Pope was so excited that it was the weekend. He had no extracurricular activities that day, and his only plans were to go out on the HMS Pogue with his friends and his new girlfriend. He woke up and was greeted by the sunniest Saturday morning he had seen in the long time and it was as if the stress and anxiety was lifted off of him.
He smiled to himself as he grabbed his phone off of his desk and checked his messages.
I can't come out today :(
Pope read the text message from his new girlfriend, they had only been official for about two months, and his heart sank. He let out a heavy sigh as he typed back a quick reply and changed into his clothes for the boat.
Pope couldn't keep the frown off of his face as he rode his bike to The Chateau. He had been looking forward to this Saturday on the water with the Pogues and his girlfriend all week. Sun, water and a pretty girl in a (hopefully) small swimsuit was just what he needed to get his mind off all this Royal Merchant and Denmark Tanny nonsense.
He hopped off his bike, letting it fall to the ground in the drive of The Chateau then stalked up towards the open door of the front porch.
"Whoa. Easy, Big Guy. Gonna break my door. You look like someone broke your project for the Science Fair." John B mumbled as he pulled on a t-shirt he grabbed from the back of the old couch.
"She's not coming." Pope grumbled as he sat down on the couch beside Kiara as she finished packing the cooler.
"What do you mean she's not coming? We've had this planned since like, last week. Stoked to finally meet your girl, man." JJ mumbled as he finished pinching the last bit of weed into the rolling paper.
"Says that she can't come out today because 'it has been a red dawn'. Whatever that means." Pope sighed as he turned his phone over in his hand, resting his head back on the couch.
Kiara burst out laughing, her hand over her mouth as she kept her eyes fixed on the cooler at her feet.
"What? Why is that funny?" Pope asked as he lifted his head up from the couch to look between his friends.
"She has her period, Pope. She doesn't want to come out because she has her period and is probably embarrassed to be around you and boys she doesn't know." Kiara replied as she looked over at the Heyward boy who still looked confused.
"Red Dawn, now that was a good movie." JJ stated as he put the freshly rolled joint behind his ear, and stood up.
"JJ." Both Kiara and Pope sighed as they looked over at the blonde boy.
"I'm just saying." JJ smirked as he adjusted his red hat on his head, then stood up and made his way over to the small television set on the other side of the room, crouched down and began to rummage through the small cabinet beneath.
"Well, I guess I'll just for two weeks after exams and prep classes are over. It just sucks because this was like, the one weekend she and I both had." Pope muttered as he rested his head back on the couch.
"Who says that you can't see her?" Kiara asked with a furrowed brow.
"Well..I just figured she'd want to be alone." Pope stammered.
"She's not a leper, Pope. And even if she were, she's your girlfriend." Kiara rolled her eyes as she swatted her friend's chest.
"Hate to admit it, but she's right. Take this and go see your girl instead. Boat will still here next weekend." JJ grinned as he walked over to Pope and handed him a dusty DVD.
"Red Dawn? JJ, I can't bring this." Pope held the DVD up to show the title back to the grinning Maybank boy, and shook his head.
"C'mon. She'll think it's funny." JJ laughed with a pat of Pope's shoulder before he made his way down the hall of The Chateau.
"Don't bring that." Kiara muttered under her breath.
"I'm not." Pope replied.
*
By the time Pope got to her house, still on The Cut, it was mid- morning and the sun was blazing hot. He dropped his bike in the empty driveway and wiped his brow with the hem of his shirt. He walked up the steps to the front door and knocked lightly.
"Pope?" She opened the door and greeted him in baggy sweat pants and an oversized sweater.
"Hi. I know you said that you didn't want to come out today, but I thought...well, Kiara thought..that you might want some company. And I thought that, too. But I didn't want to overstep and invade your space. But I guess I'm here now." Pope rambled as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other on the front step.
"No, it's okay. Pope, I'm really glad you came over. Come inside." She smiled softly as she took hold of his hand, lacing their fingers and pulled him inside the house, towards her bedroom.
"I was just going to watch a movie." She smiled as she sat on the edge of her bed and looked up at him as he stood awkwardly in the doorway of her bedroom.
"That's perfect. I actually brought you some snacks. I wasn't sure what you might be craving, I know you always flip flop between chocolate or candy. So I brought you both." Pope smiled softly as he walked slowly to the edge of the bed and sat next to her, pulling his backpack off his shoulders.
Pope opened up his backpack and pulled out one bag of Skittles and another bag of M&M's, passing them to her.
"You're the sweetest boyfriend, ever." She smiled as she pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"I do request I get at least a handful of the Skittles, though." Pope blushed as he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close.
"I can do that. Hey, what's that? You brought a movie?" She smiled as she pointed the the DVD that sat at the bottom of his bag.
"What? No, I didn't...damnit, JJ." Pope sighed as he rubbed his forehead.
She smirked and reached into the bag before he grab her hand to stop her. She looked at the DVD with a smile and read the bright yellow Post-It note on the front. JJ's unmistakable printing on the note.
IT WILL BE FUNNY.
"I'm so sorry. That was JJ's idea of a joke. He wanted me to bring this movie because of your text.." Pope sighed as he reached for the DVD.
"You don't want to show me the movie?" She giggled as she held the movie out of his reach.
"If you want to watch it, sure." Pope nodded with a sigh of relief. For once JJ's antics hadn't gotten him kicked in the ass. Especially with a girl he liked.
"Pop it in the player, it's over there." She giggled as she pointed the small television across her bedroom.
Pope smiled and did as was requested of him, putting the DVD in the old player. He grabbed the remote and walked back over the bed and laid with her as she already opened the bag of Skittles.
"Pope?" She asked softly as he settled against the headboard and fast forwarded through all the trailers and advertisements he didn't care about.
"Yeah?" He looked down at her, and he felt his heartbeat start to quicken. She was so pretty, and she liked him.
"Do you think you could rub my belly for a little bit? I have cramps, and they suck." She whispered as she rested her forehead on his shoulder.
"Really?" Pope asked as he slid his back down the headboard to be closer to her on the mattress.
"Yeah. Your hands are always so warm and soft." She nodded as she rested against him, her head on his shoulder as she watched the television.
"Sure." Pope smiled as he slowly, tentatively, reached beneath his shirt and pressed the palm of his hand just beneath her belly button and softly rubbed back and forth. He kissed the top of her head as she nestled into him even more.
"Thanks for staying behind from the boat to keep me company, Pope." She whispered against his neck.
"No need to thank me. I think I like this better." Pope replied softly.
