"Hollywood needs to fucking get real with these three hour movies."
Shut up. Just don't watch the movie in theaters. The movie going experience is still another purchase; it's entirely transactional. Meaning you have to actively make a financial decision about whether you want to invest in those 1-3 hours that you are there to be held is suspended belief or disbelief. You can opt out because this is an exchange. You literally don't have to be there. It is really not that deep. I'm begging yall to be selective about the films you watch because this is such a dumb take!
I personally go to the cinemas to escape; to sit and recline in a dark room, be forced to put aside all distractions, and place my focus on being told a story that you will get to chew on for days to come. If you know you are not a "movie person," don't sign yourself up for that commitment. Just watch it on your home device where you can pause, take breaks, do what you need to do.
This is the wackest complaint that the internet has decided to band over and dogpile on. If directors and editors know how to pace their movies right, runtime won't be a problem!
#half of yall stay on your phones during 90 minute movies anyways#ppl are way exaggerating the number of 3hrs movies getting made as of late. most of the movies out rn are <140mins#its mostly big wig directors with huge named casts or major studios that can take the risk to make 3hr movies anyways#or indies bc they dont expect to make much money anyway but even so there's still not many 3hr films there regardless#also yall will bingwatch 8+hrs of a show in a day so length isnt that much of a turnoff. is bladder the only deterrent?#cos yall can plan for that. its not hard. hydrate but dont just chug a bunch of water before or during a viewing. also pee before#im far more intimidaded by a season of a show with 23+ episodes than one 3hr movie#rant
