Beer break! Hopsecutioner IPA by @terrapinbeerco . Has a nice aroma, sort of earthy and malty. The taste is slightly less than that of other IPAs, but bold nonetheless. If hops is your thing you will like this brew. It sits on the palate very well and is not overbearing at all. Went on an adventure to @thebrasstaporlandpark today to watch the Bears and drink beer with good company. The Bears may have lost, but at least the beer was good. You Big Gummy New England IPA by @noonwhistlebrewingco . Citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Mango, orange, lemon, pineapple. The taste follows at first, then big tropical fruit. Medium body, slight carbonation, and the soft mouthfeel. Its been a long week and I’ve been craving a beer. Official Hazy IPA by @bellsbrewery answered the call. Poured a cloudy yellow with just a hint of orange, and with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus and piney hops, very full aroma. Tastes of citrus hops and light grain, just a hint of pine. Beer is light bodied and very easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer that hit the spot. Merry Christmas you filthy animals! Have a good one and a safe one out there! I’ve been having a pretty good day. I decided to try this particular beer that I’ve been saving just for today. Christmas Ale by @westsixth . The smell is rich in warm Christmas spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, with a bit of ginger getting into the mix as well. Almost like drinking a Christmas cookie. Roasted malts are among the most prevalent flavours and are swiftly followed by a nice, winter spiciness. The feel is wonderfully smooth, with carbonation that is absolutely spot on, and a wonderfully warming, yet still smooth feel. I went on an adventure today! My adventure led me to place that had been on my list for sometime. @madsocialchicago . A drink was called for and Day Of The Dead Beer Hop On Or Die DOA IPA by Cerveceria Mexicana S.A. De C.V. answered the call. Amber color with a thick head with short retention and leaving some scattered laces. It doesn’t smell much like an IPA. Bold herbal hoppy notes, lots of lemon, spices and peaches. Dry and bitter aftertaste. Medium to full body with low carbonation. This is Halloween! On a night like this it’s good to have just the right drink to celebrate. Warlock Imperial Pumpkin Stout by @stbcbeer was the right one. It does not smell nor taste like pumpkin pie, but a list of the ingredients. Heavy on the spices, and the roasted malt comes through nicely with a smokiness and minor chocolate notes. Well balanced between sweet and bitter. Next up out of my @beermonthclub delivery was No Shtick American Imperial IPA by @shmaltzbrewing . Very subtle hoppy smell. The taste is quite unique. Very complex, very hoppy. I got hints of earthiness yet it is not bitter and actually gets better with every sip. What was most interesting was that if you let this one sit for a bit and breathe the flavors really seem to open up and taste a lot better than when cracked open cold right out of the fridge. The brewery was introduced to me along with this beer to try. Coconut Porter by @citylightsbrewing . It tastes like an almond joy with extra toasted coconut. Flavors of some chocolate, some vanilla, a hint of coffee, and almond. The smell is straight coconut and malt. The body is quite thin for a porter. Overall, it is a fine beer, but you have to love coconut. We started our meal with a round of drinks. I decided to try the A Saison Named Desire (love the name) Belgian Saison by @secondlinebrew . This brew had a nice white, head, and lace. Cloudy orange-gold color. The smell was strongly fruity and floral. Taste is of spiced white bread, oranges, mellow bitterness, with a medium dry finish.
