#i think his relationship with aizawa and jeanist would really help him in that aspect

the idea of ua teacher bakugou honestly makes me so sad, because you have to consider the possibility of him not making it to the end as a hero which !! is heart-breaking !!
but at the same time — there is something really cathartic i think about him growing up and growing out of measuring his worth by being number one, by being the best. and i like to think of him as a grumpy professor !! a bit like aizawa !! or him keeping a close eye on the shy, quiet students, watching out for them and always there to bully them (affectionate) along their path . or for him to be an all might to someone, a young kid that looked up to dynamight in his hay-day, now getting to follow directly under his lead.

Two things: Firstly, what are "metas"? Secondly, what Quirks do you think would be interesting Quirk Marriages? Doesn't have to be the opposite gender.
Hey there, beautiful nonnie
So, meta is just short for meta-analyses. You find them a lot going around tumblr. They tend to analyze specific things, such as character traits, character development, character relationships, symbology, aspects of world building, plot points, theories, and so on. Basically they are very well thought out, long-winded, mostly well structured, somewhat nerdy, personal opinions. The BNHA fandom has some really interesting metas going about. I particularly like @lethesomething metas (they also do some amazing writing/fics, totally check them out! I particularly like this one meta here by them). @deafmic does some really neat ones as well, tho it tends to focus more on erasermic/eraserhead/present mic and pro-heroes in general (he also does some kickass fic writing, check him out, it’s worth it believe me). So yeah, long analyses about the anime/manga. It’s amazing, and I have some of my own in store and you can always come here (like you just did) to give me some topics about BNHA to discuss/analyze! :D I have much fun doing that.
Now, about the quirk marriages… (This turned out huge so the rest is under the cut. Also, guys, i loved this theme! let’s talk more about it, come yell at me about your preferred quirk marriages)
I find that there’s a lot of things to consider when thinking about quirk marriages, and the main one should probably be the best application for a combination. We could simply think about “how can I make this as overpower as possible” but then is easy to just combine OfA with everything. I also think there are infinite possibilities for this so I will just pick and choose some that comes to mind at the moment. So what about… Erasure, Fiber Master, and Frog Form.
I honestly think that Erasure can be combined with absolutely any other quirk. That’s how useful Erasure is in itself. I do have some thoughts on preferred combinations with it though:
- Brainwash. Better offensive and capture. Shinsou’s quirk would be a very good combination here in terms of strategy. No need for Aizawa’s scarf, as Brainwash can simply order the villain to allow themselves to be captured. Erase and then Brainwash them, pretty straight forward and hard to win against.
- Fiber Master. Also good for offensive and capture. While I did consider Sero’s Tape quirk here, I do believe that Best Jeanist’s Fiber Master is a better enhancement for Erasure. It’s more malleable and offers a wider range of applications. I find that the offensive potential would be only limited by your own creativity. It gives more attack force and full restraining abilities as well. With someone as well trained as Aizawa being able to also have something like Fiber Master would be outstanding. Here the focus is not on brute force, but in agility. And I’m all down for this.
- Rewind. Rescue and defense potential. I was torn between any healing quirk for Erasure, like Recovery Girl’s or the auto-regeneration one as we saw on Noumu from the USJ attack. However, Eri’s Rewind increases the possibilities. I mean, Erasure is already in theory a party’s perfect support type quirk. Combining them would give the user a lot of power, specially in preemptive attacks and rescue missions. This could allow the user to heal themselves as they get attacked, maybe even prevent fatigue and just tiredness from fighting (if you keep rewinding your vitality. Yes, I’m talking about the blinking and eye dryness from Erasure), they can also rewind victims while rescuing or partners during fights. Really, the list goes on. I understand we have yet to learn about the full mechanics of Rewind and I might be stretching its use in these ideas, but it’s all about the creativity exercise.
Now, Fiber Master gotta be one of my favourite quirks and I would really like to see more of it in action. I’m very interested in the potential we see in it, and by itself looks like a rather powerful quirk. I talked about it combined with Erasure, but let’s consider…
Warp Gate. I have reasons to believe that Kurogiri’s Warp Gate alone is pretty overpowered. But pair it with a number of different quirks and it simply becomes unfair. I like the potential in combining Fiber Master with it, because the range increase it gets would be unbelievable. Not only that, but if the user of this combination is pretty agile and perceptive they could simultaneously capture a very large number of enemies without blinking an eye, no matter how far away they are. Because Warp Gate. Yes, I dig this.
