I'm not gonna lie this is clunky as hell so far, particularly in pacing and tone, especially the pacing, which is a shame because it's really getting in the way of a bunch of really solid performances from the cast throughout, but what the hell at least the team behind this clearly actually cares about the story being told, so it's at least fun.

#pjo #percy jackson #idk if riordan wrote the scripts but it sounds like a prose writer without any training trying to crank out a screenplay #with no knowledge of how a screenplay needs to flow beat to beat scene to scene #it's one of the most unforgiving tightly structured forms of writing #you HAVE to understand how that structure works to write a successful screenplay #and dont get me wrong there have been GREAT moments so far #but the way we're stumbling through it feels like a rough first draft #but its not just that the post production feels way off too #i cant tell yet if its editing or fx or what #the teams on set are the only ones nailing it sandwiched between something wrong in both pre and post production #makes it extra frustrating when a really great moment starts to shine through while its being held back by something behind the scenes