"I don't know why JJ said we should watch this movie, though. There's minimal blood. Should have watched Carrie or something." She smiled as she looked up at his face.
"You're so weird. And I'm not watching Carrie again. Watched it once in the 8th grade because JJ made me, and I'm not doing it again." Pope laughed, his hand still running across the warm skin of her stomach just under her belly button.
"Oh, no. Poor little Pope." She giggled as she wrapped her arms around his midsection and pulled him close.
"Yeah, so if you want to watch horror movies you'll probably have to ask JJ." Pope replied as he kissed the top of her head.
"I will protect you, Pope." She whispered against his chest and held him tightly.
Pope felt content in that small bedroom with his girlfriend, the fan blowing straight on them as they watched that stupid movie JJ must has shoved in his backpack when he walked out the living room earlier. He supposed he owed him a thank you.
Maybe.

“Tom, have you seen this?”
It was the first thing Harrison asked once his best mate made it back to his trailer after long hours of shooting his first Marvel movie as Spider Man. Tom had left him there to wait for him to be done so they could go out and explore Atlanta together, and it seemed like Harrison had a good time doing absolutely nothing but going through his Instagram all day.
“No, what is it?” Tom sat next to him in the small couch they had, if it could be called couch.
“You know (Y/N), from that one band Harry is always listening to and you’re all obsessed with her.”
“Not obsessed, I just find her really pretty and talented.” Haz rolled his eyes and threw his phone on Tom’s lap.
“Well it seems like she’s going to be in town this weekend for a gig.”
And there it was, a simple Instagram post from that one account Tom have visited so much and liked so many pictures. The girl standing on a stage, a single light standing over her, who was holding her guitar and singing something, just like many other posts. But this one was different, and what was written below the picture was what made Tom open a big smile.
“@yourusername: Thanks for singing with me tonight DC, it was magical! Next stop: Atlanta. See ya’ Saturday.”
“Mate! We need to get tickets for this.”
“Hey, slow down Mr. Parker, you have work Saturday. You can’t simply drop it to go to a gig.”
Tom shrugged and his smiled faded away. Haz was right, he couldn’t drop work to go see a band play, even if it was his favourite band. So he dropped it for a moment, realizing he was too tired to mourn about it in that moment and that he had to get some rest for a long week of shooting. But he couldn't get it out of his head. So that night he had insomnia, and rolled in bed for a very long time until he gave up and got out of bed to look for some tea, and ended up scrolling through Instagram leaned against the kitchen sink. And she had posted another picture, one quite different from those she normally posts, where she’s on stage or rehearsing. This one she was laying on one of her bandmates lap wearing anything less than a Spider Man shirt.
“Shit!” He spilled some tea on his hand and had to drop his phone to clean it up. “I can’t believe this girl just got more perfect.”
The thing is that it happened with Tom what happens to a lot of people. They see a celebrity, and they find them super nice, funny and pretty and suddenly, they have a platonic crush on them. It happens to a lot of people, and it happened with Tom. It only took his brother listening to her songs on repeat and him enjoying some of them. He remembers asking whose song it was to Harry and him showing a video of her on stage. He’d been following her ever since, and he simply couldn’t believe he wasn’t going to be able to see her live, after admiring her for months through social media. But today he felt different about that one picture she posted, the one with the Spider Man shirt. The urge to comment on it.
“Okay, fuck it.” He held his phone again and commented on the picture.
“@tomholland2013: Loved the shirt, great superhero preference.”
Meanwhile, (Y/N) was chilling with some of her friend in her tour bus. They had finished a great gig that night and stopped at McDonald’s for some after show food before they could hit the road onto the next city. They had a lot of fun together, sang, took pictures and laughed together while having some burgers and some more food. But the end of the night, they were simply very tired. (Y/N) lied next to her best friend Amy and started interacting with some fans on social media, just because she couldn’t get any sleep. So going through some comments, she saw his. The guy who was announced as the new Spider Man just commented on her picture. Well, she noticed he had been liking her things for a while now, but it was the first time he commented on something. She had stalked him once or twice, and she already thought he was cute. So this time, (Y/N) replied.
“@yourusername: @tomholland2013 well thank you, and great spidey casting!”
Tom almost choked when he saw a reply to his comment, and soon a message on his DM. He needed to stop to breath and process what had just happened. But once he got it all together, he opened the DM and saw what she had to say.
“Hi Mr Parker, is Atlanta fun?” She asked, and he smiled at her message.
“Very very fun.” He said out loud while typing on his phone.
“So, I hope to see some webs around my gig this Saturday.”
“Sorry, I have work :c” He sighed while typing this one.
“Oh fuck! Not even a little bit for the encore?”
“Well, maybe just for the encore.”
“And some backstage meeting.”
“Okay :)”
“See ya’ Saturday!”
Harrison’s first action of the day was roll his eyes when Tom woke him up holding his phone in front of his face and rambling about running right after finishing work just to see her play. Haz thought his friend was insane, but on Saturday, there they were, rushing to some gig to finally meet the girl of his dreams. When they got there, it had already started and it was right in the middle of the set.
“I can’t believe you did this for a girl you’ve only known through photos. You’ve never properly talked to her.”
“I know, it’s just, I felt like I had to be here tonight.”
He couldn’t take his eyes off her during the whole concert. The way she held her guitar, or the way her body swayed while she sang. She looked just like how he had seen on Instagram a lot of times before. Those colorful clothes, a tie dye and light jeans, and a lot of glitter on her eyes. The ultimate alternative girl, just giving her all on stage. He couldn’t stop smiling, because she was just like he always imagined she would be. Funny, extroverted and really pretty, with such a stage presence. No wonder she and her band got famous quickly. They had a lot of talent, and everyone there could feel it. Once the gig was over, Tom went completely crazy over finding a way to go backstage.
“Maybe they won’t even know who you are. You’re not that famous yet mate.”
“Come on Haz, we have to try!” Tom approached the big guy standing between him and the backstage door. “Hey, I’m Tom Holland, could you please get (Y/N), cause I really need to talk to her.”
“Oh, I thought I’d heard an angels voice, but it was just you.” A girl said from behind them. “I was giving some autographs and saw you from far away. I’m glad Peter Parker got some time just to see me playing live.”
“I couldn’t miss it.” He smiled shyly and she stood her hand in the air.
“I’m (Y/N), by the way.”
“Tom, and it’s really nice to finally meet you.” They both stared at each other for a long time until Harrison cleared his throat. “Hm, and this is my mate Harrison.”
