Ok so, people were interested so here
Ok so
It takes place after the kraang invasion for rottmnt and at the beginning of season 1 for 12 tmnt
Portal shenanigans happens and oop, rise leo is thrown in the 12 universe
He bonds with them (even tho a certain turtle is jelly rn) and the episode where raph and leeo fight about leadership happens, and instead of raph going "i can be a better leader" he actually goes "i bet that leon over there would be a better leader"
They nominate leon as leader, and leo storms off, he meets karai, usual stuff
And the snakeweek incident never happens cause leon actually manages under stress and didn't freeze like raph did in the og episode
So leon is still chosen leader by the team (splinter is very blissfully unaware because the boys kept this between them)
The tension between leo and Leon only gets thicker, leon knows that this is not good, he knows that leo's bros are only trying to get under his skin and they don't mean any true harm, but he can sense thaat there's something wrong
One day he catches leo watching space Heroes by himself
So he scoots over
"what'cha watching?" he asked, obviously trting6to strike a conversation
Any emotions that were visible on leo's face fell, silence, then he proceeded to answer "space heroes..."
"what's it about?"
"... Its about this space captain that saves galaxies with his team"
"ooooo, just like jupiter jim!"
Leo frowns, and Leon doesn't know why so he decides to lighten it up a bit by explaining what JJ is
"it's a sci-fi space show too! It actually has the same premise of space heros where-"
"CAN YOU NOT -" the shout of leo cuts him off
"huh-"
"So what?! You're gonna replace space heros too? That's what you're gonna do?"
"jeez kid, no need to get so defensive, it's just a tv show-"
"IT'S NOT ABOUT THE SHOW—"
Silence fell heavy on the room after that, leo deciding ro break it
"it's not about the show- it's about- ALL OF THIS! yiu can't just- just waltz in and take the ONE thing i was good at and act like nothing' s going on!"
"leo-"
"Being leader was the onky good thing i had! The only purpose i was able to serve! Raph is the strongest, donnie's the smartest and mikey's the life of the team! But me?! I got NOTHING! sure i can come up with plans, but nothing as precise as donnie's, i can crack jokes but no one laughs at them like they do at mikey's, and i can pull my weigh, but raph can pick all of our weights, the only reason i train hard everyday is so i can keep up with them! And when i finally got something, when i finally have something of my own, you decided to come in and take it! Heck they never listen to me when i talk about space heros, but suddenly they're interested when YOU decide to talk about your stupid jupiter jim, and i kmow for sure that they're not fans of space sci-fi! "
Leo stops as he draws in a deep breath after dropping that shell bomb doing nothing but leaving leon stunned and speechless
"... Who am i kidding, you're the fun Leonardo, everything I'm not and everything they'd want... Of course they'd listen to you..."
Silence is invading the place again before its broken by leo as he gets up, the show he'd been watching long forgotten and abandoned
" j-just leave me alone... You got brothers that would love your company more than mine... Plus I'm pretty boring to hang around with"
And with that he retreated back to his room
Leon just sat there processing everything
These kids need to talk this out, asap

The Adventure - TMNT Bitches: Chapters 4 & 5
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 4:  The Ping
·         Baxter Stockman sits staring absent-mindedly at the computer screen.  He’s been watching the screen for hours, waiting for a sign from the interdimensional portal device to let him know where Shredder went and where to send the rescue team.  However, even though he’s staring straight at the screen, he isn’t seeing anything flashing across it.
·         Stockman’s mind is having a slight issue with focusing after Karai’s parting threat.  What type of mutant would he turn into?  A hippo?  A raccoon?  A frog? A gelatinous pile of ooze?
·         Or, would he even survive the mutation?  The more time Stockman spent studying the mutagen, the more he has come to realize just how unstable and dangerous the substance is in Earth’s atmosphere.
·         They had gotten VERY lucky that both Bebop and Rocksteady survived the initial mutation trial. By his calculations, the mutagen would kill 1 out of every 5 people and that ratio only increases the more unstable the chemical becomes.  Sure, Krang keeps them supplied with a fresh batch every so often, but the fact still remains, the substance and the subsequent mutation are dangerous for the test subject.
·         Karai really wouldn’t mutant him, would she?  After all, he is the brains behind their operation!  Where else will she find a someone with his knowledge, with his skill, with his ambitions?  Without him there IS no operation!
·         He is still contemplating his uncertain future when a pinging alert sounds from his computer. He can’t believe his eyes!  There on his screen a little dot flashes to indicate that the portal device has powered back on and it has sent over the last known Jump coordinates.  He feels elated, relieved, and then shocked.  The last known Jump coordinates were one thing, but the actual devices location is another…the device is still here in this dimension and in New York City no less.
·         He watches the screen as the little dot flashes and then disappears all together, sending back a exact copy of the previous Jump coordinates.  The device is no longer pinging in NYC, nor this dimension. Someone just used the device to follow Shredder.  “Turtles”, Baxter spits from his mouth, knowing full well who would want to follow his master into another dimension.
·         He quickly phones Karai to let her know that he’s got the coordinates of Shredder’s location and then he sends a message to the backup portal device to command Bebop and Rocksteady to come back and get armed up, they’ve got to stop those turtles.

CHAPTER 5:  Normal Among Freaks
·         The brothers stand clustered together on the top level of the parking deck, taking in the foreign surroundings.  Hoping that this dimension isn’t too divergent from their own; otherwise, they will be ill-prepared for this trip.
·         Mikey breaks away from the group to follow his curiosity, all the merry voices drifting up from the streets is just too tempting to ignore.  As he looks over the edge of the parking deck, he sees all forms of aliens, vampires, people in Viking armor, people in battle body armor, people dressed in renaissance clothing, wizards and witches, women in small barely-there outfits, people in super hero attire, others in space suits, robots, and so much more, he can’t believe his eyes, “Hey, dudes, um…how sure are we that this place is like ours?”.
·         “I’m pretty sure, Mikey,”, Donnie says over his shoulder, while swiping through screens, trying to see if there are any traces of Shredder still left in the area, “why do you ask?”.
·         “Ahhhh..well…because…um…I’m not seeing a lot of normal people down there”, Mikey replies back, his voice full of tension, “I think our new looks may not work for us here”.
·         Raph runs over to join his smaller brother at the edge and is immediately flabbergasted by the display…especially the barely-there outfits of many of the women, “Shit!  Ya guys gotta see dis!”.
