Girl the tea tonight was steaming! I did think that it was funny how josh was going off about the new girls and he was completely right tbh. Like they just seem to be in it for the clout. I legit didn’t like the new girls at all. I felt like literally ALL of them were immature as fuck. They completely ruined the vibes (but more on that later.) The ONLY ones I liked were Flo and MAYBE Leslie after that cute little thing she had with Korey. Isabel annoyed the FUCK out of me. I thought maybe I would like Genevieve but nope she’s fucking annoying too lol. The recoupling didn’t shock me at all. The most shocking part was Olivia coming back single and now trying to force some shit with Korey. I don’t see it at ALL. Also.... hate to say it but I’ve had enough of Cash lmao she is really still out here thinking she’s the main character of love island. This thing with Cinco is pissing me off. Opinions on the BMC OBCR!

(Friendly reminder this is just my opinion! I think this cast recording is over all insanely good, I’m just being a little nit picky because I’ve loved BMC for a while. I had the privilege of seeing BMC in NYC in March, which was amazing and the live performance did influence my opinions a bit. If you have doubts about Will Roland as Jeremy, seeing it live will flip your opinions. Trust me. ❤️)

(edit: my overall opinion of this is that it’s great, but it’s trying WAY too hard. Am I the only one who thinks that the try hard sound completely erases the actual message of BMC? that you don’t have to be someone or soemthing you’re not to impress someone? I feel like the old score was just as amazing and the new actors could’ve done it justice without all of these wild changes. They basically took the creepy retro vibes out of BMC to keep up with modern broadway. I don’t have a problem with it, I just think that it erases the actual message of the show to an extent. I am so in love with Will Roland! He was wonderful live. Feel free to message me and discuss this!)

- Inclusion of more dialogue is good but I kinda think it breaks up the flow a little

- Will Roland yesss, this song is actually how he sounded live, I wish you could see how incredible he looked and acted during this song

- Inclusion of the “Boyf” dialogue is cute and definitely should’ve been added to begin with

- The new harmonies on “Christineeee” where Jeremy goes up a step is so nice

- Michael’s new part is just as adorable as before, kinda sad they took out the “so own it!” line tho

- Buttt more sweet giggles from Michael makes up for it!

- I don’t like how they cut off the last Canigula so quickly to make room for the chorus singing though idk

- The louder beat slaps tho

- I don’t like how Chloe’s last “I like gay people” is isolated unlike the original cast recording

- Gerard’s vocals have gotten even better like yes

- The instrumental sounds about the same as the old recording which makes me glad they didn’t change it too much

- Jeremy sounds scared when he says “you got quick” and I don’t know why ? That’s kinda odd like buddy are you good

- Is rich ok like at all in this song

- The song isn’t as like soft if that makes sense

Two Player Game

- Michael sounds like wants to die when he says “apocalypse of the damned” at the start shaksksks

- BUT THIS SONG IS SO GOOD it’s another one they didn’t change very much

- The instrumental is a little more pop-y but otherwise it’s still got that retro vibe

- George was keeping it real and not changing his vocals in the song for us thank u

- Will Roland come thru with those harmonies once again

- Jeremy’s verse is really soft and sweet and I love it he just sounds done

- The extra lil video game sounds are spot on

- Jake’s “that freak is freaking out” isn’t that funny in this recording sjsksksksk I’m sad

- The Squip’s surfer voice was less prominent live and more realistic and I’m not sure I like it that much in the recording

- The Squip has a solo part at the start!! It’s adorable

- The Squip calling Jeremy Bae and Boo makes me wanna die tho

- The first part isn’t sung anymore which makes me wanna die too bc he has such a nice voice

- The Squip’s vocals in the chorus tho yes ma’am

- I don’t like how it takes Michael’s little part out of it because I think it was necessary plus the instrumental part of that slapped

- Also I think it gives us a good insight into the characters but it could’ve been placed somewhere else maybe?

