going through all the trial sources to add them as links is so weird and funny because a Lot of them (esp. vmax because Of Course) are bits of information that only survive via Some Orator Roasted A Guy So Hard That People Wrote It Down. rip to the historians stuck trying to reconstruct a trial from sources that are like. haha scipio aemilianus called this guy an ass one time

One of my FIRST heroes and role models at 5 years old (along with #ShakaZulu), the cunning and fearless master strategist and legendary commander of the Carthaginian Military forces, Hannibal Barca... This is what history records him proclaiming to his men as they grasped at the glory of death in service to Carthage as they approach the formidable Roman gates and their great armies... So many scholars WISH he was, but Hannibal was not European... how laughable - you cannot and not permitted to pick and choose what suits your needs to feel important and select you like from Africa to deny Africa it’s due and make yourself feel good... the time of that swindling has expired... I am MORE THAN PLEASED to debate/discuss this issue of his origination with any scholar or person with an informed opinion/position... #Hannibal #HannibalBarca #Africa #African #Tunisia #General #Black #Commander #Gaul #Spain #Elephants #Punic #PunicWars #Hasdrubal #Mago #Imilce #Aspar #Barca #Carthage #Purple #Gold #Royal #Cunning #Courage #Determination #Commitment #Relentless #Ancestors #ZeGee (at Olympia, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5q68-7HrkK/?igshid=1c7cp0i7xorv6

On Aegor and Hannibal. Bittersteel founded the Golden Company who use elephants. Hannibal Barca was know for using elephants (and crossing the Alps with them) and for commanding succesfully an army formed by mercenaries from different cultures and backgrounds.
How could I forget the elephants?

There’s also some dispute whether Hannibal was married (the poets like Silius Italicus and gossipmongers like Livy attest to Imilce, Polybius and Appian don’t mention her) or had children, much like the current debate over if he married Calla/loved Shiera/sired children. Then there’s the long period of exile by his own city, due to having to pay for the indemnity following the Second Punic War, and the rifts between Aegor and various Blackfyres, culminating in him dying without them in the Disputed Lands. There’s even a rivalry (though much more affectionate, considering they had dinner together at Ephesus) between himself and the young Roman general who beat him at Zama, P. Cornelius Scipio “Africanus”. Really, there are many parallels if you know where to look.
Thanks for the ask!
