LAST DAY EVERYONE! You're all amazing!! Day 8 of #IgniteYourInnerFire is Flying Pigeon! Similar to grasshopper pose, but no twist! 🙏🏼 - Start in the same chair pose in figure 4, like grasshopper. Start to fold forwards to take hands to mat. Bend elbows back to rest shin as close to shoulders as possible. Make sure that the foot is flexed and hooking on to the outside of the opposite shoulder to maintain grip! Start to transition weight into hands. Press the shin into your upper arms and either pick up the bottom foot towards your seat, keeping the knee bent, or straighten the leg out up and back behind you! - Thank you to everyone who participated! Day 7 of #IgniteYourInnerFire is Grasshopper Pose! This pose works balance, twists, and core work so it’s definitely my favourite to use for stoking my inner fire! Be safe and honour your practice by choosing any variation of this that suits you best. 😊💪🏼 - To get into this pose, start in chair pose with your right leg in figure 4 position (right ankle just above the left knee). Take an exhale to prayer twist towards your right foot, aiming to get the right tricep into the sole of the right foot. Start to sit lower as you transition to twisted toe stand (place hands on ground for better stability). Place hands on mat with your right foot as close to your right shoulder as you can get it. Start to lift the hips to transition weight into hands. Make sure to bend elbows back like chaturanga to create a shelf for your right foot to rest on. Actively press down with the right foot! Hey yogis! Day 1 of #IgniteYourInnerFire is here and we bring you pranayama! My favourite form of pranayama to build heat and to stoke my inner fire is kapalabhati breathing. 🌬 - To practice this type of pranayama, find a seated position and focus your breath into your lower belly. The idea for this pranayama is to build heat through quick and explosive exhales/inhales. Take an inhale, then forcefully exhale through the nose by contracting your lower belly. The next inhale should come naturally as you release the contraction. Each inhale/exhale cycle should last about 1-2 seconds.