“Nice to meet you. Really great concert, amazing voice.”
“Thank you. Come on, let’s get inside and grab something to eat.”
They had a lot of fun around the band, getting to know each of them personally, and finding out that all of them were personally obsessed with one Marvel superhero, and that all of them loved Spider Man. That suddenly became a huge deal to Tom, to not let them be disappointed with him once the movie was out. That was also the night he got a picture he always dreamed of having. (Y/N) smiling at him while he was rambling about something, captured by the band’s photographer.
“Hey, can I have this one?” Tom asked while they were going through the pictures.
“I’m gonna post it on Instagram.” (Y/N) said. “I mean, I look so cute!”
“You always do sis.” Her brother said from afar, looking for some beer.
“Well, I think we need to go.” Harrison said. “We had a long day of shooting, right Tom?”
“Yeah, uhm… But I’m not tired though.” Tom said without taking his eyes off her.
“But you should go, Harrison looks tired and you do too.” She caressed his cheek and he smiled. “I’m gonna take them out and call a driver.”
(Y/N) followed them outside with one of her security guys and Harrison went ahead to find a taxi, and to leave some time for them to talk alone to each other, because he knew his mate needed to get more connected to her. He could see it while they were all together, the way they instantly connected. Tom walked alongside her while she finished a joke, making him laugh a lot.
“So you’re gonna be in Atlanta for how long?”
“One more day only, and we’re off to Texas.” She explained. “But hey, at least it was nice to see you around, even for so little time.”
“See, I have to admit something to you.” He glanced down to his feet and she kept staring at him in hope to get something out of him.
“What is it?”
“I’ve been following you for a while now, since my brother showed me your band. And I really think you’re amazing, and I have for a while.” She smiled to him and blushed hardly. He was being so nice. “And I really want to do something crazy right now.”
“How much crazy?” She furrowed her brows and he stopped, making her stop too.
“This crazy.” This way he stole a small peck from her lips, leaving her paralyzed.
“Wow.”
“Sorry.” He blushed immediately, rubbing the back of his head. Her hands went to cup his cheek and she pulled him to another brief kiss, but much more longer than the previous one.
“If you want to, I’m gonna be around for the whole day tomorrow, and I really don’t know many great places to have lunch here in Atlanta.”
“I know the perfect place.” He said with a smile on his face.
“It’s a date.” She caressed his arm and left one final peck before going back inside, leaving Tom with a dorky smile on his face.
“Come on mate, being paralyzed over there won’t make the moment last longer.” Harrison shouted from the taxi door.
“At least I had to try.”
(...)
“So, you got a date with (Y/N)? The (Y/N) (Y/L/N)?” Harrison asked in breakfast when Tom was trying out different shirts for his date.
“Yeah, is it so hard to believe?”
“Hmm, kind of. I mean, she’s super famous and you’re not that much yet.” Haz sipped his tea and Tom rolled his eyes.
“I got to meet her anyway, and we’re going out for lunch, and now you should be the good friend and help me pick something to wear.”
“Just go with the black one, and maybe a jacket over.” Tom nodded and smiled, going back to his bedroom.
“Thanks mate! See you later.” Tom waved and Haz rolled his eyes.
“Whatever. Get that girl!”
“I will.”
While Tom finished getting ready, (Y/N) was getting her makeup done by her best friend, Willow, master of makeups, drums and dating advices. She always knew what to say to people, and she had so many great advices and some helps for those going on first dates. Willow did a light makeup on (Y/N)’s face, much opposite of those she does for when she is on stage, and chose a black denim skirt and a yellow shirt that just matched with sneakers, and were the perfect casual look.
“Aaaaand… Ready for your date with the cute Spider Man.” Willow said once she was done with (Y/N)’s makeup.
“All of them are cute.” (Y/N) glanced up with a smirk on her face.
“Well, he’s the cutest.” Willow helped her stand up and lightly tapped her butt to make her go in direction of a mirror. “You look gorgeous, as always.”
“Shut up Will.” She took a look at herself in the mirror, sometimes slightly turning around to check if everything was good. “I have to admit, I love when you go shopping with me.”
“I know I’m that good of personal stylist.”
“And thank God for those makeup classes you took when we were in High School. I look completely amazing!”
“You always do.”
And so there were knocks on the door, and Willow opened it up, showing (Y/N)’s brother on the door, with a big smile on his face, as if he was about to laugh at his sister’s face.
“Tom’s here.” He announced and (Y/N) nodded, finishing gathering her things like lip gloss and phone to keep it on her purse.
“Okay, bye Will, and I’ll see you later.”
“Have fun babe.” She said, sitting back down, but smiling for her bestie’s happiness.
“(Y/N/N), come here.” Her brother called and she stopped midway to turn back to him.
“What?” She approached him and he hugged her.
“Just be careful, you just met him. But also, have fun.” He kissed the top of her head and she smiled.
“I will, I love you.”
“Love you too.”
Tom was waiting for her in the sidewalk, walking side by side, the most nervous he has ever been in his life. He always dreamed of taking this girl out, but never really thought it was going to be for real one day. Once he saw her walking towards him, he could swear his heart stopped and he forgot how to breath. She looked different from every picture or video of her on stage. (Y/N) for once looked like a real life person, and it made Tom breathless.
“Hi.” She said shyly.
“Hey.” He smiled brightly, making her feel so much more comfortable. “Did you have a good night after I was gone?”
“Sooo good. Like, we cleaned everything up and I watched a movie with Willow drinking hot coco and honestly, it was last night’s peak.” She provoked, just to see his reaction.
“Really?” Tom furrowed his eyebrows and (Y/N) laughed. “No other good thing happened last night?”
“Nope.” She shook her head laughing and he nodded. “Come on, I’m kidding. I had a very good kiss last night too.”
“Humm… Good to know.”
“Let’s go, I’m starving. And, dying to know where you’re taking me.” She pulled him by the hand, making him smile.
“It’s nothing too great, really. I just hope you like burgers.”
“It’s my favorite food.” She smiled and he reached for her hand, guiding her to the car he rented with Harrison on the second day in America.
It wasn’t so far away from where (Y/N) was staying with her band. They had a calm car ride, listening to good songs and having a nice and casual conversation. It was like they’d known each other forever, it was so easy to talk to the other, and it made their day so light.
Tom pulled over in front of a small cafeteria, not crowded, but with a really nice and calm environment. Perfect for a famous person who doesn’t want to be bother on her day off. The place smelled like good food, and there was some known rock n’ roll songs like Led Zeppelin or David Bowie playing on the background. The few people that were there were focused on their work, or the people that were with them, so no one even noticed two famous people coming in. Tom guided (Y/N) to a booth in the back, close to the kitchen door, a little far away from the windom.