·         Leo and Donnie begrudgingly join the other two at the edge of the parking deck to survey the spectacle that has their brothers so enthralled.  Their eyes sweep across the scene and they are equally amazed by what they are seeing.  Leo lifts his brow at Donnie in a questioning gaze.
·         Donnie pulls his goggles from his forehead, over his eyes, and starting electrically analyzing the scene, “Hm.  Well, Mikey, I think we are still safe.  It appears that all the biological beings down there are indeed humans, just in costumes…hmmm…most of which seem to be crafted out of fiberglass, foam, and various textiles”.  He replaces his goggles back on his head and goes back to his virtual computer screen, scanning through some information, “AH!  This explains it!  The data screaming out of some of these buildings states that there is a Sci-if/Comic Book Convention, by the name of Dragon Con, taking place over the next few days”, he says with a wide grin.  He sighs and with longing in hazel his eyes he adds, “I’ve always wanted to go to one of those”.
·         “OH, OH, me too! ME TOO!”, Mikey affirms excitedly. His eyes light up with joy at the prospect at socializing and partying, “Can we, Leo?  Can we catch it out?”.
·         At that moment, Raph sees one woman practically nude except for a set of heels, a collar, a thong, and some black tape crisscrossed over her areolas, “Damn, I’d like to check her out.”.  Raph leans over the lip of the concrete deck and cat-calls down to the woman below, “Babydoll, can I take that tape off with my teeth?”.  The woman looks up at his roguish grinning face, she takes in his large body, his shirt pulling taunt and tight across his torso so she giggles and waves at him, replying, “Any time big boy, come find me.”.
·         “Oh, I’ll find her alright.  Leo, I’ve got a mission”, he turns to Leo and Donnie grinning proudly.
·         Leo gives a no-nonsense look to all of his preoccupied brothers, “We came here on a mission.  We don’t have time to play around.  We’ve got to find Shredder before he has a chance to use that mutagen.”
·         Mikey’s carefree face falls once again and he stares longingly down into the streets below, “But it looks so fun!  We finally look normal, it would be nice to join in for once.”, he mumbles in a broken-hearted tone.
·         Raph’s mood turns sour at being denied a chance to follow his…instincts…and he throws Leo a confronting stare.  “Just our luck!  We ooze ourselves ta look like them and now all of them are looking like freaks like us”, Raph declares sarcastically while gesturing with his large hands towards the costumed crowds below.
·         A grieved huff comes out of Donnie as he crosses his arms and rebukes Raph’s assessment of his fellow nerds and geeks, “They are not freaks!  They are cosplay enthusiasts who gain satisfaction from crafting genre replicas and embodying their favorite heroes and villains.”
·         “Yeah, like I said, freaks.”, Raph echoes back with a half-cocked smile and rolling his massive shoulders.  He knows when he has Donnie on the defensive about his geek stuff and nothing brings him more joy than egging-on his nerdy brother…especially when he’s been denied playtime by Leo.  He’ll take his fun where he can find it.
·         “We should get back from the edge and try to go as unnoticed as possible,” Leo says a little unsure of situation and the effect that it is having on his brothers.  He doesn’t like the unsettling feeling of being uncertain, of the group already getting distracted, and is still in the habit of wanting to remain hidden.  He backs away from the edge and turns to Donnie, “Donnie, is there any indication that Shredder was here and where he may have gone?”.
·         The tall dark haired mutant starts scanning the area as Leo follows him, they move towards the middle of the parking area, following Donnie’s scans.  Raph pulls a very curious and reluctant Mikey back from the edge of the parking deck, by the collar of his shirt, to join their brothers. Donnie’s scans send back confirmation of black hole activity, other than their most recent arrival, and he is still scanning the horizon when they hear a blaring horn.

Like A DAD !
Summary:  Three times where the brothers see Raph as a dad, and one time he finally notices.
Made with @prototypelq
Also on Ao3
.
1- Donnie
Currently, Donnie was near the entrance of his lab as he stared at the floor while Raph was in front of him and lecturing him about his actions, even if he wasn’t really listening to his big bro.
The reason of why he was in this situation to begin with was that he had been building a new, very clever and effective upgrade for his high-tech bō and had the less brilliant idea of testing it soon after finishing it. That is, around two in the morning, when all of his brothers and also Splinter were asleep and he was the only one still up tinkering in his workshop.
But sadly, his genius idea literally went up in smoke as it exploded during the test with a strong and very loud "BOOM" that echoed through the sewers.
Who was immediately followed by a powerful "DONIIIIIIE!" And if he knew the red turtle as well as he thought he did, and he knew he did, it usually meant 'You’re into trouble young man!’.
"Do you realize you could have hurt yourself like that?" And here he was, as his big brother lectured him.
"Sorry, Raph…" Honestly, he just wanted to go back to his workshop to find out what was wrong with the upgrade, but he knew that with Raph watching over him, that would be impossible.
“You better be sorry! Do you know how you worried us with that explosion? Besides, what were you doing at two am working? You are supposed to be sleeping!" The oldest turtle continued to scold him.
"Oh that’s fine, you're not my dad!"
"I'm not, but that doesn't stop me from worrying about you!" Even though his older brother's tone and voice were angry, his face only expressed concern for his younger brother.
Donatello rolled his eyes, sometimes Raph's brother protective instinct was hard to handle.
Seeing his little brother's reaction, the red turtle realized that he wasn't listening to him anyway and that it was already quite late.
Raph sighed, "Okay, I’m gonna pass for this one. But next time you experiment something, please avoid doing it in the middle of the night? And above all, avoid almost exploding yourself please?" His voice had grown softer as he spoke.
"Yeah, got it..." Donnie was still kinda upset that he couldn't continue his tests, but since he had just blown up about half of his workshop, he judged that even if Raph let him go, he couldn't doing much anyway.
“Okay, back to bed now." Was the only warning the purple turtle had before Raph took him like he weighed absolutely nothing (which was probably the case now that he thought about it) and started to walk to his brother’s room.
“Hey! I can walk!" He had too much pride for that! Seriously, he wasn't a baby anymore! He didn't need his brother to put him to bed like he and his brothers did when they were little turtles, no matter that his brother was still the tallest of the family and that he was always been able to lift them easily.
