Huevember 2022 day 25. Practice drawing non-chibi Claude and Dimitri., because I REALLY need the practice. lol
EDIT 3:28 AM 6/1/2023: Back when we all played with Dall E Mini, there were some artists I respected, who talked about how AI image generators weren't good, but there COULD be some ethical uses for them, and we'll have to learn to use them for the future, as artists. They recommended using image generators for reference source material. But now, the whole AI image generator community is just so toxic, especially towards actual artists. And they're so dismissive of trying to make its image/dataset sourcing ethical, that everyone is recommending having nothing to do with AI, in any part of the art process. I regret having used Dall E Mini as reference for this sketch. Especially since that day of drawing for me happened to turn out well. I could have and should have just used my articulated figurines on my desk, equally as well.
11/26/2022:
11/26/2022. Platinum Preppy fountain pen, using Noodler's Ink. No underdrawings. Referenced Dall E Mini images generated from "claude von riegan and dimitri alexandre blaiddyd riding a white wyvern in flight". Colored with Copic markers, and a green Crayola Super Tips marker (that I have personally designated as #25), for Huevember day 25's challenge color. No clean-up on Krita; just cropping and canvas resizing.
Sketchy redrawing of Dall E Mini generated images of Claude and Dimitri.
The AI spits out some odd costume designs, but for a fantasy setting, I like it. It fits well, and it takes out a lot of design work. The only problem is that if I'm practicing drawing regular-scale (non-chibi) characters, because I'm not good at the regular-scale human body, then referencing AI art, which is notoriously bad at anatomy, may inadvertantly teach me to absorb some bad anatomy. Also, since I'm bad at anatomy, I won't be able to fill in the blanks or fix the mistakes in the AI art reference. So it seems that only referencing AI art is a bad idea for me. Therefore, I usually also pose my drawing model figurines, to mimic the AI generated image, so I can use that as reference, in conjunction with the AI image. But this time, I didn't have the workspace to set up my S.H. Figuarts.

So I decided to use Dall-E Mini and put Wilford Warfstache in it, as you can see it gave out fucking horrific results, bUT two of those results I thought had some pretty cool concepts that I thought I'd try redrawing it in my style! So hopefully they're less horrific now! :]
.......dear god why is Will like that I thought it'd be more like Dark w h y -

@eldritch-spouse
DALL-E Miniiii, nice guess but not quite! The software I currently work with isn't completely accessible to the public right now! But it is a lotttt more refined and adaptable compared to Mini as you will see below! Btw your prompts weren’t dumb or little in the slightest! They were great :33
I had to censor a few of the images so it wouldn't trigger anything on Tumblr! (Would it do that?? Ive never actually posted anything before, ive always been a lurker!!)
Quick note! c: Regarding your thoughts on there being a long way to go in terms of image-generating algorithms, I truly believe we're really close to getting there! It's just that all the good ones are being worked on before letting themselves be used by the public. I've gotten amazing things from these, it's exciting! I mess around with it on the side cause it's fun, but as a person who also dabbles in drawing, it's really helped me during my moments with artist's block! It'll be a useful tool to work alongside of as an artist since it really gets the creative juices flowing.
But that's not what we're here for! Here are the A.I's outputs for your prompts: (P.S some of the faces might look weird, but that’s cuz the Ai isn’t perfect XD However, it kinda works with the overall image at times!)
Naga Monster Prompt:
Tumblr media
-
Tumblr media
(Shape of Water anyone?? hehe)
Shadow Man Selfie Prompt:
Tumblr media
-
Tumblr media
(The shadowy figure in the first image on the right looks like it could have been a girl but the Ai forgot to add her legs lol)
Scary Mermaid Singing Prompt:
Tumblr media
(The woman on the boat looks like she might be playing the violin for the mermaid creature! How cute, a duet!!)
> The Biblically Accurate Angel Prompt did not create a desired output, but I kinda expected that cause I’ve tried a similar one wayy before you recommended it (which made me laugh when I read it cuz I was like “great minds think alike”). The angel it gave out was a regular human looking one unfortunately ;m; Not worth posting...
Buff Rich Demon Starbucks Prompt:
Tumblr media
-
Tumblr media
(Oh stars these were some of my favorite XD I didn’t think the output would be that charming and funny!!)
Smiling Drider Monster Prompt:
Tumblr media
-
Tumblr media
(This is the only prompt that took two tries to get something right, but I believe that is because the Ai did not know what a Drider was. I replaced it with Spider cause when I looked it up that’s what it resembled best and got what you see above! Kinda cute!)
So, that’s all I got!! Thanks again Pinnie for your suggestions, if you ever have anymore monster related stuff I could try lmk! But I can’t guarantee doing all of them cuz I only do this when I have free time! c: Sending hearts!

Tried practicing using my bulky-tipped stylus, despite it obscuring my view of what I'm drawing. Referenced Dall E Mini images generated from "claude von riegan and dimitri alexandre blaiddyd kissing at their wedding", and S.H. Figuarts Body-kun, both original and Rihito Takarai versions.

Huevember 2022 days 14-16. Practice drawing non-chibi characters because---WOW---do I ever need it. lol

Quick catch-up, redrawing AI generated images.
Referenced Dall E Mini images of Claude von Riegan and Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. The AI spits out some odd costume designs, but for a fantasy setting, I think it fits well. And I like it, because it takes out a lot of design work. …Maybe referencing AI art is a bad idea? Or maybe I should use the AI to decide costumes and poses, set up my drawing model figurines, sketch those, and learn some better anatomy from that.