“This place is so nice.”
“Yeah, it was recommended by someone on the studio. They said it had good food and never was crowded. So I tried one day with Harrison, and it’s actually pretty great.”
“I really loved it. And it smells sooo nice.”
“I can’t wait to see your face when you try out their cheesy fries. It’s heaven sent.” She smiled and kept staring at him. “Do I have something on my face?”
“No, no…” She shook her head and laughed. “It’s just… It’s weird, I feel like we’re old friends and we’ve known each other for like one day.
“I feel it too. Like, when I listen to your music, I feel so close to you. And I had the same feeling the first time I talked to you.”
“Maybe we know each other from other lives.”
“Maybe we used to work together.”
“Maybe we were married.” She lowered her sight to her lap and he smiled.
“Yeah, that’s more likely.”
“Tom, nice to see you around again.” The middle age waitress approached with a sympathetic smile on her face.
“Penelope, you know I’d be coming back for more of your cheesy fries.”
“So I’ll take notes to bring it to you right now.” She wrote something down on her notepad.
“Thank you.”
“So, who’s the pretty lady?”
“This is (Y/N), she’s passing through town this weekend and didn’t know where to eat. And you know, since here is so quiet and private, also really good.”
“It’s nice to meet you (Y/N).” She smiled to the girl next to Tom.
“It’s nice to meet you too.”
“So, what can I order for you two?”
“Bring the cheesy fries, I want my regular burger and a chocolate milkshake.”
“Which one is your regular?” (Y/N) whispered to Tom, looking at the menu.
“This one.” He pointed the burger on the menu and she smiled.
“Okay, I’ll have the cheddar bacon burger. And, can we share a milkshake?” She asked and he nodded with a grin on his face.
“Okay.” Penelope smiled with their interaction and wrote down their order.
“I’ll be right back with your food.”
“Thank you.”
“Why didn’t you wanna order your own milkshake?”
“I don’t know. I always thought it was cute to share milkshakes on a date. But I never really tried it.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. I don’t go on many dates though. Like, me and my brother started chasing our dream around our band very soon, and since we started, I haven’t had time to date.”
“I know what it’s like. The same with me, for real. Once I got in my head that I wanted to be Spider Man, I had to let go of so many things, that including girlfriends.”
“The price we have to pay to be successful.”
Their conversation went on about their careers, and they had so much in common when it came to that part of their lives. So that’s where they connected the most, and they went on about it for long minutes, until their order came, and they stopped talking and focused on the food.
“God, this is amazing!” She said, rolling her eyes in excitement. “I was so starving, and this is like medicine for the soul.”
“You’re so cute.”
“I know.” She did a cute face to him, and kept eating. “And the fries are so good.”
“The best, right? Oh, and try the milkshake.” She leaned to take a sip of the milkshake and moaned once she could finally taste it.
“I never wanna leave this place.”
They sat silent, just eating and feeling each other’s presence, but it was so comfortable, that it just felt so right. They finished the food and left the milkshake for last, so they finished it locking their gazes on each other. Tom was mesmerized by her and couldn’t take his eyes off her, because in that moment, she was all he could see.
“Okay, I’m so full that I don’t even know if I can take another glass of water.”
“Good, that’s where I wanted to get.” Tom smiled once again, he couldn’t stop smiling, and his face was hurting.
“Tommy.” She asked, leaning back on the booth.
“Yeah.”
“Can we kiss again? Cause you know, I can’t stop thinking about the one we did last night.”
He leaned forward and used one of his hands to bring her closer. It was a soft kiss, but it got much deeper once she licked his bottom lip, asking permission to explore his mouth. It was much different from the first one they had in the parking lot, but their first real kiss was just… perfect. After a nice lunch together, light conversation, ending with something they both craved the whole day. And so they stayed there, for a really long time, just kissing and talking, without being bothered, until it was almost dark.
“I think we need to go. Phineas is going to be worried.”
“And you need to rest, because you’ll have a big concert tomorrow.”
“I can sleep on the road, I just wanna be with you right now.”
“When will the tour be over?”
“In a month. We’ll end it up in London.” Tom nodded, heart already aching, knowing he would have to bear a long time without her.
“So why don’t you take some vacations once it is over? A little time in London. You can stay with me.”
“Okay, I like the idea.” She smiled and he kissed her again.
“Come on, let’s get you back.”
He paid for the food after that long discussion on she wanting to pay and he refusing to let her pay. He ended up paying for the food and she left a very good tip for Penelope, leaving her really happy. Tom drove (Y/N) home, trying to take forever to get to the destiny, just to stick around her a little more.
“You know Tom, once I’m gone tonight, we won’t be able to see each other for a long time.”
“I know, but I’m done with Spidey in two weeks. Maybe I can go meet you, wherever you are.”
“Would you do that for me?” Her eyes sparkled and he nodded.
“I’ve never been so sure of anything before in my life, (Y/N/N).”
“In two weeks I’ll be in San Francisco, and maybe if we squeeze really tight, we can share my bus bed.” He laughed with her and nodded.
“I wouldn’t mind at all.” She kissed him once again, one to last until the next time they see each other again.
“Call me. Don’t leave me on ghost Spidey.” She pointed to him. “We can FaceTime, and everything. So please, don’t be a stranger.”
“Never again.” He kissed her one last time before she opened the cars door.
“I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Okay. Good night darling, and have a safe trip.”
“Good night Tommy.”
And as Tom watched (Y/N) walk away, he simply knew that it was the start of something special. Something that would last through eternity. And he was so excited to see what was coming next from this brand new relationship, once like he never had before.

Hand in Glove - Chapter 25 | Ben Hardy x OFC
A/N: I am determined to get as many chapters out as I can before it’s time to get back to the daily grind of work, so I’m both sorry and not sorry at all for all these updates because after today, they’ll be weekly, at best.
Warnings: I don’t think there are any, actually.
Word Count: who even cares anymore.
Chapter 1, Chapter 2,  Chapter 3,  Chapter 4,  Chapter 5,  Chapter 6,  Chapter 7,  Chapter 8,  Chapter 9,  Chapter 10,  Chapter 11, Chapter 12, Chapter 13, Chapter 14 , Chapter 15 , Chapter 16 , Chapter 17 , Chapter 18 , Chapter 19 , Chapter 20 , Chapter 21 , Chapter 22 , Chapter 23 , Chapter 24
“I look like a gargoyle.”
