ok so im still watching through rise from the ashes and you know what character's presence and perspective in that case would have been absolutely fascinating to see if they'd been created yet? fuckin. Detective Badd.

at first i was like "well we've got basically every other detective who was around at that time being involved, plus the line when they thought there were two murders abt 'oh shit someones targeting homicide detectives', woulda made sense to put him in there haha"

but also. you think Angel and Goodman and Marshall wouldn’t have had some kind of significant interactions with him?!? You know, the group that’s really frustrated by coverups and desperately trying to find the truth, and meanwhile you've got Detective Tyrell "yatagarasu" Badd (not to even mention his frustrations with von karma’s bs in Inherited Turnabout) over here I MEAN

you can’t tell me he would stand for everything that went down with SL-9. that he wouldn’t be on their side doing whatever he could to help them find the truth of what happened

ALSO, there’s a line in Inherited Turnabout where Gregory is like “(...Perhaps Detective Badd wants an apprentice too?)”, right? The Angel Starr/Bruce Goodman/Jake Marshall detective crew is all young enough that he could conceivably have mentored some/all of them, which would just make everything about all of this so much more fascinating and interesting and it fits with their characters and motivations for the case, can you even imagine.

And then you get into the part I just got to, where Lana admitted they forged evidence to get Darke convicted and how they 'felt restricted by the bounds of the law in their ability to do justice' or w/e phrasing?! That has so much delicious comparison potential to him & the Yatagarasu like. same reasoning my dudes

tldr: The rise from the ashes case gets so much more interesting when you retcon in Detective Badd and his morality and worldview
