1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?

i do! gotta change it to avenir in MS word and pages, but in scrivener i leave the default, which i can’t tell you rn. but i’m an avenir bitch all the way.

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?

incredibly difficult: all things terminal illness and suicide. but also sometimes just a sadness or loneliness so deep that even i as the writer think ‘wow how the hell are we gonna fix this now’. time travel steve is emotionally draining to write for, for example. i have to write soft easy light things in between to make up for it.

easy: uhm all things good? kindness comfort love joy happiness — all of that. but also, trauma, loneliness, depression, healing — in the right doses of course.

‘subject matter’ is really difficult because i’ll write just about anything if it gets me closer to the character or if it provides an angle i like to explore. what i suck at is plot and action scenes, but that’s hardly ‘subject matter’, i think, so i’m sorry if this answer is kinda woozy

35. What’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?

never start your sentence with conjunctions (‘but’, ‘and’, ‘because’, etc). i don’t care for that shit at all. i guess it’s kinda my style, sure, but there’s just something so narrative about not giving a fuck and just starting your sentences with ‘and’ or ‘or’, giving the full-stop just that much more power. there’s some funky science going on with punctuation, and i love it.

but also just the way it sounds then! i heard someone read out one of my chapters to me once in discord because she wanted to live react, and she read it, and we were like “damn this is really good for reading out loud; like it’s meant to be told” — and idk that just stuck with me.