Permeation. This might have people disagreeing and it might even sound like quite the stretch, but Mirio’s Permeation looks like a hell of a good combination with Fiber Master. I am often reminded that Mirio’s hero costume is made out of his own hair fibers, and to just think about the potential this could have makes me excited. Imagine being able to use the fibers through objects and walls. It would demand so much control and skill, though.
Okay, we all love Tsuyu, right? I find her Frog Form quirk to be so interesting and full of potential, but I actually really like the idea of her having these other ones:
Animal Voice. I don’t see the fandom talking much about Kouji, and I get that alright. But his quirk? I love it. Pairing it with Tsuyu would be so amazing, actually. I like the increased potential she would have in all of the areas (defense, offensive, rescue, capture) if she had this as well. She would be a formidable opponent when in her element, with you having to worry not only about her, but about all the other aquatic animals she would set out on you. They could easily help her find other people and get a better grasp of the environment as well as information gathering.
Water Creation. Kota’s quirk is actually a perfect addition to Tsuyu. It’s really self explanatory and she would be even more powerful, no matter if she’s on her element or not. She can use it for diversion, defense and to increase damage potential. The list goes on.
Anti-Gravity. I just really love Uraraka’s quirk, okay? Since Tsuyu also wants to become a rescue specialized hero, I find that something like Anti-Gravity would increase her scope in that area and facilitate a lot of rescue missions for her, especially when dealing with wreckage and natural disasters. It could have the potential of increased mobility and speed as well.
I’m gonna stop here otherwise you will hate me forever, this is too long xD I got so excited mate, I’m so sorry.
Other pairings I really like:
Erasure and Creation / Fiber Master and Creation / Homing and Erasure / Voice and Wave Motion / Dark Shadow and Warp Gate / Homing and Warp Gate / Frog Form and Recovery/ Frog Form and Creation/ Transparency and Permeation/ Voice and Telepath / Rewind and Decay / Rewind and Fat Adsorption / Animal Voice and Telepath

Broken Masks - Chapter 10: Calm
*Read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/25544242/chapters/61981285*
Izuku woke slowly for the first time in a long time. He felt warm and a soft brush of fur had him opening his eyes to a wall of fur. The fur shift to have large purple eyes that looked like the night sky. Venus licked his nose before wiggling down his chest to let him see.
He was laying on the couch in the living room, soft morning light filtering through the gaps of the curtains. He glanced down to see all three of the cats curled around him. Gray stretched across his side and the back of the couch while Princess wrapped around his feet. Wiggling his toes, Princess let out a tired growl and pawed at his toes before rolling over.
“Good morning, Midoriya,” Aizawa said, walking into the run and walking straight to the kitchen.
“Good morning, Mr. Aizawa,” Izuku said and tried to sit up but two annoyed yelps made him stop.
Aizawa chuckled as he watched before turning away to get a cup in the cupboard. “Looks like you’ve been claimed by them. Would you like some coffee?”
Izuku sighed, stroking Venus’ head, before saying, “Thank you, but I’m okay.” Aizawa hummed in response, letting Izuku zone out as he pet Venus and Gray.
Staring at the ceiling, Izuku smiled as his mind remained blank. No angry thoughts, no self-hatred. He knew they would come eventually, they always did, but right now, Izuku savored how content he felt.
Aizawa sat in the armchair and pulled out his phone. After a moment, he asked, “How was your time with All Might?”
“It was nice,” Izuku said with a small smile, “He told me a bit about his time at U.A.which was really cool.”
Aizawa nodded, returning to his phone and letting Izuku return to staring at the ceiling. It lasted for a solid ten seconds before Yamada came running in, shouting, “Good Morning!” Not bothered by Aizawa’s glare, Yamada danced over to the couch and held his arms at. “Princess!” She glanced up at her name but rolled back over with a blink. Stifling a laugh with a cough, Aizawa turned his gaze back to his phone when Yamada turned to pout at him.
“Looks like she found a new favorite,” he quipped not looking away from his phone when Yamada whined.
“Princess, how could you?” Hizashi gasped, pressing the back of his hand to his forehead. In response, the cat stood and moved to drape around the top of Izuku’s head, making Aizawa chuckle. “The betrayal.”
Izuku smiled and pat Princess’s head which she purred in response. You betrayed her too. No, he wasn’t going to let those thoughts ruin this. Shoving down the negative thoughts, Izuku glanced over to Aizawa. “Mr. Aizawa?”
“Just call me Shouta when we’re not at school, kid,” he said, looking up from his phone, “What do you need?”
Izuku perced his lips, struggling on how to ask. He settled on keeping it simple. “Do I get to go back to school?”
