i love your richie bruce springsteen agenda.... do you have an artist you think that's a good "fit" for eddie?
omg tysm and wow thank u for asking I absolutely love analyzing music in the context of fictional characters
so I am not immune to the rock n roll richie/soft folk eddie agenda bc I love a good contrast but I hc richie as having like good relationships with his parents and sharing their vinyl records and bonding over music and stuff so I usually think of him as having like old soul music taste
honestly I was looking up late 80s/early 90s music that would fit Eddie the best and I think like all teenagers all the Losers would absorb each other’s music tastes in some ways but I’m landing on R.E.M. for Eddie for some reason:
“It’s the End of the World As We Know It” has the kind of frantic hyper-paced lyrics that would really just vibe with Eddie when he’s on a tear; “Everybody Hurts” works for when he’s in his feels; “Nightswimming” is a nostalgic love ballad that perfectly fits the idea of summers spent swimming in the quarry with Richie; and of course “Losing My Religion” is just so good as like a semi-angsty rebellion song for Eddie trying to figure out his life post-clown summer while also dealing with his ever-increasing, always-confusing feelings for Richie
#subject to change of course and I’m sure there are better answers#but idk I haven’t read the books so idk if this is accurate but for some reason eddie is so v catholic coded in my mind#eddie kaspbrak#eddie kaspbrak meta#reddie#i used to want to say Eddie was a carpenters guy but noah fence I don’t think Eddie has the patience for music that mellow all the time#Richie on the other hand fucks heavily with simon & garfunkel#richie is the old soul eddie might be a nerd but he’s the kind of nerd who doesn’t have time for other people’s nerd shit lmao
