Look. I know that most people don’t actually live in the woods surrounded by trees. So they have no way of knowing what it’s really like.
But. If you’re dreaming of living in the woods surrounded by trees, you have really got to learn to make peace with The Bugs.
#i don’t mean ‘oh there are a few mosquitoes sometimes and they’re so annoying’#or ‘yeah we get fruit flies in the summer what can you do’#or the usual handful of hardy city-dwelling nuisance pests#i mean: you’re sitting on your deck and there’s a vague fuzzy cloud hovering a dozen feet away and it’s just a swarm of insects#it’s fine they’re over there doing their thing#i mean: brush the spiders off your deck chair before you sit down ‘cause it’s your turn now; they can come back later if they really want#i mean: never turn the front light on in the summer despite how dark it is at night#because the second you open that door a few dozen flying insects *will* see it as an invitation#it is worth it. absolutely. but if you can’t handle that level of bugs you should probably start romanticizing being surrounded by fields#(still buggy. but. so much less)
