OH had neglected to mention but I have finished Draft One of The Creative Endeavor!! And am now going to spend the rest of my life editing it lol, but if I finish it before I finish my disseration I'll count that as a win

#we are setting reasonable timelines we are being normal about things now #i've been going back and rereading it and it definitely needs A Lot of work but it's honestly pretty good!#have gotten a better command of the characters now and i did some things that really work #i listened to the master and commander (i.e. book one) episodes of the lubber's hole the other day #and was surprised to see that i had arrived at most of the same takes #(idk if you guys have noticed this but i tend to be wildly off in my initial takes on things and idk why it's just a brain quirk)#but they were talking about jack and stephen and james dillon and i was just nodding along #Anyways.