Yamada grinned and threw his hands out. “Of course! My class would be so boring without you, little listener.”
He nodded, deep in thought, “But with my mom gone, I can’t afford the tuition anymore.”
“Not a problem,” Aizawa said, “Your tuition will be covered by the school.”
“I’m sorry?”
Aizawa sighed and set his phone down. Leaning on his knees and interlacing his fingers, Aizawa said, “I suppose it would best to warn you before you return. You have piqued Nedzu’s interest which is a difficult thing to do meaning he will not let you go too easily.”
Too easily. Don’t. This means you will mess up enough to make him drop you. No! He didn’t want to go through this again.
“Depending on how you view this, Nedzu’s attention can be either a blessing or a curse. He will want to push you.” Izuku nodded, thinking of how much the teachers pushed him, how much Takaida pushed him. One more couldn’t hurt, right? Aizawa leaned back. “And I don’t mean just physically or academically. He will push in every aspect of who you are until you’ve passed his scrutiny.”
“Sounds like you’re talking from experience,” Izuku blurted out before slapping his hand over his mouth. Muttering was one thing, people generally didn’t listen, but Izuku did not want him blurting out his first thoughts to become a new habit.
Aizawa smirked. “You could say that.”
Shouta watched Midoriya play with Princess, dragging a feathered toy back and forth. The kid looked relaxed, almost normal if not for the bandages on his hands. He watched the way Midoriya studied the cat, continuously finding new ways to pull the toy away from Princess, only letting her catch when she was about to lose interest. He seemed to be analyzing the cat as much as she was the toy dancing a inches away from her.
Turning to glance at Hizashi just as he slammed his head onto the kitchen table. Papers scattered across the table, some fluttering to the ground with Hizashi’s movement. He sighed loudly and when Shouta failed to say anything, he sighed louder and longer.
“Are you alright, Mr. Yamada?” Midoriya asked instead making Shouta rolls his eyes at the sudden change in Hizashi’s demeanor as she sat up and grinned at the kid.
“That’s it!” Hizashi said, ushing over to pull Midoriya to the table. Princess pawed at the limp toy and when it didn’t dart away she swat it under the sofa and curled up in a patch of sun. “You’re a hero fan, you can help me.”
Pushing Midoriya into a chair, Hizashi sat down and collected a pen and paper before turning to Midoriya with a large grin. “W-what can I help with?” Midoriya asked, placing his hands on the table as the began to twitch.
“Okay, so,” Hizashi started, “I’m having Best Jeanist on my radio show next week and I’m struggling to come up with some questions to ask him. As someone who likes heroes and is a current hero in training, what is something you would want to ask him if you could.”
Midoriya hummed, tapping his chin in thought. Speaking slow, like other thoughts kept interrupting him, he asked, “Do you want a general question anyone in my position would ask, or something I, specifically, would ask?”
“Let’s go with one of each for now.”
“I think any aspiring hero would want to know why he chose to be a hero,” at that, Midoriya threw his hands up and rambled, “and not the generic ‘I want to help people reason’ because every hero has that. What I mean is, what was the thing that made him realize heroism was what he wanted to do.”
Hizashi stared at Midoriya, his pencil still. “That’s a really good question,” he began scribbling on the paper as he continued speaking, “I never thought to ask that. Well, I have, but never thought about expanding on that question. Genius!”
Shouta grinned at the large smile Midroya had plastered across his face. When Hizashi was done writing, he glanced up and Shouta could have sworn he had stars in his eyes when he asked, “Any more questions?”
“Well,” Midoriya hummed, going back to tapping his chin, “I want to know why he thinks his hero aesthetic is the right one.”
“What do-” Shouta began, moving to sit with them, but Midoriya plowed over him not even noticing he was talking.
“What I mean by that is why he feels the need to change the image of his interns to fit his ideals. Take Kacchan for example. He has an aesthetic that can appear harsh and intimidating which he’s admitted he needs help correcting, but instead of talking to him, Best Jeanist just decided he was wrong and corrected it to fit his own ideals. He didn’t bother to ask Kacchan why he had picked that design or what kind of hero he wanted to be. He just saw someone who didn’t fit his hero model and went out to correct that. So, I would want to know why he thinks his image is correct while there are thousands of heroes in the world.”
Hizashi’s pen tumbled from his fingers as he stared with his mouth open at Midoriya. Shouta doubted he was much better. After a few surprised blinks, Hizashi grinned, a little more mischievous this time, and grabbed his pen. He frantically wrote down what Midoriya said while shouting, “That’s ingenious!”
Shouta rested his hands on the table as he leaned back in his chair. “Is there a reason you would ask that?”
