My Best Friends

So I wrote a post a while back about my five stages of friendship. If you wanna read that it’s here:

Anyway. I wanted to tell you about the 4 people who are in stage 5 :) My best friends. (I’m not adding my fiancé in this, because he could have a whole post to himself 🥰)

So I’ll start with longest friendship first, and that’s my childhood best friend, Heather. We met in nursery when we were 3 years old; that will be 29 years in August! We don’t ever remember meeting, or when we became best friends, and I don’t really think we went through the five stages, but she is my oldest best friend. We’ve been through our whole lives together. Nursery, primary school, high school. We went to different universities, but stayed best friends throughout. Now she’s got a PhD and is a high school biology teacher. I was a bridesmaid at her wedding, and last October she and her husband had a little baby boy. She will be a bridesmaid at my wedding in July! We sometimes don’t speak for months, but when we do, we just pick up from where we left off and it’s wonderful!

Next is my best friend Panda. We met when I was 19 working in a shop together. We just celebrated 12 years in February. Our friendship was a slow burn. We started as friends and over the months developed a stronger relationship until we realised that we were besties. We’d go shopping after work every pay day and have sushi and buy clothes. Soon she moved jobs, but we continued to hang out. We briefly worked together again in another job, which was so fun! Panda and I have been through so much together and we still speak almost every day. We also watch shows on Netflix over the phone some nights and have to press play at the same time so we can watch together. I was her maid of honour at her wedding and she will also be mine at my wedding too!

Next is my long distance bestie, Shelle. We met right here on tumblr almost 6 years ago. We chatted over our love for TMNT and it blossomed into a wonderful bestfriendship. We found we could talk about anything and everything. I even flew out to Florida to meet her and we hung out for a week. It was amazing. She then came to Scotland for a week too! Until she moved to Montana in 2019, we literally spoke every day. But the bigger time difference kind of messed that up. She lives in Oklahoma now, and we try and speak as much as we can. Because of the strong relationship we’ve built, we can go a while without talking and still know how much we love each other.

Last is my newest best friend, Quentin. We met on 29th December 2019 while playing Portal 2 online. I’d never played the game online before, and he was the third person I was matched with. We chatted on the game for a bit before we added each other on discord. From there we spoke every single day for months. He lives in France and he planned to come stay with me last summer, but then Covid hit. We went through all five stages of my friendship post in just a few months. We’ve been there for each other through happy times and sad times. We just clicked instantly.

And there’s my four best friends in a nutshell. I love all of them dearly, and I know that they are all here to stay.
