This anvil I beat upon has absorbed many an angry thought or hurt heart. It's carried me thru some dark times in my life. Instead of curling up and giving up. I beat my way thru it. I used that anger and that hurt to hammer out beautiful and fragile things. And when it was finished, I didn't see the anger and pain. I saw a beautiful thing standing before me. Full of potential and strength. This anvil, being a metalsmith, has healed a lifetime of hurt and pain. I've done a lot of thinking here, and sometimes a lot of feeling. Working thru emotions and letting them loose in a constructive way. This life path I am on is one I am truly happy to be traveling. I am blessed to do something I love, even in times like now where sales are slim. I had to remind myself that I create because I love it and sell it as an after thought. I didn't start out with this as a business. It became a business because people loved what I made and wanted it. That is where I am today. I am creating for the joy of it, the love of it, the healing process it provides. That is how I survive and thrive in life. Following the path of joy, love and passion. I hand craft everything you see here from start to finish, as well as doing the photography, website, shipping, social media, replying to your messages, and all of the other nuances that go into having a small business. I tend to share behind the scenes snippets and process videos mostly in my Stories, and can get a little bit shy about oversharing on the main feed. I’d like to show the person behind the “business” a little more, because BFJ isn’t a faceless corporation with mass produced inventory. Every piece is personal to me, brought to life by the same two hands over the course of many hours spent in focused solitude. I love this ring. So beautiful and comfortable to wear. Available in the online shop! I wore it traveling to Texas today to see my mom for Mother's day. Spent several hours visiting and ate turkey and sausage gumbo. (Dad killed the turkey last week. He loves to hunt them.) Got to hug my sister, niece, nephew, brother and sis in law while I was there. Good visit and now I'm headed back to NELA. Next time I'll stay over night and do some sewing with mom and maybe camp in the van by the lake.
