gonna be honest, the whole ned thing doesn’t surprise me considering old buzzfeed employees have said some stuff about how ned was a manager when he worked there and tried recruiting ppl for their company and created a bad work environment (idk if that’s true) and also the whole nft thing but this-
anyway stream debrief on the watcher channel today and stan the tri guys
the nft thing is sooo like. your friends are constantly saying how harmful and stupid nfts are and you still decide you need a little video of a football game?? also he said in an instagram comment that he recorded an apology/statement on the trypod but i've watched every podcast since then and there was no apology or even mention of it lmao. plus that's his least popular platform so if he wanted people to see it (which i don't doubt he didn't since a lot of people still didn't know so i'm sure he would've wanted to keep it that way) he would've said something on the same platforms he bragged about his nft on.
i'm obviously not the first one to say that building his whole brand around loving his wife while simultaneously being a cheater and not a very good one is definitely a choice. by doing that he also kind of backed ariel into this corner of Famous White Guy's Wife (no matter how much he tried to brand himself as Ariel's Husband) and made it almost impossible for her to speak up about any problems within their marriage because that's then hurting the company. she's talked about problems with him a few times on you can sit with us that seem to just get brushed over because despite him not helping with housework and the majority of raising the kids still falling on ariel, they continue to frame their marriage as a perfect partnership because they love each other.
another thing that gets me is like... we know he's not Stupid. he was a chemist, he was a manager at buzzfeed, he did a lot of the managerial/administrative work for starting 2nd try, he's familiar with running a business and the importance of accountability and transparency so it follows that every "mistake" he's made has been deliberate.
anyways! stream ghost files: debrief! check your parasocial relationships! take care of yourself!