Midoriya fidgeted in his chair, looking very self-conscious with what Hizashi was writing by the way he kept glancing over at the man. “Well, as someone who’s struggling to make my own image, it’s difficult to see someone I know who worked hard to create his image be told theirs is wrong. Kacchan would never admit it, but what Best Jeanist said about his hero image damaged his confidence.”
Hizashi cracked his knuckles with a wicked grin. “I’m going to grill him so hard, he’ll never want to be on my show again.”
“What!” Midoriya snapped back to look at Hizashi and threw his hands up, “please don’t. I don’t want you to ruin your relationship with him just to ask my silly question.”
Hizashi laughed. “Don’t worry, little listener. If he can’t handle a question like this, he shouldn’t have agreed to my show. Plus, he always says he won’t come back on. I have to make sure that streak continues. Besides,” he said, slapping his papers, “this question will help a lot of people by letting them know there’s more than one type of hero in the world.
“It’s a good question,” Shouta added, “One that I think every hero should be asked at least once in their career especially those in the top twenty.”
Hizashi nodded along with Shouta’s word before scooting his chair a little closer to Midoriya. “Got any more?” Midoriya smiled and returned to thinking just as someone knocked at there door.
“I’ll get it,” Shouta said even though the two didn’t seem to notice as Midoriya continued giving Hizashi questions. Rolling his eyes, Shouta made his way to the door. Checking to see Naomasa standing at the door before answering, Shota sighed. He was too tired for the clusterfuck this was probably going to be.
Despite his desire to ignore Naomasa and just go to bed despite it being the morning, Shota opened the door. “Morning, detective. What can we do for you?” As he asked, he ushered the man inside before checking to see if anyone else was around. The hairs on the back of his neck rose, putting him on edge and despite confirming no one was around, he still felt like he was being watched.
Shutting the door a little too harsh, Shouta turned to watch Naomasa take his shoes off before leading him into the living room where the other two hadn’t even noticed his departure. With a loud cough to get their attention, Shouta gestured Naomasa to the couch.
Midoriya glanced over first, his bright smile instantly falling. “Is there a problem?” As he spoke, his shoulders stiffened and his hands began to twitch as he fought the urge to rub them together.
Naomasa smiled. “Not at all. I actually came here to return something to you, Midoriya.”
The kid raised an eyebrow nearly mimicking Shouta’s glare which filled him with smug pride. Naomasa lowered his briefcase and quickly pulled out Midoriya’s phone. Midoriya flinch back, but Naomasa was quick to reassure him. “Don’t worry. We looked over the phone and removed all the bugs. When we first looked over your phone, the techs were just looking through what was stored on it. We had no cause to suspect an external bug.”
He handed the phone to Midoriya who just stared at the device with apprehension. “I’m sorry you had to go through the trouble.”
Naomasa waved him off. “Don’t worry about it. Thanks to you, we were able to learn what the Veiled Assembly is using and managed to find two other bugs in Wrangler’s old agency. So thank you for bringing it to our attention.”
Midoriya nodded still staring at his phone. “Is it safe?”
The detective nodded. “One hundred percent. We went over it several times and I had the techs look it over one more time before I brought it back to you.”
Hugging the phone to his chest, Midoriya glanced up at Naomasa with tear-filled eyes, “Thank you.”
“It’s my pleasure,” he said, but held up a finger, “Hold on. There’s one more thing.” He pulled out a charger and handed it to Midoriya who beamed.
Shouta could tell by the way Midorya kept glancing at the hallway what he wanted to do. With a smirk, Shouta shrugged his head towards the hallway and said, “Go ahead, I’m sure you want to talk to your friends.”
With a hurried, “Thank you,” Midoriya was gone, making Hizashi laugh.
“I’ve lost my inspiration,” he sighed in disappointment which didn’t quite fit with his amused smile.
“Like it was yours, to begin with,” Shouta quipped and sat down to stare at the detective, “Now, what did you really come here for?”
Naomasa glanced at the closed door of the room Midoriya ran into and sighed, “There was a jail outbreak last night. Two prisoners escaped with the assistance of an outside source. One is a known member of the Veiled Assembly the other is the Dragon Villain, Midoriya Hisashi.”
“Shit,” Shouta hissed.
Naomasa nodded in agreement and pulled out a file to hand to Hizashi who was quick to open it. “This is a file of everything we have on the man along with the testimonies of his trail.”
“Midoriya’s mother testified?” Hizashi asked, stopping his flick through the papers. Shouta stood to look over his shoulder to read Midoriya’s Inko’s name followed by a court testimony.
