talked to an indian gas station employee in a VERY white town this afternoon for a kinda long time (typical "you indian?"/"yah"/"WAH ☺️ kahaan se") and it wasn't until i drove away that i realized i switched from hindi to marathi halfway through the convo and he was too polite to say anything 😶 can i get a shout out for bilinguals who suck

#its fine its fine he was from mumbai thats why we started talking #he isn't marathi though. so. that one is on me. but in my defense his marathi was better than my hindi #i really like living in a very brown town though the amount of conversations ive had w/ random people about visa status.#some guy who was behind me in line at a restaurant invited me to some punjabi rapper's show cause he assumed from my #bad hindi that i was used to speaking panjabi (im not) but we all had a laff
