i’m the first one who’ll say that directly stating “this song is about x” flattens it by removing its ambiguity and opportunity for subjective interpretations that make it poetic, so i’m not gonna say exactly what i think, but i WILL say that it was extremely funny for me to see someone say that they were mystified by Chinese House Flowers of all songs when, to me anyway, it’s one of the most straightforward songs on Full Force Galesburg meaning-wise, but 🤷🤷🤷🤷 that’s just my opinion!

#like. i get what every song on FFG is *about* in a general sense #but for a lot of them it’s more of an emotional understanding as opposed to ‘this song has a plot that i comprehend’#with Chinese House Flowers though i have a VERY specific interpretation that i believe has stood since i first heard it #it’s just very self-evident to me??#like. idk… maybe i’m wrong… i’ve never seen JD confirm it anywhere so i’ll never be sure #unless he randomly decides to elaborate on a nearly 30 year old song for some reason 😂😂#so i’m not claiming to be an authority on this - but i also like my interpretation and it makes sense to me #and the concept of someone having NO idea what’s going on in it is just really funny to me #no offense to anyone… i think the post i saw about it was years old so op shouldn’t see this #i’m just blabbering bc i really like the song and i’ve been listening to FFG at least once a day for weeks