Noamasa nodded again when they looked at him. “You’ll read it, but she confirmed suspicions of marital and child abuse. What worries me is the way she refused to answer some questions and the fact that she refused to testify until a day before. I’m suspicious of how much her statement is actually true.”
Shouta scanned over the text, his eyes returning to the portion of where the attorney attempted to get her to expand on what Hisashi did to their son. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Izuku was abused in his care. Midoriya Hisashi is a villain known for cruelty and I’ll be damned if I let that man near the kid.”
Naomasa smirked. “Figured that’s what you would say. Based on the fact that he escaped with a known Veiled Assembly member, we believe the group is planning something to get Midoriya back. Although the media believe Takaida’s announcement yesterday was about money, I think we both know what he really meant when he said green.”
“I’m assuming the string of murders is also the cause of the Veiled Assembly?”
“That’s what we’re running with at the moment, but we don’t know,” Naomasa sighed, “Their movements are chaotic. We can’t figure out why they targeted the District Attorney’s Office apart from making a statement to scare the public.”
“You want to know my guess?” Hizashi said, sitting on the arm of the sofa, “I think this is all a smokescreen. They’re trying to create mass panic so no one is paying attention to what they do in the shadows.”
Naomasa hummed as he nodded along. “That would make sense. Due to the panic, we weren’t as prepared to respond to the jailbreak and the media has yet to cover it since it seems less important to the killings.”
“All this work to get to Midoriya,” Hizashi said, “but why?
“You saw it,” Shouta said, gesturing to the table where Hizashi’s note lay forgotten, “The kid’s a genius. He picked apart Best Jeanist without much thought and I doubt he said everything he was thinking.”
Naomasa agreed. “His notebooks are intricate at best. Any organization would kill to have someone with that level of analysis on their side.”
“But he’s just a kid, “Hizashi defended, trying to keep his voice down, “Why him? What’s Black Mask’s endgame? What’s his motive?”
“That’s the problem,” Naomasa said, “We don’t know.”
Izuku stared down at his bright screen blinking at the thousands of messages he had. Choosing to delete every email without reading it, he turned his attention to his texts, smiling at each ‘get well soon’ message his classmates sent.
He went to respond to Iida’s essay of a message but paused. What would he say if they asked what happened? How would he respond to what happened to his apartment? About why he hadn’t come back to school?
Closing out of Iida’s message, Izuku chose to start small.
Izuku: Thanks for being there for me.
Simple and sweet. Izuku thought it was appropriate and made to turn his phone off, but the response was immediate.
  Katsuki: Whatever dipshit
Katsuki: I see you got your phone back. I can finally add you to the group chat to get our shitty class off my fucking case.
Izuku: …
Izuku: Could you hold off?
Izuku: At least for tonight.
Izuku bit his lip as he waited for a response. Was that too mean? Should he let him add him? You’re inconveniencing him. Stop.
  Katsuki: I’m calling you.
Izuku: !!!!!!
Before he could ask why, his phone began to ring, startling him so much he dropped it. Scrambling to pick it up, he slammed his head against the desk he was sitting at just as he answered, “Ouch!”
“Ouch to you too,” Kastuki barking out a harsh laugh, “What’d you do, hit your head?”
Izuku pouted as he rubbed his sore head. “Maybe.”
Katsuki laughed. “Good to know you have changed, moron. Anyways, how are you?”
“Better,” Izuku answered and when Katsuki hummed in disagreement, he continued, “Really. I’m not great, but I’m better than I was yesterday.”
“Good,” Katsuki said, “Now, tell me why you don’t want to talk to your friends.”
Izuku shifted in his seat. “It’s not that I don’t want to. I just can’t right now,” he proceeded in a whisper, “I-I don’t know what to say to them yet.”
Katsuki sighed, “You don’t have to say anything, dumbass. Just let them know you’re alive and that you don’t want to talk about anything that happened over the last few days.”
“I can’t do that, that’s mean.”
With a long groan, Katsuki said, “Then be mean. You deserve to be a little selfish, you know. No one will be mad at you for saying you don’t want to talk about it.”
“Maybe,” Izuku mumbled.
“Fine, I won’t add you to the group until you’re ready, but for the love of God, let your lover know you’re okay so they get off my fucking ass.”
“He’s not my lover.”
“Funny, how you knew who I was talking about though,” Katsuki said in a way that made Izuku image the shit-eating grin he was wearing.
“I-i…” Izuku’s face turned bright red as Katuski just laughed and hung up. He stared horrified at the blank screen, seeing his bright red face in the reflection. “That fucking jerk.”
