Your last anon made me think a bit, because the hate coming from some buddie fans has been absolutely awful, but it’s not new (like you said) and it’s interesting bc buddie fans aren’t the only ones crossing lines and sending awful shit. I guess for me it’s not unexpected bc this is exactly what fandoms do, it just feels disingenuous to be like buddie shouldn’t happen now bc of all the hate. this is gonna sound dumb but it almost feels like corporeal punishment for the fans who are just vibing in their own corners of the internet.

I might just be in a mood so excuse me if I'm even more blunt than usual, but on one side of the aisle we have some of the buddie fans who are more and more aggressively coming up with shit that just tangibly untrue just to justify hating Tommy or the ship — as if they can't just dislike stuff and move on — and keep harassing the bucktommy fans and the actors and Tim...

on the other side of the aisle we have some bucktommy fans who think that just because the ship is currently canon that means it's written with eternal golden letters — and are also harassing buddie fans and sending hatemail to anyone suggesting otherwise (hey, hello, yes, this has happened to me too, personally).

what I'm saying is that these people are rancid and annoying regardless of who they ship. they are just miserable and pathetic and there is just no cure for stupidity, I fear.

but as you may know, cuz I talked about it before; I do think buddie will become canon down the line and that these same people will complain about how it happens, just to have something to moan about anyway.

I am with you and the other fans who are just here to vibe though and cannot really pay much energy to these people anymore, I just can't take them seriously...

my only wish is that they wouldn't bully the people working on the show, when all they do is work tiredlessly to create something so special and overall lovely.