Annie huffed at her reflection in the mirror in her trailer as the wardrobe ladies put finishing touches on her costume. For some reason, someone thought that making her wear an all grey silk and taffeta dress would be a splendid idea, but Annie just found it bland.
“You look lovely, Banana.” Clara rolled her eyes as she helped the wardrobe girls by holding Annie’s hair up and out of the way.
“This is not what Anne would’ve wanted.”
“Fortunately, she’s been dead for, what, 500 years?” one of the wardrobe girls said. “She has no say in this.”
Annie sighed and smoothed down the front of her dress. Ben had been gone for just over a week. Rory had started daycare, now that the guys were away and couldn’t babysit. Frankie was acting out like a petulant child. They were all missing Ben.
“How many extensions have they added?” Clara asked, lifting Annie’s hair up and down in her hands to weigh it. “Jesus.”
“It’s like wearing an octopus on my bloody head.” Annie commented. “That’s some heavy stuff.”
“You’re just moaning and bitching because you miss Ben and you’re PMSing.”
“How do you even…?”
“My sweet, deliciously ripe Banana.” Clara carefully put Annie’s hair down and let it cascade onto her back. “I know everything.”
###
Ben sat in his home-away-from-home, pushing his food around his plate with his fork. Bracing his elbow on the table, he idly scrolled through Instagram at 2AM. If he thought leaving Annie, Rory and Frankie the first time was hard - leaving after his visit nearly broke him to pieces. He was in a foul mood ever since the plane landed back in Phoenix.
As if that wasn’t enough, the pictures Joe and Gwilym posted on their accounts from the press tour with the cardboard cutout didn’t help make him feel any better. They were having a blast while he was stuck, alone.
He dropped his fork and bit his bottom lip, opening his WhatsApp chat with Annie. A small smile tugging at his lips because she was online.
‘I miss you.’
The response he got almost made him choke. Annie sent a picture from set. She crouched down with a menacing look, her hands spread to her sides like wings, on what looked like a stool. She looked like an Eagle about to take flight, wearing a beautiful, Renaissance-styled grey dress that somehow made her turquoise eyes look even brighter than they already were.
‘I look like a gargoyle.’
‘You’re the most beautiful gargoyle, then. And regardless, I miss you.’
‘Can’t sleep?’
‘Just having a late dinner. Got home not too long ago.’
‘Home, huh?’
‘You know what I meant. Smartass.’
‘I had the strangest dream last night.’
‘Yes…?’
‘Yup. I’ll tell you about it when we FaceTime. Off to film a scene now. Text you later. Love you.’
###
When Ben woke up after his alarm went off, he groggily took in his surroundings. No matter how much time passes, it seemed like he’ll never get used to being away. His heart dropped every time. No patter of Frankie’s clumsy running, no cooing and babbling from Rory. No Annie in his bed. He rubbed his eyes with a sigh.
Looking at the time, he quickly did the math. 5AM, his time; which meant 1PM, London time. Although he only got just under two and a half hours of sleep, he smiled as he pulled up his contacts and hit the little video camera icon next to Annie’s name. When Annie didn’t answer, he thought nothing of it. She was either at lunch or filming - preoccupied with something or another.
‘Call me back when you can, love.’ He texted Annie and rolled out of bed to start his day.
He brushed his teeth and did his usual morning ritual - alone. Then he had breakfast - alone. Slipping in his joggers and runners, he yawned. Earbuds in, he strapped his phone to his bare arm and stepped outside to the cool Arizona morning. The sun was just dawning, painting the sky a beautiful crimson. After a quick stretch, he hit ‘play’ and started his morning jog.
###
“Right, got it!” Mike chuckled and passed the phone over to Annie and Clara. “This is one for the Pantheon.”
It was lunch break, and Mike, Annie and Clara went off to have some Italian food. As soon as Clara’s spaghetti and meatballs dish was placed in front of her, she knew what needed to be done. The picture was perfect. Annie and Clara sharing a string of spaghetti, Lady And The Tramp style, lips puckered and eyes closed, faces a safe distance away.
“I need a caption!” Clara snapped her fingers. “Quick!”
“A lady and a tramp?” Mike suggested. Clara and Annie looked at each other briefly before snorting and giggling.
“Perfection!” Clara furiously typed the caption and went about choosing a filter. “See? This is why we like you.”
“Because I take good pictures?”
“Because you play along with our nonsense.” Annie winked and wolfed down a mouthful of lasagna.
“It’s what royal siblings are for.”
“The fans will have a feast over this one.” Annie mused.
“So will Ben, apparently.” Mike muttered and dodged an arm punch from Annie.
Their chatter was cut off by Annie’s phone ringing.
“Hm, strange. That’s Rory’s daycare. Sorry.” She mused before answering and getting up from the table. She came back minutes later, her face pale. “I need to go pick Rory up.”
“What, now?” Clara frowned.
“As soon as possible.” Annie sat down. “Rory’s running a fever.”
“Uh oh.”
###
“Annabelle, we can’t just stop everything because your daughter is sick.” The producer and director said coolly. “Find some other arrangement for her. You’re not going anywhere until you’re done for today.”
“There is no other arrangement.” Annie said with a clenched jaw. “Her dad’s in the United States. His parents are in bloody Dorset.”
“We’re very sorry, then.” The director squared his shoulders. “Call the daycare and have them take care of her until you, or someone else, can come pick her up. Now go change back into your costume and get over yourself.”
“Are you bloody serious?!”
“Yes.”
Annie looked like a raging bull. Her face red with anger, her nostrils flaring.
“I’ll pick her up.” Jamie said. “Just finished filming a scene, don’t think I have one scheduled for about an hour or two. I’ll pick her up and bring her here.”
“Jamie -”
“It’s the best arrangement we can come up with, right?” He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll change, go get her, bring her over.”
“You don’t have a car seat.” Annie slumped.
“I’ll take your car, then.”
“You really don’t have to do this.”
“Keys.”
“Jamie, seriously.”
Jamie held his open palm out. Annie reached into the back pocket of her jeans and dropped the keys into his waiting hand.
“I owe you.”
“Yeah, no shit.”
###
Hours have passed without a single word from Annie. Not a text, not a picture, not a call. On the one hand, he knew how hectic every day was for her. She was alone, juggling work, parenting and dog-parenting. Her social life was limited to her work friends, if anything. With no one to help her now that the rest of their mutual group of friends is gone, and his parents living too far out of the way, he knew this silence would happen sometimes.
