, but no. Turns out his "for the public good" bit was entirely sincere. It's a fucking delight. Top ten plot twists straight from a children's action figure political drama

I may be wrong and need to re-read the story, but I'm still a bit surprised and amused by the fact that Mithrun gives at first the impression of someone who doesn't give a flying fuck about the people around him, like when he just describes his team by their "utility" ('Scout', 'Werewolf') or the terrible deformed copy of Kabru with the shape-shifter incident.

And yet, he was able to info dumb so much details about his past relations to the point that Kabru found it "too complicated".

And during the story, he, he shows great analysis/intuition skills! Just a random thought, tho, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong
