Thank you disney for making a movie about a latino culture thats good.

(Theres probably others but only 2 are mentioned because thats all we remeber and talk about)

I enjoyed encanto a lot, but im white as hell and cant connect with the actual themes of generational trauma

I can only talk about the plot really

Which was theurally enjoyable, my only negative is how they just wrapped up the healing proccess instead of leaving it a bit more open ended, but thats really minor and doesnt ruin anything for me

I did however relate to the raccoons that played before the movie because my family has a history of abuse, but I cant relate to encanto at all, other than the smaller themes that are more of a general thing

But i know someone who can and did see himself in the movie. Its honestly lovely to see, seeing as tho theres another movie made about his culture that he doesnt like-

Its great knowing that abuelas accent reminds him of his mom, or that they colored the palms of peoples hands correctly (on our second watch it hit him how close to home the movie was, literally just looking at his hands, and none of us knew what was happening so all i could do was tell him his hair reminded me of brunos lol. Thankfully they where /pos tears)

Its great, but then we also have a disney pixar movie about his culture that he fucking hates-

Not once have i seen someone not like coco. Other than me and my friend.

I remember virtually nothing about coco, never even finishing it, but my friend has some fucking thoughts on it wondkekrk

The only redeaming quality's that he said was "the dog lore, and the jaguar lore" thats all he said. Theres alot of movie, and thats it.

When it comes to the plot..

Theres a better day of the dead animated movie made for a western audience thats actualy made by someone who has personal experiences with the holiday and the culture that actually made me cry

Book of life has its faults but is super enjoyable

Coco is forgetable to me and makes no sense.

Its supposed to allude to imagration I think? But it makes no sense and isnt handled greatly? Also the main charecter sucks, he literally steped on peoples memorials and stole from a dead mans grave. Hes a bad dude yes, but red hoodie kid (forgot his name) didnt know that- whats his excuse

All in all, the plot of encanto is good and i cried the whole time, and the plot to coco is forgetable to me