At that his brother just hummed and continued on his way. In reaction, Donnie gasped dramatically, as if his own brother had betrayed him, and that reaction was not at all dramatic, okay!
Raph finally let him go and Donatello landed on his bed with an ‘ Oof ’ sound.
"How long have you been awake anyway?" ‘Too long’ was what he wanted to reply but he kept his mouth shut, his brother continued, "You shouldn't be working until that late Donnie. Well, good night lil’ bro!" The larger turtle says in the same tone that a parent would talk to their kid.
“Yeah, good night Raph." He answered with his voice a little blocked as his was still face first into the mattress. His brother laughed a little and smiled softly, before leaving he added "Don't go to bed too late."
Honestly, Raph was behaving more like a dad that a brother sometimes, what he was supposed to do with that. If he wanted to keep his image of a person without feelings, he couldn't say that the fact that Raph was always looking after him and his bros made him happy.
But he was smiling softly to himself as he put on his pajamas and closed his eyes to rest for the first time in just too long.
.
Unknown to Donnie and Raph, at the sound of the explosion a certain mutant rat-man woke up and went to see, where the other brothers had already guessed what had happened and had let Raph lecture their genius bro.
Splinter at the sight of the scene and at Raph's dedication to his little brother well-being smiled knowingly to himself and walked away, knowing that the brothers will always be there for each other, and that Red in particular would always watch over them.
.
2- Leo
Hueso, "You know what I'm going to have to do..."
Leo, "Please, don’t!" He said in a plaintive tone without really believing in his own words, he knew the minute the firdt table at Hueso’s establishment was broken that he was screwed.
Hueso, “I'm going to call your dad."
"UURG! Come on!" He couldn't help but growl. "Can't we sort this out nicely? We're friends, aren't we? Ummm?" Suddenly he lifted his head as an idea occurred to him and smiled. "And what if I put that on the line?…" he said as he placed two coupons for a teddy bear in one of Hueso's bony hand.
"Just because you failed to get me to cooperate with one ticket last time doesn't mean that with two it works!" He exclaimed almost offended as he handed the tickets back to him instead of balling them up and throwing them like the first time he tried this. Leo was glad that although the yokai skeleton would never admit it out loud, they had become good friends.
Without doing it on purpose, earlier Leo participated into a battle at his friend's place when a villain mutant that he already fought with his bros in the past (although it was really rare that there was mutants instead of yokai except for them, but here they were) recognized Leo and a fight followed within the establishment. But in his defense, Leo made a heck of a show for every client watching him fight.
The villain ends up fleeing after that the great Leo kicked his butt but the fight had done some property damage and the other mutant was already too far away to ask him to come back and pay for everything he broke.
"So what's your father's number again?" Hueso's voice comes.
Shiiiiiiiit, he couldn't tell his pops that he had accidentally damaged a mystic pizza place! He had nothing against his dad but if he found out about that he wouldn’t ever hear the end of how that was the perfect setting where he could have used bowls instead of his teleporting portal-generating Ōdachi to fight.
“Urrg, what would Lou Jitsu do?" He thought not dor the first time, but it was quite unlikely that Lou Jitsu would ever be in trouble because he damaged a pizza place and his friend/owner was asking him to call for his dad.
So in a slightly less familiar but not unfamiliar way, he thought, "What would Raph do?" Hoping Mind Raph would give him some helpful advice.
Mind Raph materialized in Leo's mind and pointed with a thumbs up to himself while saying, "Just call me!" And he was right! Leo could just call him instead of their dad! It wouldn't be the first time their big brother has taken the role of their father in the immediate absence of their dad, so there was no promblem!
"Oh, my dad's phone number? Here it is." He then dictated the number to Hueso. Leo was glad that Donnie made a phone for each one of them, it was really handy sometimes.
And so, like a student who got into trouble and waiting for their parents to arrive after the teacher called them, he waited in one of the seats that hasn’t been destroyed while trying to make conversation with his skeleton friend.
Finally, a big red turtle appeared at the entrance to the pizzeria through the wall. And Hueso directly noticed the difference between his oldest brother and the rat-man he had heard about. “He's not your father." He said with a certain reproach in his voice as he turned to Leo.
“Dad, Raph, same difference! Besides, he's the oldest of all of us and also the most mature one anyway!"
Hueso sign, decided to roll with it and walked over to Raph, "Well, I guess even if you're not his father you'll do."
"What did he do?" His big brother said as if it was routine for Leo to break stuff and then for Raph to talk their way out of the problem. Which, to be fair, was the case.
After that Hueso explained to him what had happened and why his restaurant was in such bad shape compared to usual, Raph apologized for his little brother and Hueso demanded a repayment. At this Raph seemed taken by surprise, Leo knew it was Donnie who was taking care of the finances in the family, not Raph.
"Um, well," Raphael said very classy, "It's not much but here." He handed him a discount coupon to make a teddy bear with both hands, bending down his spine a little like their father had taught them.
A silence.
At the expression on the skeleton's face of disbelief and like if it was written 'why?' on it, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing (again), Leo could only burst into laughter.
Just the picture was so hilarious for him that he had tears in his eyes and practically rolled on the floor at this point. He couldn't believe his brother had done the exact same thing as he did, but he did got his coupons through his big brother after all.
Raph honestly had a genuine confused expression on his face at Hueso and Leo's reactions.
The skeleton said to Leo a little irritated, "Well, at least now I know who you get from at least..."
At that Raph looked like something clicked and roughly figured out what was going on and looked a little embarrassed. He pushed the coupon into one of the bony hands of the yokai and then took Leo under one of his arms and ran into the mystic portal wall.
The youngest turtle waved goodbye at his friend while still laughing. "Alright, thanks for everything, sorry for the inconvenience, bye!" Added Raph, still running.
Leo had a smile plastered on his face the whole time. He was glad that whatever problem he would fallen into, his oldest brother would always be there to help him out.
The owner barely had time to say "Hey-!" Before Raph and Leo were already gone, leaving him alone, in a damaged restaurant, with now three discount coupons for a teddy bear.
And Leo was right, at least his older brother DID tried to be mature (at least he tried his best). He had rather low exceptions for the father of those brothers agents of chaos.
But surprisingly enough, the red turtle had met them.
Maybe he could get Hueso junior a teddy bear or two on his way home after all.
.
3- Mikey
Mikey 's head popped out from the kitchen, "Hey Raph, can you help me cook something?"