The problem was, knowing didn’t make him feel any better about it. He’d already sent her three texts and kept checking his phone to see if she replied. One in the morning, after he tried calling her; one over his lunch break; and the last one just as he finished working for the day. When his phone finally rang, he couldn’t pick up fast enough.
“Finally!”
“I’m so sorry.” Annie’s frazzled voice came through. “You won’t believe the day I’ve had.”
“Is everything alright?” Ben looked at the time and frowned. “Did something happen at work?”
“She’s got a fever.” Annie plopped down on the bed. “Finally got her to sleep.”
“A fever?” Ben’s confusion was audible. “Who?”
“Rory, your daughter. Remember her?” Annie snarked. “Got called in to pick her up from daycare in the middle of lunch.”
“Is she alright?”
“Yes. I guess. I don’t know. I gave her some baby Tylenol. Her skin seems to be breaking out in hives.” Annie yawned. “Stupid people at work wouldn’t let me go get her.”
“Wait, what?”
“Yeah. Jamie offered to pick her up for me and bring her to set.” Annie rubbed her eyes. “Ben, I am so tired.”
“You could have called me, I would have…”
“What? What would you have done, Ben?” Annie rolled her eyes, knowing what she had said was a low blow but she couldn’t stop the words from tumbling out. “FaceTimed her back to health?”
###
Ben tossed and turned. His baby was sick and he was nowhere near her and the guilt eating at him was unrelenting. Annie was in the same predicament - sleepless, freaking out and so very angry at being alone. This is the first time Rory got seriously ill Ben was nowhere near her. Near them.
Ben kept staring at his phone, willing it to ring but not doing so himself in case Annie was sleeping. What she said when they last spoke was like a kick to the balls. It was mean, it was rude - and it was very, very true. What could he have done from so far away? A dinging noise and his screen lighting up broke his train of thought.
‘We’re going to see Dr. Uhllman in a bit.’ A camera icon appeared at the end of the notification text.
Ben clicked on the notification and felt his heart shatter. Annie had sent a picture of Rory, sitting on her changing table with the deepest frown on her face, eyes red and cheeks shiny from fresh tears. Her face was covered in little red bumps, making him wonder if “fever-rash” might be a thing babies get and he made a mental note to look it up on Google later on. As heart-wrenching as seeing his baby so sad was, he couldn’t help but melt at how cute she looked, still.
‘Is it weird that I find the face she’s making stupidly adorable?’
‘Not really. I sent the pic to your mum and she called me back howling with laughter.’
‘Thank God.’
‘Go to sleep, Ben.’
‘No.’
‘Staying up all night isn’t going to help her when you’re in Arizona.’
‘My brain won’t shut off. Too worried.’
‘We’ll call you after the doctor’s visit?’
‘Please.’
###
“Have you lost your bloody mind, Annabelle?”
Annie took a deep breath, exhaling sharply.
“You are not leaving Rory with Jamie’s fake fiancée!”
“Ben, there are no other options.” Annie said for the third time. “I can’t take the day off, Clara’s filming with me today -”
“Annie, she’s a stranger.”
“So were the daycare people!”
“They’re trained to handle toddlers and babies!”
“Ben…”
“No, don’t Ben me. If you do this, we’re going to have a problem.” Ben warned. “We don’t even know what her bloody name is, for fuck’s sake!”
Annie stepped back, as if she was physically pushed.
“Hello?!”
“I’m here. It’s Alison. Her name is Alison… or Madison, maybe?” Annie’s mind caught up with Ben’s threat and her voice turned ice cold. “We’re going to have a problem? You seem to think you have any say in this matter?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Ben, you are a fucking ocean away.” Annie stated. “You have no say about this. Whatsoever.”
“What did you just say?”
“Did I fucking stutter?”
“Annabelle, I’m her father. She’s my daughter, too!”
“Well, then, leave work and come take care of your daughter. Bloody tosser.” Annie barked at the phone and ended the call.
###
“So, make sure you wash your hands before and after you apply the Hydrocortisone cream and make sure she keeps her hands off it.” Annie instructed Madison, Jamie’s allegedly fake fiancée. “Make sure she doesn’t scratch at the pox, too. If she has a fever, give her baby Tylenol once every 6 hours or so. The dosage is written on the box. It’s strawberry flavoured but she still hates it.”
“Got it.”
“She’ll probably sleep most of the time, so you should be fine. If she does wake up and is in a good mood, you can put some music on for her and play with her. She also likes stories.”
“Annie, relax. I have nieces and nephews. I can handle this.”
“Right. Okay.” Annie kissed the top of Rory’s head one last time. “Call me if you need anything. Anything at all.”
“Will do.”
“And keep her away from Frankie’s dog food!”
“Not a problem.”
“Right. Well then.” Annie reluctantly passed Rory over to Madison’s waiting, tattooed arms. “Call me. Call me if there’s anything -”
“Say ‘bye bye, mum!’” Madison held one of Rory’s hands up to wave. “Have a good day at work!”
###
‘The least you could do is fucking text me.’
Annie scoffed at the message Ben had sent and tapped out of the app.
‘Leave me on read again and we’ll definitely have a problem.’
“Trouble in paradise?” Jamie tapped a cigarette out of the box, sitting on the stairs to Annie’s trailer. He extended the box, offering a smoke for Annie. She pondered for a few seconds and shook her head, sighing. “S’going on?”
“He’d livid because I left her with Madison.”
“Fuck this chap.” Jamie said around the cigarette in his mouth as he lit it. “What a resentful little cunt.”
“Do not call him that.”
“Madison is fucking great.”
“I’m sure she is.”
“What’s that?” Jamie looked up, squinting as the sun hit his eyes.
“I don’t know her. At all.”
“Then why would you leave your baby with her?”
“Because I’m alone in this, you turd!” Annie’s voice cracked. “Ben is not here. FaceTime and texts and calls are great, but he’s not here. I have no one to help me. God forbid I take a few days off.”
“You know how far behind schedule we are.”
“Sorry for having a baby, then.” Annie snarled.
“What are you snapping at me for?” Jamie furrowed his brows. “I’m not a punching bag. Sort this out with Ben or suck it up and get over yourself.”
###
Five days.
The longest Ben and Annie hadn’t spoken since he left for Arizona. She texted him little updates and pictures of Rory, but never engaged in any further conversation. So when the FaceTime call came in, he was truly surprised.
“Mumumumum!” Rory mumbled happily as he clapped two wooden blocks together.
