Welcome Back iKON!

So after watching iKON’s new Music Videos a thousand times, listening to the first half of the album a ton of times, watching their Inkigayo stage, AND watching their debut concert on the V app, I think I’m ready to review this!

Well ready except for the fact that I only know how to say “I like, I love, I’m not sure....” since I still have no idea about film/dance/or music. Also this is MY OPINION and I love the group so if you disagree with anything just know I’m not a hater or anything. 

 Straight to title track #1: Rhythm Ta

               This is what I was waiting for! This is the confidence that is iKON and the sound I love. The dance is definitely something you would expect from iKON (if you watched WIN and/or Mix&Match). Jinhwan’s voice is amazing here (well everywhere but it’s addicting in this song). B.I and Bobby’s raps are smooth, with their personal style. Basically: love it.

               The MV: B.I, I have a bone to pick with your stylist. Cornrows and lip ring in the center of the lips is horrible. It looks tacky to me and like you’re trying too hard to be cool. Don’t try, you are cool. Other than that, the styles in the video fit them. I like how they dressed like a basket ball team, to say “we’re a team”, and even played basketball. It made sense video-wise.

 Title Track #2: Airplane

               The lyrics are cute, asking the airplane to wait for them. I guess their girl (seriously 1 girl for 7 members?) is leaving them, quite literally leaving on an airplane, and they don’t want to let her go so they are begging the airplane to let them get on it and go with her? It’s a really pretty song with plenty of airplanes in it,

Welcome Back

               Hey iKON shouldn’t we say ‘Welcome Back’ to you guys? Not the other way around? I mean, we ikonics have been here waiting for your return. This is a great opener to the album, strong enough to say Long Time No See ikonics.

 Today

               So this is my 2nd favorite off the album (after Rhythm Ta). It’s bouncy, even the raps! This is a dance track (at least to me it is).

 M.U.P

               I don’t think the chorus flows really well with the rap parts. Here’s how I can describe it: the vocals are the smooth breeze blowing the leaves while the raps are the butterfly flying. Butterflies don’t fly in a smooth line, just like the raps. I do like the song; it’s just not as good as the others.

 My Type

               Instead of rereviewing this, I’m just gonna say to check out my other post on My Type. Also, this song is stuck in my head now!

 So basically iKON produced a good ½ album and I cannot wait for November’s release of the rest of the album. I just hope Chanwoo gets more lines because he can’t improve if he isn’t given the chance…