"Of course Mikey ." Raph put his alters down on the floor and walked to the kitchen.
Although Mikey was the best cook in the house with their dad, Raph was the second best brother to cook. Something to do with the fact that he used to make meals for his little brothers when they were little, although there’s not much age difference between them. It was also Raph who had made Mikey interested and taught him the basics of how to cook before Splinter offered him a cookbook.
"What do you need my help with?"
"Oh, well…" Mikey seemed to hesitate and looked at the kitchen utensils scattered around them as if he was looking for something but wasn't sure what. Raph tilted his head on one side in confusion.
"Ah-Ah!" Mikey exclaimed, as he victoriously holds up the big bowl with the kitchen whisk and some eggs in it in the air.
"Can you beat the eggs for me, please?" He then made the best puppy eyes he had, even though, knowing his big brother, he already knew the answer.
"Sure buddy." The red turtle replied, bless his brother for his kindness. He never said no if he could help someone, especially if that 'someone' was one of his little brothers.
"I'm trying to bake a cake by the way!" He said as he got ready to work on the other ingredients.
"Better make a big one then." Raph replied.
"Haha, yeah!" And if Mikey knew his older brother well, he had to make sure that at least half the cake was enough to appease the red turtle’s big appetite. Although he knew Raph meant that they had to make enough for everyone.
So they baked together, Mikey giving him more chores as the cake was being made. Mikey really enjoyed cooking with Raph, he was so happy that he was humming a catchy tune to himself. His brother’s precense was familiar and also nostalgic to him, it reminded him of so much good memories, like that one time when they accidentally set the kitchen on fire... Okay, maybe they had happier cooking memories than that.
Raph had always been there for them, pops had never discouraged him to do so, and Mikey was almost sure that having an eldest son who looked after his little brothers so much was the dream for a lot of parents and siblings. It was almost like Raph was a father figure.
...
.......
Oh mi gosh he was a father figure.
"Hey, Mikey," the red turtle snapped him out of his thoughts, "Why did you ask me for help?" Mikey turned to him with a slightly confused expression, "Why not?"
"I mean, you don’t need my help, I know you're strong enough to whip the eggs yourself and you’re an amazing cook too." Raph was probably referring to all the times where he yeeted things that should clearly not be yeeted, like cargo, trucks and such.
"Oh, well…" It’s always better to tell the truth, he reminded himself of doctor delicate. "Do you remember when you taught me the basics of cooking when we were kids, and we used to cook together? I missed that a bit, so I kind of made an excuse to do that with you again."
" Mikey," Raph put one of his hands on his little brother's head and then pat him gently and always careful to control his strength like he always did. "You don't have to make up any excuse if you just wanna spend time with me you know, you can just ask me." If Mikey had hair, they would probably be messy with all the patting.
Raph was smiling gently at him with a kind expression that judged by others would be odd on a person of this stature and appearance. But for Mikey and the rest of the family, there was nothing more natural.
Yup, definitely a father figure.
.
4- Raph
Mikey, Leo, Donnie and himself were in the living room of the lair, Leo and Mikey were playing a video game while Raph was in the armchair right behind them and watched the game playing between them, Donnie was in the other armchair at his right, eyes fixed on his phone.
Then a sudden revelation came to him.
"Guys?..."
His brothers looked back at him, curious. Mikey paused the game they were playing and Donnie stopped tapping on his phone to listen to him.
“Am I like, a dad to you or what?"
Without even considering for a second, Mikey replied with a smile “Kinda!"
Leo, “Pretty much."
Donnie, “Yeah."
Raph looked at them like they've grown a second head. “What?? He could only respond, confused by their replies and even more confused by the fact that it sounded so obvious to them.
“I thought you knew." Leo replied at the extreme confusion that was on his oldest brother’s face.
"I didn’t!" He answered immediately. "What about dad then?"
"I’m pretty sure he knows." Mikey answered this time, his smile still on his face.
“I do know!" As to prove his point, a vague voice came from somewhere further into the lair.
“DAAAAD?!" The exclamation of disbelief came as Raph was now kneeling on the armchair and was facing around where Spliter's voice came from.
Donnie seemed to find the whole exchange funny since he had a amused look on his face, barely hidden by his now forgotten phone as Raph looked at him desperately for answers to the news he was apparently the only one who didn’t know.
Leo and Mikey seemed to also enjoy the show if he could tell by how they were trying to hold back their laughs. He appreciated the effort though. But he still needed answers.
"What do you mean by 'he knows' Mikey?! Wait." Raph turned in his chair again, facing where his dad in an other room was. “DAD! Do I behave like a dad sometimes?" He called.
A distant voice replied for the second time, "You sure do, son!"
Raph, “WHAAAT?!"
Leo burst out laughing, Mikey as well but less loudly while Donnie was still holding back.
Raph spoke again, much quieter than earlier, "But, isn't it... Weird?"
At the doubt in the voice of the red turtle, Leo decided to reassure him by smiling and putting his arm around the shoulders of his big brother," Of course it’s not bro, what would we be without your parental instinct anyway?" But Raph still didn't look completely convinced as he slid his gaze to Leo to the floor.
Suddenly a paternal hand rested on Raph's shoulder, he turned his head to see Splinter who had probably come to see what was happening, patting him on the shoulder. "Raphael, know that I could never dream of having a better son who cares for his brothers as much as you do. I’m so proud of you."
At the end of this sentence Raph had tears in his eyes and before anyone could add anything else, the red turtle hugged them all in his arms in one big hug as he was smiling one ear to another, as the others were reacting to being lifted by Raph, and gave his family a very light squeeze, still aware of his own strength.
“I love you so much guys!" Raph said in a tone that couldn't be more sincere.
This was followed by “Same here, red” and several variations of “Love you too, bro!" at the same time from his father and his baby brothers. While the four of them were held by one man in a big family hug. Too bad April, (aka their adopted sister) wasn't there but Raph made a mental note to tell her how much she meant to them and give her a hug as soon as she was back into the lair.
Raph couldn't imagine having a better family than the one he already had.
.
Some hours later, Raph could be find hugging a very confused April O'Neil as he had a big smile on his face as the other brothers watched a little amused but also were smiling kindly and had sweet gazes on their faces as well.
“What happened here??" She asked genuinely confused while still being hugged by Raph.
Donnie, "Oh nothing, just Raph embracing his inner-dad."
