personal thoughts
I should be doing homework/doing anything but writing this post but whatever.
I've been raised Jewish all my life and I kinda just... felt like I didn't mind it for the longest time. I didn't really pay attention to that part of my identity. Until recently.
Nowadays I find it as one of the key parts of my identity. I have family from israel, I love our holidays, I love our cultural dishes, I love Shabbat and I love listening to my family speak hebrew: I love it all.
Although I am very pragmatic and don't totally believe in deities, I believe in tradition and I love my family's culture and tradition. I love talking about my ancestry and my heritage. And its so amazing seeing people out there who know so much more than me and its making me want to learn so much more!!! (im sorry for the tagging thats about to ensue, if any of y'all prefer not to be tagged PLS lmk, especially gay-jewish-bucky, whom I already tagged earlier today...)
Earlier today I discovered @gay-jewish-bucky, and then from there i found @buckybarnesisjewish and then @magnetothemagnificent. And if you guys ever see this post... I want to let you know how much I absolutely appreciate everything y'all post. You might have seen me liking and reblogging and commenting on all of y'alls posts and I just... It makes me feel so happy to indulge in this part of myself, because for the longest time I didnt feel like I could.
Being a first gen means that I feel very disconnected from my culture. I don't speak hebrew, I don't know a lot about it all, and my mom doesn't feel too strongly about going out of her way to share more about being jewish with me. So i've been left to my own devices and these sorts of accounts make me feel so happy. Especially when they talk about all the things I'm passionate about as well. I love seeing you guys talk about the #Bucky is jewish trope and I just will continue obsessing over everything because I want to learn more, and I want to truly know about my background.
Anyway if you've made it this far thanks for listening to my ramble. I've been going crazy over @gay-jewish-bucky liking my reblogs, as if they're a celebrity. please comment i love talking with people, Im a chatty cathy. I have ADHD. I love marvel. I love being jewish. I love speaking with people with similar or the same interests as me. feel free to shoot over a DM anytime (again, I love talking with people) and to follow my main tumblr @funky-cheese!!!! (this is supposed to be a solely reblog page.
