Step 3: Rasterize the layer by right-clicking in your layers palette onto the layer with the text on it and hit “Rasterize Type” Right click on it again and hit duplicate layer 3 separate times. Click on the top layer and go to “Filters” on the toolbar above. Click “Noise” and then “Add Noise” In the amount field type in 25%. Check the boxes for “Uniform” and “Monochromatic”

Step 4: Click on the second layer and go to “Filters” on the toolbar above. Click “Noise” and then “Add Noise” In the amount field type in 26%. Check the boxes for “Uniform” and “Monochromatic” Click on the third layer and go to “Filters” on the toolbar above. Click “Noise” and then “Add Noise” In the amount field type in 27%. Check the boxes for “Uniform” and “Monochromatic” Click on the fourth layer and go to “Filters” on the toolbar above. Click “Noise” and then “Add Noise” In the amount field type in 28%. Check the boxes for “Uniform” and “Monochromatic”

Step 5: Save your work! You do not want to lose it!

Step 6: Click on “File” and then “Jump To” and then “Edit in ImageReady”. Photoshop will transfer all of your work into this program so that you can work with the glitter animation.

Step 7: On the bottom left of the screen you should see a little animation window with a thumbnail of your file in it. Below the thumbnail there are little buttons. You are going to find the button that says “Duplicate” and hit it three times so that there are four little thumbnails instead of one.

Step 8: Whatever layer is visible with the little eye icon is the layer that will show up on a frame. Click on Frame 1 and make only Layer 1 Visible by making sure the eye is ONLY checked off next to layer one and no others. Then, click on frame two and make sure only layer two is visible and no others. Do this with all of the layers removing the background from each for a transparent look. You should now be able to hit “Play” to see your glittery text in effect. Hit “File” then “Save Optimized As” and name your file. It will save as a .Gif which will allow it to move beyond ImageReady whereas saving it as a .JPG it would not animate when opened. There you have it, custom glitter text!