April, "..."
April, "Excuse me, WHAT?!"

From Different Dimension Ch9
And this, darlings, is the last chapter! This had almost completely different ending and all (at least about Shredder) but this was so much more better, ahahah! When I started to write it all just came out on it's own so I take it as a sign it came from my own vortex and then you don't try to stop or correct it, etc. xD I want to thank you all who has read this fic, fave / like and comment it and sorry it took so long for me to finish this. I planned this fic to be longer but... something just happened and I lost inspiration and ideas but I'm glad this last chapter came out nicely. *********
*This fic will be about 2014 turtles with the hints of 2016 turtles. -- For weeks and months we took turns to teach little Leo read, write and count and much for all of our surprise little Leo was doing amazingly well. He was fast to learn like big bro Leo. Another thing what warmed all of us was the fact little Leo had started to spend more time with Splinter – in the dojo as well. One day Splinter invited us to watch their training and my heart swell with joy and pride as I saw Leo doing basic katas. So he had found martial arts to be interesting even a little bit! At least as a small self defensive if nothing else since I knew he hated violence. After little show Splinter smiled as he bend down and whispered something in little Leo’s ear, his eyes turning big and bright. He ran past us while Splinter ordered us in the living room and sit. We waited Leo to arrive and take his place with play piano. Glancing once at Splinter’s direction he received a nod, nodding once back. Sitting down on the floor piano in front of him, he took deep inhale turning power on. He looked nervous. Small fingers took their place on piano’s keys, firmly with confidence starting to press them all in order, playing beautiful music to us. So this was that secret little thing what Splinter had been teaching him in his room all these months! From the corner of my eye I saw a shadow spreading on the floor as April appeared in the lair, stopping in her spot, not wanting to disturb little player. When music finally faded away we all cheered and clapped for little embarrassed and blushing turtle who couldn’t hide his happy smile. Mikey was the first who went to pet his little head, praising him from Earth to Heaven, April soon following his lead. “Oh my gosh, Leo, that was beautiful! How did you learn to play piano?” Shyly he lifted his hand and pointed at Master with small smile on his face. April couldn’t help but to smile warmly at our master. “I have to admit, Splinter, I’m surprised you had such gift yourself. Never knew you could play piano.” “I didn’t. I had to teach myself first before I could teach little Leo.” Walking behind small turtle Splinter placed his hand on Leo’s head, petting it. “I’m most happy and proud I could teach myself and then teach him. He will become great pianist some day.” Watching father smiling all warmly down at little Leo, who smiled back at him, was wonderful. It was like if one of our biggest goals with Leo had been achieved. “So what brings you here?” Hearing Leonardo’s voice made me remember we indeed had visitor so I too, with curiosity, turned my eyes on April. Standing now side by side with Mikey April looked at us. “I have some news for you guys.”
“You have found someone and are getting married? You are pregnant? Are you moving away from NY?!” I found it hilarious how red faced April lifted her hands in front of her, swinging them furiously. “No, no, no, no and NO! For God’s sake, Mikey, NO!” “Then what is it?” Typical Leonardo. Standing there all tall and firmly, arms crossed on his chest as his strict eyes kept staying on human, his expression tight and unreadable. April sighed as she took a piece of paper out of her pocket, handling it to Don. “I received a message about unnatural signals outside of the city. Some police troops have been sent there to investigate it but they have… vanish or found dead. I’m heading there myself but I wanted to come to ask would you care to join me?” I snorted amused. “Too scared to go there by yourself, oh fearless news reporter?” “It’s not that, Raphael. It just… I have a feeling this might be Shredder’s doing and you guys know him better than I do.” “It indeed does sounds like Shredder’s doing. Donnie, get everything what you think we need and let’s get ready. April, you stay here with Splinter and little Leo. Raph and Mikey, get weapons.” “Yes, sir!” Mikey ran away like eager little boy who he still was inside. After I made my way to weapon wall, putting my sais in my belt, I felt slight pluck. Little Leo looked up at me worried so I smiled at him, tapping his head gently. “Don’t worry, little guy, I’ll be back soon. We just go investigate, nothing more.” He hugged my leg long and tight, slightly refusing to let go of me so I had to ask Splinter’s help. Father was so calm and caring, like always, and he managed to make Leo let go of me. Promising once more I would come back I ran in garage where bros were waiting for me already. Jumping in our garbage truck Don hit it and soon our safe home was left behind. – Parking our truck in shadows of trees we made our way out as quiet and fast as we could, weapons ready. Leaning us more closer Leonardo turned to look at us, giving us hand signals we should spread but stay eye sight away from each other and stay silent. We did as we were ordered and soon enough we came close to this square where Shredder were with few Foot ninjas and he also had weird portal device with him. Bending down behind the bushes we observed and listened. “Hurry, you fools! Krang won’t like waiting. We need to open the portal as soon as possible and let him come here. With him I can get so much power that none, especially those damn turtles, won’t stop me!” I turned to look our leader who seemed not pleased at all, his mind creating a plan for us immediately. Giving us a sign to join him we all crawled silently around our bro who gave us orders with silent whispers. “Here’s the plan since we are not completely sure what’s going on. Raph, you take on 6 ninjas from the left. Mikey, I will leave rest 6 ones to you. If you need help, which I doubt, Raph will aid you. I will take the Shredder. Don, your job is to take the portal and then we leave. Everyone in the truck as fast as possible after Don’s ready. Understood?” “Awh, come on! Can’t we just have more fun with them?” “No. We have no idea who this Krang is, how strong he is, what he’s going to bring here via portal with himself and so on. Better be safe than sorry. We will come for them later if needed. Now let’s go.” And so we went and our ambush was success. Shredder had no idea what hit them as we attacked on them from the shadows, taking our targets. During the fight I kept taking look from the corner of my eye how my bros were doing and they seemed to be doing fine. Hearing Don’s voice and then Leo’s we all retreaded as fast into the shadows as we could, driving away and leaving screaming Shredder behind. Back at home Don took this small round shaped portal into his lab and we gave him space and time to work on it. Leonardo, as usual, gave report to Splinter, Mikey focused on eating, April was chatting with Splinter and Leo while I was with little Leo. He was sitting in my lap on the floor coloring pictured from his new coloring book what April had brought him. After hours and hours Donatello finally came to us pushing his glasses back on his nose better. “What have you found, my