“Rory, love?” Ben’s voice made Rory turn her head towards the phone Annie was holding. “Hi, sweet girl!” Rory smiled and cooed, waving the blocks about. “Are you having fun with your toys? Are you feeling better now?”
Rory nodded.
“Can I see mummy, please?”
Rory nodded again.
“She has spoken, Annie. Let me see you.”
Annie switched to the front facing camera, her face even; but Ben saw love flashing in her eyes.
“I have news.” He said and sat down. “We’re filming in Florence for a couple of weeks. Leaving the day after tomorrow. I’ll be home for those specific weekends to visit. After that it’s the final stretch and I’m coming home.”
“Yeah?” Annie feigned boredom. “That’s nice.”
“Come on, Annie.” Ben drawled. “Don’t be like that. I know you’re happy.”
“I’m still angry.”
“Of course you are.” He shrugged. “But you’re also so bloody happy. I can tell.”
“You really had no business criticising my parenting decisions from that far away.”
“Like I’ve said, she’s my baby too.”
“You’re not here.”
“Because I’m working. You know I want to be there.”
“I don’t know if I can do this much longer.” Annie sighed. “Ben, I can’t be alone for months on end like this. I need you here. Or at least on the same bloody continent, maybe?”
“Let’s not do this right now, please?”
“When, then?”
“When I’m home. Soon.”
“Ben, I-”
“Listen. You’re the strongest person I’ve ever met. We’ll get through this. We got through much, much worse, right?”
“Well, yeah, but -”
“No buts. Well, butts? Yeah, always. Yours in particular. Buts? No.” Soft smiles tugged on both their lips. “I’ll be home soon.”
“You’re so irritating…” Annie muttered, a chuckle escaping her.
“What was that? Was that a giggle?!” Ben gasped dramatically.
“Shut up.”
“Never.”
###
“Annie?” Clara called after letting herself in and petting Frankie for two minutes straight, since she was the only one to greet her. “Where are my two favourite girls at?”
‘Upstairs. Rory’s sleeping.’ Annie texted back.
Clara climbed up the stairs and peeked into Rory’s room.
Annie sat on the rocking chair, humming, with Rory asleep in her arms.
“Is that…?” Clara spoke in a hushed voice. “Is that We Will Rock You?”
“It’s her favourite song right now, don’t judge.” Annie whispered and quickly hummed again when Rory stirred.
“Is it alright if I stomp-stomp-clap?” Clara giggled. Rory stirred again, her eyes fluttering open. “Hi, girly!” Clara cooed and pouted when Rory turned her head the other way, suddenly shy.
“Let her wake up first.” Annie smiled.
“I see we’re all feeling a lot better and cheerier.” Clara noted.
“Cheerier.” Annie agreed. “She’s still a bit poxy.”
“Oh no, my love. She’s Foxy Poxy!”
“You are such a bloody dork.” Annie laughed. “Anyways, Ben’s coming home for the weekend. Not this one, obviously, the one after. We need just one night to-”
“Say no more.” Clara held up on hand. “Try not to hurt yourselves, please.”
“Jesus, Clara!” Annie tutted. “I wasn’t going there at all!”
“Of course you weren’t.”
“God you’re the horniest person I have ever met. Is Gwil not taking good care of you anymore?”
“Oh, he takes the best care of me.” Clara grinned mischievously. “The night before he left we -”
“Nope! No!” Annie grimaced. “Do not finish that sentence. I beg you.”
“Oh, alright.” Clara pouted. “Whatever. Just drop her by after her bath and don’t worry about it. I’ll get her high chair and collapsible crib from Gwil’s sometime during the week.”
“You really are the best, you know.”
“Oh, I know.” Clara nodded. “Your cousin said so, too.”
“For the love of God, please,” Annie shuddered. “Knock it off, will you?”

ignoct, things you said while we were driving :')
Anon you were the first kind soul to send me a prompt, so I finished yours first. Also it got longer than anticipated, but that’s very much me. I hope you enjoy it! I’ll keep this short, but there’s some A/N at the end that’ll go into a little explanation and there’ll be a link to the AO3 as well!
They left Lestallum too late to make it to Hammerhead beforenightfall. It had been a long week of hunts and climbing the mountain to accessthe tomb that held another of Noct’s ancestor’s weapons. The plan had been tostop in Lestallum for the night but the Regalia was on its last leg after a runin with a herd of garulas. They’d been overwhelmed, but still the garulascharged on, pushing at the Regalia even as they drove off.
The stop in Lestallum was to turn in a photo to Vyv for themoney to fix the Regalia, but with the shape it was in, they wouldn’t haveenough gil to fix it and stay the night at the hotel. So they pressed on toHammerhead.
Everyone was tired.
Everyone was asleep, save for Ignis.
He was, however, finding it more and more difficult to keephis attention on the road. He gripped the steering wheel tightly until hisknuckles went white. Neither of the two in the backseat were awake so he had tomake do without Ebony.
Noct had switched seats with Prompto so he could lay theseat back, despite Gladio’s initial protests. Prompto switched seats with theshield this time and Noct let his down into the blond’s lap. Gladio nested hishead on his fist and fell asleep against the window. Prompto used the headrestof Noct’s seat to lay against, his head buried in his arms. The prince wascurled up on his side, his back pressed to the door of the Regalia that Ignishad made sure to lock.
Ignis’ eyes were heavy. He turned the brights on, trying tokeep any daemons at bay – they were in no shape to fight and he didn’t have theenergy for quick maneuvering of the car, and it was still over an hour to Hammerhead. There was a well-lit parking space ahead and Ignis pulled over to it, leaningforward to rest his head against the steering wheel. He let his eyes rest forno more than a minute then, through sheer willpower, forced himself upright toturn and reach into the back of the car for an Ebony.
“Ignis?” Noct stirred, rubbing the back of his fists overhis eyes as he woke.
Ignis kept his voice low as he replied, “Go back to sleep, highness. Just pulled over for a moment.” He winced as he cracked the can open, the prince’s eyes opening fully.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice thick with sleep. He satup and stretched, looking around the car in amusement.
The advisor couldn’t help the smile that crept over his ownlips as the light from the street lamp illuminated Noct’s grin. “Just a bittired,” he said, underselling his exhaustion.
“Gladio’s snores not enough to keep you awake?”
“I’ve grown used to them, I’m afraid.”
Noct smiled sleepily at him and dropped his head back ontohis arm. “How much further?”
“Over an hour.” Ignis took a deep drink of the Ebony, grateful to have the caffeine. He’d let it take effect before setting back out.“I needed a drink,” he gestured to the can, “but we’ll set off once I’vefinished.”
