I dont follow the 3D printing scene very close, but as soon as I saw the Bambu come out and all its "closed ecosystem" shit and how 'smart' it was I just KNEW it was going to pull BS with its ToS and cloud at some point.

Kinda sucks that I was right. But glad I didnt even consider for half a second buying one.

It reminded me of the Glowforge, which was a lasercutter with a subscription model. If you didnt pay the monthly fee, it would nerf your laser cutters speed. (I dont know if the glowforge still does that, it havent looked in years)

Guarantee Bambu will go this direction in the next few years, even with the backlash. The signs are all there. The chips on their filament spools was the BIGGEST redflag. I give it a few years before Bambus ONLY work with their spools, just like inkjet printers.

I'll stick with open source thanks. My next 3D printer will be a RatRig. Is it more work because I have to build it? Yep. It'll take hours to put together. But some random tech company wont be able to brick my machine on a whim.

Anyway, fuck Bambu lol