son?” Waiting patiently Splinter eyed our brother who finally told us what he knew. “I found out Krang is alien brain so to say. A rare life form from different dimension so to say. Somehow he has found Earth and managed to contact Shredder, manipulating him to build that teleport so that he could arrive on Earth. Most surely to conquer it since what else bad guys do?” Chuckling a bit to himself Don got serious again and continued. “I studied Shredder’s teleport and I have to say; It was horribly done even that it would had work. Just amateur work! It was painful to watch it! And for a some reason either Shredder or one of his scientists had add memory card in the portal and saved all files about Krang in there. What amateurs! I got all the info from it!” “So if we have teleport Shredder won’t be able to summon this Krang here on Earth?” Leonardo said rather to himself out loud. “Correct but there’s a chance Shredder can build new one if he have blueprints.” “So this means we need to go beat his ass and destroy his place? “Raphael.” “Sorry, Sensei.” “It seems so.” Surprised by Leonardo’s reply I watched him standing up, looking each of us. “Get ready. We go there as soon as we can. We won’t give Shredder time to build new portal.” “Ahaha oh yeah! Right on!” Me and Mikey seemed to be the only excited ones while Splinter shook his head. After gearing up once more we were on the move. – We crashed into Shredder’s lab through the doors where we found him and his scientists building already a new portal. “Stop right there, Shredder!” “Why should I, turtles? You stole my first portal.” “We won’t let you bring Krang here to hurt people and Earth with him.” “You turtles are fools indeed. I wasn’t going to share Earth with him. I already had this plan in my mind before you crawlers appeared.” “And that was?” Turning to look Mikey Shredder sighed deeply in annoyance. “I was going to lure him on Earth, make you turtles kill him for me and steal his technology so that I could travel in space and conquer planets and dimensions!” “And you tell us this because…?” “It’s my farewell gift to you since you won’t leave here alive. Foot ninjas, attack!” Suddenly we were surrounded and fight was on. I admit there were many of them but while we kept most of them busy, Leonardo went after Shredder as Don went to destroy blueprints and everything about the portal, including the beginning of new portal. I watched Mikey’s back as few scientists ran past us out of the room but I couldn’t blame them. They most surely were forced to work for Shredder so I had no any intentions to go after them and kill them. Standing on top of Foot ninja pile Mikey laughed as we gave high tree to each other, looking at Leo’s direction. He was doing fine, like always and expected, but we wanted to have a piece of Shredder as well. Appearing right next to our big bro we gave him time to take a breath. Loud crack and buzz sounds came behind Shredder with sparks as Don were happily smashing computers into pieces. Usually he never had a heart do such cruel thing to computers, which all were his babies, but this time he seemed to enjoy it. Let him have his fun. Mikey and I attacked on Shredder as Leo stood behind catching his breath but joined us soon. I must hand it to Shredder – fighting against all tree of us was impressive. Sensei hadn’t warn us about him for nothing. There were tight situations in turns but together we made it every time, almost every time. Shredder, as a bad guy, didn’t play fair. All of the sudden something was sprayed in our eyes and we all screamed holding them. It stung and burned so much and we heard Shredder laughing hard. “M-MY EYES! MY BEAUTIFUL EYES!!” “Focus, my brothers, focus! Losing one ability won’t stop us! Use your other senses!” Standing still weapons at hands we stood still despite the burning pain in our eyes while listening the sound of metal when Shredder walked towards us. Luckily he wore such armor which made so loud noise so we could hear him well. Suddenly there was sound of some sort of splash and Don’s scream soon followed it. “Guys, get back!” We automatically jumped as far away as we dared and Shredder’s painful scream, with the smell of burning flesh, echoed in the room with loud buzz and crack sounds. When it finally turned quiet, smoke and horrible smell still lingering in the air, Don came to gather us in one spot, wiping out eyes with water. “What the shell?” “Pepper spray. Dirty move from Shredder but in fights bad guys always use low tricks.” Finally, and slowly, getting our eyes open everything was blurry and tears kept leaking out of our eyes as they tried to clean themselves. Damn, this sucked! “The Shredder?” Leonardo asked keeping his hand on Don’s shoulder. “No worried. He’s melted so to say.” Don chuckled but calmed down and gave a proper answer. “After smashing computers I saw water bottles on the table. Workers drinks for sure, and sparkling electricity wire on the floor and then the idea hit me. Why fight when we could fry Shredder? I know it’s horrible but hey, everything’s allowed in a fight.” “… You know that has been dirty move, Donnie. No honor in there.” Looking down Don felt Leo’s gaze staying on him. “I know but it was the only thing what I could think of in that situation. I needed to save you guys.” Small smile spread on my big brother’s face as he tapped Donatello’s shoulder. “You did the right thing. Don’t worry about it. Despite the fact I like to fight with honor, sometimes some situations demands actions what are not so honorable but still will save your family. Good job, Don. Good job, everyone. I suggest we leave now. Our work here is done.” And we all agreed. I didn’t want to admit it but I was quite exhausted after the fight… Mikey even more tho. He whined and complained so I got him on my shell and carried him down to our truck. Back at home we told what had happened and Splinter seemed so relieved, April and little Leo cheering for us. – Few months later it was finally Christmas and I gotta admit it, our life had become so much more relaxed and easier now that Shredder was out of the picture. And this – this was our very first Christmas without worry or stress about him. We had a good time together with April with us but our main focus was little Leo who never hadn’t experienced Christmas. At first he was confused when he got so many gifts, unsure to open them but with little encouragement he started to open them, his eyes growing and glowing more and more with each gift. He got gifts what Leonardo had got him with April’s help all those months ago, including small bear plush from toy store which Leonardo had mentioned to me in the past. There were some warm clothes what April had got, more toys, color books, candies which seemed to be huge and exciting mystery to little turtle. But all in all he was happy and so were we. Life was good, just the way how I liked it. 5 years passed in peace and little Leo had grow a lot. He had gain some muscles but was still kind of thin compared to us. Master Splinter had kept training him until his age had stepped in a way, leaving little Leo’s training to our leader, Leonardo. Of course we couldn’t call little Leo as ‘little’ anymore so we just called him L. Our day had been normal with our routines when suddenly something shined from Don’s lab and we all rushed there to see what was going on. Donatello went at the back of his lab and soon came in living room portal in his hands. What Don had learned about it in the past it could change its size smaller or bigger. It had stayed small