The prince’s brow drew in. “Do you want me to drive?”
“I’ll be alright.”
They settled into silence once more. Ignis thought Noct hadfallen asleep again, but when he glanced over, the prince’s eyes were open andstaring at the roof of the car. He took the last few drinks of the Ebony beforesetting the empty can down into one of the holders to be disposed of once theyreached their destination. Readjusting his position and stretching out his armsand neck, Ignis put the car back into gear, setting off towards Hammerhead.
Noct stayed awake. He kept moving as if he wereuncomfortable, before finally sighing and sitting up. He leaned against the cardoor, curling his legs underneath him.
“You should be wearing a seatbelt,” Ignis scoldedhalfheartedly.
The prince shrugged. “I can’t put the seat back up,” hereplied, gesturing to the blond head that was sleeping soundly on top of theheadrest.
Ignis hummed, setting his eyes on the road as he thrummedhis fingers against the steering wheel. They fell back into a quiet car but forGladio’s snores and Prompto’s breathing. Noctis leaned his head backwardsagainst the window, crossing his arms over his chest. Eventually the princeturned his head up to look at the night sky as they drove through the darkness.
“I’m glad you’re here,” he said so softly Ignis almostmissed it.
Heat spread across the back of Ignis’ neck and he flexed hishand over the wheel. “I’m glad to be here,” he replied, just as softly.
“Really,” Noct continued. “I don’t know how I’d be alive ifit weren’t for you.”
“You’d likely be buried under all the garbage from yourapartment,” Ignis joked.
Noctis laughed and it was contagious as Ignis joined with achuckle of his own. “Thanks for coming with me,” he murmured as their laughtersubsided. “Seriously.”
Ignis slowed the car and glanced at him. “I will always beby your side,” he promised. “As long as you’ll have me.”
Noct held his gaze for as long as Ignis could spare itbefore turning his eyes back on the road. “I’ll have you,” the princewhispered.
Ignis lifted his chin, trying to ignore the way his stomachhollowed and his chest constricted. With, what he hoped was, a steady breath,he reached his hand to his right to offer it to Noctis. Another hand found hisown and wove their fingers together. There was a rustling as Noct readjustedonto his side, leaning over the divide between the seats to rest his head onIgnis’ thigh. Ignis freed his hand from Noct’s, pushing it through dark hair, eliciting a contented sigh from the other man. It sent chills up Ignis’ spinethat he pretended not to have felt.
“I don’t want to get married, Ignis,” Noct breathed.
“I know.”
“Isn’t the treaty broken now?”
“Noct…”
“If it was part of the treaty then—”
“Noct, you know the answer to that.”
An annoyed sigh. Noct nestled his head against Ignis’ thigh, removing the hand from his hair to fidget with Ignis’ fingers. He trailed adull nail over Ignis’ palm and Ignis was absolutely certain that Noct didn’t missthe goosebumps that shot up his arm. “I’m not in love with her,” he whispered, breath tickling at Ignis’ skin.
“There are expectations to be met, highness.”
“I know but—”
“Don’t you wish to save her? To be reunited?”
“Yes, but Ignis—”
“Then it’s love.” Ignis grasped at Noct’s hand with his own.“Even after this is all over… it’s a good match.”
Noct stilled for a moment. Ignis thought he had won, butthen lips were brushing over their joined hands and his breath caught in histhroat. The prince’s lips worshipped his fingers then trailed over his wrist ina silent plea. Despite it being the middle of the night in the middle of theroad, Ignis slowed the Regalia to stop and looked down. Noctis, adamant andever stubborn, looked back at him defiantly.
Even though he knew better… even though he knew where this would lead, Ignis leaneddown and met Noct’s lips with his own. It was an awkward angle, mostly upsidedown, but Noctis reached up to thread his fingers behind Ignis’ neck to pullhim closer. The prince moaned out his name in a short breath and Ignis droppedhis other hand from the wheel to push his fingers into the black hair on theback of Noct’s head to deepen the kiss.
Gladio snorted in his sleep at the same time that there wasa groan from outside. It made both of them jerk, Ignis’ head snapping up toassess their situation. A ways off the road there was the telltale glow ofdaemons rising from the darkness and he frowned, glancing back down at Noct whohad disappointment written clear across his face. It was the first time they’dtouched one another romantically since a week before the signing of the treaty.
“Go back to sleep, highness.” He felt Noctis deflate. “Weare not alone nor are we in a desirable location.” Ignis nudged Noct off histhigh, knowing that if the prince stayed there he wouldn’t be able to thinkproperly.
Noctis frowned as he slid back into his seat. “That’s not ano,” he pointed out.
Ignis adjusted his glasses and began the drive once more. “No,it isn’t,” he agreed.
“Does that mean—?”
“We shall discuss it in private later,” he confirmed. “Afterwe’ve all gotten some sleep and our heads are back on straight.”
“That sounds more like a no.”
Ignis smiled lightly and glanced over at Noct. “It isn’t,”he replied, shaking his head. “I promise.” He offered his hand once more to theother man. It was taken, gladly, as Noctis settled back into his position onhis side. “For now, just rest. I’ll wake you when we arrive.”
For the rest of the drive, Ignis kept his hand in Noct’s.Gladio woke about ten minutes outside of Hammerhead, but the advisor didn’tcare to move. The shield lifted his eyebrows at Ignis when they made eyecontact through the rearview mirror but Ignis just looked away.
Even though he’d been awake for more hours than he couldremember and he was absolutely exhausted from all the fighting, driving, andclimbing they’d done in the past week, it was the happiest Ignis had been in along while.
First off: this ends on a happy note because Ignis deserves some goddamn happiness, dammit, and I am still hung up on that teaser trailer my god that has me real shook. Second: this could be spun as the ‘things you said at 1am’ prompt, but I decided this was better as the drive prompt and also I decided it happens at midnight, not 1am so take that, prompts.
And third: I’m going to post these as a series on AO3. I’ll be doing all the prompts with whatever ship gets requested. Quite a few of the prompts have been taken already but I will do repeats of prompts if they get requested with a different ship. For now just anticipate the 20 some chapters since that’s how many prompts there are. Plus, for some reason, I keep getting requested to do ignoct.. hm wonder how that happened. Crazy right? (literally not complaining they are my faves to write thank you to everyone who requested them and thank you to everyone who requested someone else all prompts are welcome)
I hope you enjoyed, anon! Thank you so much for the prompt!
