It’s time for meta!! For peace of my own mind and for the sake of people that haven’t played the games, the following info will be placed under a ‘ Read More ’ because it’s super long and…spoilers, mate.

So, I’ve burnt a couple of brain cells watching all kh3 cutscenes ( more brain cells than I needed to burn, I guess ) aaand after a good amount of 10 hours ( or smth, I don’t recall ) I came to the conclusion that my muses were Done Dirty™. And since I had this convo with a friend of mine on Discord earlier this month, I’m dropping some ‘ rants ’ to address this Mess. Based on the muse in question.

Starting with the…Dirty Laundry of a writing mess first.

Riku

Those fighting scenes in the Realm of Darkness were so disappointing I’m wailing in advance.

Yes, the Heartless in that dimension are supposed to be tougher than in the Realm of Light as Mickey states, buuut that shouldn’t make them that hard to defeat.

I mean, two scenes in that area and both times Riku and Mickey get knocked out.

Worse yet, we just played as Riku a few minutes ago!!

In A Fragmentary Passage, Aqua faced the same enemies and yet, during cutscenes, she came out just fine!! Why wouldn’t these two end up in the same state??

To add more points to facepalming, all three of them are Keyblade Masters. Alas, two out of three got curb stomped badly for the sake of plot advancement.

Much later, when they face Anti!Aqua, Mickey gets engulfed in darkness ( from which he could get out with a little effort ) and Riku gets rendered exhausted right after we fought her playing as him. Great.

We also miss out on the chance to talk with Kairi and Axel ( when he has to give them the gear Yen Sid told him to deliver ).

Heck, he could have even talked to Terra once we saved him. Terra!! To whom he is a freaking counterpart ( both have names associated with earth, both have been afflicted with darkness, etc.)

He could have also tried to reach Aqua while fighting since he best understands how it feels to be corrupted by darkness.

And use the Power of Waking to save Kairi so that Sora wouldn’t pull a Snapped by Thanos into oblivion schtick.

Him saying that he’s going to miss Ansem, a.k.a the same guy who tortured and made his life difficult ( to say the least ) over the course of the series? Larxene v.c.: No thanks.

Axel

I appreciate all the meta he dishes around in the game but…

They relegated him to a punching bag for the villains smh.

After he spent 2 - 3 games being the wildcard, and scheming behind everyone’s backs, you’d think he’d get better treatment.

Including additional fighting skills with a Keyblade.

But nooooooo he gets turned into a Glass Cannon that went down in 2 hits from Terra-Xehanort and combo’ed by Xemnas into a critical state. Should have pressed Triangle there.

They made the training he and Kairi went through come off as a horrid waste.

And Axel is A LOT more skilled than that; all those times you fight him as Roxas during 385 / 2 and in kh 2 + that time he joins Sora, what are those? Chopped liver?

I really wish we could see him talking to Ienzo, Roxas, and Xion tbh. Those are missed moments imo.

I feel robbed of the opportunity to watch him legitimate clobber Saix alongside Xion and Roxas ( whose A.I is as OP as a freight train and more lol )

I’m gonna say a thing I’ve heard in a YouTube video I saw earlier and that is…

We could have rescued her earlier. Much earlier.

Remember that point she has to fight Vanitas and opts to do it alone? Not a good idea.

Yes, I get it, she’s stubborn and her pride is a bit on the line here, but strategically speaking? Nope.

First, she just came out of the Realm of Darkness and went straight to the Land of Departure, meaning she’d be too worn out to fight on her own.

Secondly, she’s not alone anymore, meaning more people to assist her in combat. Btw, that would be nice for gameplay reasons.

Instead of having to guard Ven’s body with her own, she could use a reflective shield right back at Vanitas.

I understand her freezing up upon seeing Terra-Xehanort because of all these times she has run into him, but still!

Besides that small part earlier, I expected her to interact with Kairi more.  Riku too, since they are both Masters.

No offense, but where’s her Keyblade Armor? Or her initial Keyblade, besides the one Eraqus gave to her before passing away. These could have been really useful for the final battles imo.

Anyway, my rant is over, so I’ll go ahead and try to fix these inconsistencies in separate posts so I don’t make this one too big and get too dizzy.