and nonactive all these years so why it now, all of the sudden, activated on its own!? We all stepped back as Don threw it away out of his hands, portal mysteriously standing tall on its spot getting wider and rounder. Finally it stopped and we waited weapons ready to see what it would show but much for our surprise it showed sunny summer sky with sun and blue sky. It was weird and seemed harmless but we stayed ready for anything as Leonardo ordered us with hand signs. Soon we heard something moving, silent whispers and it shocked us when 3 turtles started us back with older rat. I-it couldn’t be! Shock in their faces reflected the same shock what we were feeling. Stepping forward Leonardo put his swords away and bowed deeply. It felt a bit awkward but he stood tall and introduced himself. “I’m Leonardo Hamato. Clan leader of Hamato clan in New York city. May I ask who you are? So far what we know we should be the only mutant turtles.” Second Splinter stepped forward and he had very similar energy to our Master, but this Splinter was younger than our father. He too bowed and introduced himself. “Forgive us for all the trouble what we might have cause with this sudden action. My sons and I were out of enjoying lovely summer day at the lake when we found this old device in the dirt. My son, Raphael, touched it and it activated. Somehow it created connection between our worlds.” “Fascinating… So there’s another world where… we exist as well.” Donatello murmured louder to himself, younger Don nodding eagerly on the other side. I listened the chat what seemed to become more easy and friendly while eyeing younger versions of us but something bothered me. “Where’s Leonardo of yours?” All they suddenly froze and turned to look their master in sadness. There also was great sadness in other Splinter’s eyes. I instantly regretted asking that stupid question. “With all respect, Splinter, tell us since I too am curious to know this.” Leonardo said as we all agreed with him with nods. Sighing deeply he started talking. “We just didn’t came to enjoy beautiful summer day at the lake. We came to visit my oldest son’s grave as well which lies near the lake under a wild cherry tree… It was his favorite tree...” Sighing one more Splinter lowered his ears and head. “He died today 5 years ago.” It turned all silent since none of us really didn’t know what to say until L came in front of the portal, smiling at his other brothers. Seeing our younger versions wide and surprised expressions with Splinter’s surprised eyes, he turned to look at us, pointing slowly at himself and then them. Splinter moved his ears a bit as he made his way to L, placing his hand on young man’s shoulder who was now taller than he was. “So you wish to go there to live with them? Be their Leonardo?” I should have felt happy, I guess, but seeing Leonardo smiling and nodding once in firm way… It broke my heart into pieces, sinking all the remains into my toes. My father turned to look at us and I noticed he noticed my teary eyes even that I fought against those little bastards. “Are you all alright with it if our little Leonardo, who’s grown up now, will go live with another turtle family? That is if you all accept Leonardo in your family.” Other Splinter nodded. “Of course we will. It would be a great honor.” Mikey was crying already but he nodded wiping his eyes. “Yeah. S-sure. I just… I hate saying goodbye. It has been so much fun to have you here, L.” Seeing slightly moist but happy eyes staying on Mikey, closing only for the moment of hug what he received from my little brother. Don sniffed a bit but he too hugged our little guy wishing him all the luck. Leonardo was more formal, like always, bowing deep sharing warm smile to his younger self. “You have grown up to be a fine turtle, L. It was an honor to know you and have you with us. Know that you always have home and a family here for you if you need us. We will miss you greatly.” Taking one bigger step forward Leonardo sealed L in his arms, hugging him ever so firmly and gently. Splinter was next as he too hugged his fifth son, leaving his arms rest on those shoulders. “Never forget who you are. Never forget what we have taught to you and just like Leonardo said, you always have home here with us and we are always here if you need us. It was great pleasure to meet you and raise you, my son. Be strong and honorable in your new world and home.” L smiled lovingly nodding slowly once, hugging Splinter once more. It was painful and beautiful at the same time. His own Splinter had been a total evil and my father had been totally wonderful and loving father who had have big influence in L’s life. My father had managed to show him love, support and guidance what L never hadn’t had before. Finally those blue eyes turned on me and I couldn’t handle it. Not the way how those eyes looked at me. They were full of gratitude, love and sorrow. With shaky feet I walked to him and knelt down, looking up in those bright blue eyes. “I… should be happy since a whole new world and life is ahead of you with your new family… But I’m not.” This seemed to shock and surprise him and my brothers. Pulling L in my arms I hid my face against his shoulder. “I don’t want you to go. I want you to stay. I… I raised you like my own son and letting you go… It hurts and scares me. I no longer wouldn’t be there for you. Protect you. Watch your back. I would lose you for good if I let you go through that portal. I love you too much to let you go.” L rubbed his cheek gently against mine, petting the backside of my head and neck. His hands were small and gentle, moves full of care and comfort. He was comforting me. I knew, somehow, deep inside he was feeling sad and bad too for leaving but he was excited and wanted to go to his new family. Feeling hand on my shoulder I knew it was Leonardo. He spoke with such gentleness. “This is painful and hard for all of us since we all love him dearly, Raphael. But this is his decision and he’s old enough to make them. We may never see him again, true, but we have give him good training and base for life.” I felt his gaze moving from me on L’s eyes. “I’m sure he will do just fine.” Feeling Leo’s eyes turning back on me, he continued once more. “So let go. He will be safe and sound with his family.” Sniffing loud I kept my face hidden even that I felt hands on my cheeks, wiping rolling tears away. “Is… Is your world safe to live in?” I didn’t dare to look but I heard Splinter’s voice behind the portal. “Oh yes, most safe. This planet has hold humans and mutants on herself for thousands of years, they all living in perfect harmony with each other and it has keep on going all the way to this day.” “Then, may I ask, how your Leonardo died?” Donatello needed to know. “Illness. Something what we didn’t had a cure back then but since then scientists from mankind and mutants have work together and they managed to create medicine to it. Sadly it came too late to save my son.” “I see.” Feeling once more all of their gazes on me I lifted my head just a bit to see L’s face right in front of mine. His eyes were moist, few tears had escaped on his cheeks but he was smiling. Pressing his forehead against mine I closed my eyes once more just holding him there, memorizing everything about his as good as I could. I would never want to forget him even that we had photos about him. Mikey came next to us and handed one photo to L who took it inside of his belt. Turning to look at me once more and making sure he had my attention, he moved his lips. “I will be okay.” I could