- I also think the beat isn’t very uniform and is kinda messy and the dialogue is more interesting than the actual song

- It shows how nice Jeremy is tho

- I liked this song live better because the actual song just isn’t interesting enough to be a song on its own

- Jeremy and Brooke’s interactions in the song is really nice

- I love the distorted little “na na na” from more than survive though you can tell it’s slightly off

final thoughts: CAN YOU BELIEVE WE STILL HAVEN’T HEARD JEREMY SING SOLO????? OUTRAGEOUS. no but actually. his touch me scene would have been perfect for a realization moment for simon. i’m really hoping we see that later because it would HIGHKEY be a wasted opportunity. anyway. a LOT happened in this episode, but not as much as last week. lou had his breakdown. tbh don’t really care about his storming out bc tracey could still save this show. also it felt like lou was almost purposefully jabbing at robbie, so not surprising there.

we had like,,, not enough lilette this ep. i wish they’d put more into her storyline. it feels like she got robbie and kind of faded back. at most she acts as a vice in her mother’s storyline with coach or as the supporting character in simon’s.

which reminds me: simon’s storyline. quite probably one of the best aspects of the show. ted does a fantastic job of showing simon’s emotional turmoil and sean is swell as usual, even if he’s a side character. that confrontation was REALLY nice to see because i was worried they were gonna portray jeremy as liking simon no matter how harsh simon could be, so i’m glad to see jeremy standing up for himself a little bit even if it’s making simon more conflicted. also i was CACKLING at the fucking deadpan woybr scene like the way jeremy just looks away and rubs his nose and simon’s sitting there like fuck and lou’s like,,, please,,,,,, can we have this one thing,,,, god that’s the peak of comedy sorry to say it. i’m super excited to see more going forward.

and sasha and michael?? heckin cute. i really liked that they showed the impacts of what both are going through and that they resolved it peacefully in the end. i ALSO appreciate that they’re showing sasha really thinking through whether or not she’s keeping the baby, even though her douchey boyfriend seems convinced she’s getting an abortion.

also, if they hurt my boy maashous i’ll riot. i feel like we’re gonna see a lot more maashous angst moving forward and idk if i’m ready. his scene with the wife and the dryer where he literally thought he was getting himself kicked out was beautiful, rarmian did great. 

also gwen and gordy are together and they fucked on the beach gross do u know how bad sand is for your hoo-hah so i guess that’s that?? like what else are they gonna do with that now???

anyway,,, siremy was the highlight of the episode but who’s surprised. also annabelle was being a self-centered hecker and like,, that’s not you barb what is you doing.

Hey! I’m going to start publishing my concert honesty journal on here because I need some motivation to write about my performances every day. Don’t feel obligated to read it obviously, I just want a place online to shout my feelings into the void haha.

Concert Honesty

6/1/17 - Newsies (Performance #3)

I wanted to start writing these concert honesty posts because with all of these shows I’m playing this summer I want to remember each one specifically. Plus I think it’ll be a good exercise or me to try and reflect on my playing every day.

Tonight was good on my end - I was finally able to get my head in the show and enjoy most of it. Last night I was so all over the place that even though Jeremy and Andi (my roommates) were in the audience I couldn’t bring myself to get into the work. Tonight was different (thank god), and I felt really engaged the whole time. Played pretty well, a lot of the grooves in this show have started to settle. I had one moment tho where my hands glitched out, i think it was during one of the reprises of the Carrying the Banner groove. I was playing quarter notes on a cross stick and for some reason was suuuuper early on one of the beats. That stuff scares me because even tho I’ve begun to feel good about some aspects of my kit playing again, it’s weird when my hands just stop working like that. More reps I guess?

Adam (the bass player) had a bad show, he came in early on a part, played the downbeat when the tune ended on an upbeat, and then missed this sweet groove section that we’d been hyping on earlier. All good tho, I’m glad him and I can joke about our mistakes. He’s a solid player and im glad that we get along well. I was the most nervous about what the bass player would be like when I first came to the the theater because a good or bad bass player could make or break the whole show… Adam is really good though and I can tell that we’re going to be good friends. The Trombone player got off on these important hits in Seize the Day and stayed off for a solid 16 bars or so. I don’t get how that could happen. It’s one thing to come in incorrectly but to stay off for a significant amount of time, especially when we’ve now been playing this show for a week and a half is crazy. Makes me laugh cause my professor Jonathan at school yells at us when we are “one 16th note late” haha. Overall happy with tonight.
