80s Kameko! Who I've had a design for for a long time and have included in art multiple times but have never elaborated on. Whoops.

(80s) Imai Kameko is a 15 year old Shinigami from Japan living in New York. She is supposed to be here to do Shinigami work, but... She got a little distracted. What she usually does instead is play as lead guitarist and singer for a band playing shows in a nightclub she's not even old enough to get into.

After most of her shows she sees a fan in the ally way and talks to for a bit. He's also 15 and dresses in a way that completely covers his face and body. She assumes this is so he can sneak in and doesn't plan on ratting him out. She's grown quite fond of him.

When threatened she can turn her guitar back into her scythe. The foot clan has learnt this the hard way on more than one occasion. But she generally will not go out of her way to get into trouble and really just wants to hand out and play her music.

OOOOF- tough one.

I guess when I set aside all other stuff and go just with designs I’d have to go with Rise. She had the most tweaking in her design being finalized because she was effectively the first “revival” attempt of this character (who I had originally made completely nameless when I was 7)

Do you think that Imai Kameko would fit at all into the universe of the batman vs tmnt film? I love seeing all of your interpretations of her, each version looks distinct, but still recognisable as the same character, and they all look really cool!

Honestly I haven’t watched Batman vs TMNT, but am aware of its existence. For the kind of “middle period” movies between 2003 show and 2012 show (ie, 2007, Turtles forever, Batman vs TMNT) I use/envision 2003 Kameko with the same basic backstory and relationship to the turtles and with Donatello in these films

(I’m aware Turtles Forever is a 2003 universe movie I just think I’d get my head bit off if I didn’t acknowledge it existed)

Oroku Kameko was born to Oroku Saki and an unknown mother in New York 1999. Her father was largely uninterested in her or being present as a father and she would mostly be raised by Nanny's, rarely seeing him. She was not aware of his involvement with the foot clan and had no involvement with it herself as her father saw her to be mostly useless. 

She was diagnosed with autism at a young age and had great difficulty socializing with peers. this in combination with the absence of her father left her mostly isolated. Despite this she was very bright and took a great interest in an architecture and city planning, and would spend a lot of her time after school wandering the city and mapping things out for herself. 

When she was 13 she decided to try and map out the sewer system in New York on her own. In starting this project she became aware that there were frequently people around her age (albeit they seemed much larger than her) moving around in the sewer and talking. She became very fascinated by this as the frequency and lack of maturity in the voices seemed to indicate it wasn’t any kind of maintenance team.... This would culminate with her entering the sewer herself and finding the home of Splinter and the turtles. 

Ultimately they deemed that there was no effective way to keep her from coming back since she found her way there herself, and she didn’t seem like she was actually going to tell anyone or bring anyone else there, so she was let go... Only to repeatedly return to hang out with her “new friends.” 

Over the years with Donatello specifically she thought she made her romantic interest in him very clear, but apparently having never interacted with anyone outside of his family, this went completely over his head.

During the events of the movie she tried to stop her father from poisoning the city and killing the turtles, assuming as his daughter he would at least care somewhat about what she had to say. he did not, and was rather offended she would choose to align herself with mutants rather than him. She sustained minor injuries in the form of shallow gashes across her stomach that would later scar. 

Following the events of the movie she would make her feelings towards Donatello more clear and start a romantic relationship with him.

She is the only Kameko who isn't a shinigami and has absolutely no battle capabilities. She’s just kind of around.