read his lips loud and clear and I knew he would be okay but losing him for good… I stood up wiping my eyes keeping them locked with L’s as he too stood up. Reaching for my sai I pulled it out of my belt, flipped it around and handed it to confused L who took it. “My gift to you. Keep it with you, always. Never lose it or go anywhere without it. I hope it will help you to remember me.” Lifting sai in front of his face L pressed gently kiss on it, placing it on his own belt looking at me happily. I knew he would treasure my sai. Turning around he gave a hand sign to other turtles behind portal to wait and he ran to his own corner starting to dig stuff. “I have been wanting to ask, fellow turtles, why does he not talk?” We all stayed quiet as we allowed our father to reply. “He had an accident when he was a child and he lost his voice because of it.” It seemed Splinter didn’t think it was important for them to knew about L’s past. He could ‘tell’ about it to them himself if he so wanted. Hearing steps made our heads turn as L walked to us, his arms full of stuff. Stopping in front Mikey L gave him some drawings what they had done together and few arts what L had done about Mikey when he had been younger. Then he turned towards Leonardo handling him his own favorite book. Taking it with smile Leonardo bowed with L at the same time, thanking for the gift. Don got some of L’s toys and things what they had build together while Splinter got some poets what L had written after learning to write. When it was my turn he hesitated but reached to give me his most precious item – his diary. “N-no, L. I can’t take this. You should keep it yourself.” But he smiled while shaking his head. Pulling another diary out of his bag what he had on his back he wrote on one page. “I have a ‘copy’ of it.” and pointed current diary in his hands. In this moment it seemed like… if he had known he would leave us one day. Sighing deeply I pressed his diary hard against my chest, forcing a smile on my face. “I will treasure this. It will be my most beloved item.” “L, it’s time. Portal is showing signs it won’t stay open too long anymore.” Don’s words squeezed my throat so I pulled L in one last hug, kissed his head and whispered; “I love you. I always have loved you and always will, no matter how far apart we are. Never forget that. You are always my little treasure.” Feeling a kiss on my forehead made tears trying to escape my eyes once more but I held them back pulling away sniffing. L gave one fast last hugs to everyone turning to face the portal. Slowly he reached for it with his hand, then feet and then portal just sucked him in. It felt like eternity but took only a few seconds before he appeared on another side of the portal where his new brothers greeted him with laughs and welcome wished, instantly hugging him. It seemed like if he had belong there all along, went missing and was now reunited with his real family. Portal started to close as we all, and they too, wished farewells with promises to keep L safe. I suddenly took fast steps forward reaching for L. “Leonardo!” His eyes locked with mine and his eyes shined full of love as he placed his fingers on his lips and turned them towards me; “I love you.” “Le--!” And the portal shut down. I froze on my place as reality hit me, filling me with coldness. Little Leo… My little Leo was now forever gone. Feeling my body starting to shake I felt warm hand on my shoulder and I met blue gentle eyes. “I can see how hard this is for you, but we did the right choice. He was happy with us but I believe he’s even more happy there with them. He is their new Leonardo. He’s now giving them something and someone who they have been missing for 5 years. Their family is now whole, just like ours.” “Raphael, we all loved him deeply and will always love. Saying goodbyes is never easy but in the name of love we must learn to let go of those who we love the most in order to bring them happiness. We can’t own another person and make them live their life in a way how we want them to.” “I know, Master, I know. I just… feel like I lost a piece of myself.” “We all feel like that, dude. It’s normal, but hey – we still have each other like L now have too.” Pulling all of us in a group hug Mikey was right. I knew with time I would get over this, sooner or later, but I would get over this. Later in the same night I laid on L’s bed reading his diary having his teddy in my armpit. Seeing a figure approach me from the corner of my eye made me close the diary since it was only for my eyes. Leonardo stopped next to bed and sat down looking at me. “How are you doing?” “A bit better.” Small smile appeared on his lips as he sighed silently, slow and deep. “I’m revealed to hear that. Raphael… I just wanted to let you know that… I’m here for you. I’m always here for you. No matter what. You are my brother and I love you dearly. Never hesitate to come to me if you need anything.” Leonardo’s words hit me hard and I appreciated it what he said and I knew he meant it. Putting diary away I sighed and laid on my back still, staring at the ceiling before turning my head a bit, meeting waiting eyes. “Could you… stay with me tonight? I feel I can’t sleep alone.” “Of course.” Moving a bit I made some room for Leonardo to lay on his side in my armpit, holding him close. “Leonardo… Thank you.” Closing his eyes smile remained on my brother’s lips. “You’re welcome, Raphael. This is only one of my jobs as a big brother.” Hugging him tight I rubbed my cheek against the top of his head. “And you are doing a damn good job with it.” Chuckling Leonardo pressed more closer and soon yawned. He wished me good night and I returned his wishes, staying awake a while. I still worried and felt sad about L but at the same time I felt happy and warm for having another Leo, my own Leo, in my arms. I knew my Leo was capable of surviving anything and this brought faith on L surviving anything as well, no matter what. Eyelids of mine finally started to close and soon I was sleeping peacefully. – *5 years later in another dimensions* He stood all tall on top of the building watching sunrise as colors of the night faded away, bright red, orange and yellow sneaking more higher up on the sky behind horizon, sky slowly turning from dark to light and bright blue. Wind blew gently past him, playing with the tails of his blue bandanna. His blue eyes calmly scanned awaking city and nature as his brothers landed behind him. “Come now, Leo, or we will be late from breakfast and Splinter will eat everything on his own!” Raphael playfully slapped Leo’s arm with a playful smirk, challenging his brother into a race. Smiling and shaking his head Leonardo turned to take one more look at the beautiful colors on the sky, deep inhale filling his lungs with fresh morning air. His mind wondered back to his other turtle family, wondering what they were doing and wishing they were well. “Come on, Leo, hurry up!” Now his other brothers finally got his attention and smiling he rushed after them, jumping from roof to roof chasing them. There were times when he missed his old family but he loved his new family and life in this calm and beautiful world and city. Raphael’s sai swung on his belt with the movements of his body and it had stayed there with him, and always would, just like he had promised. The end

Chapter #37
*Sunday June 7th, 2015. 11:00a.m. in the plane. Location: somewhere over the Caribbean Sea, just crossing over the border over top of Venezuela.
Sam and Leo had begun watching Space Heroes around 9a.m.and by 9:30a.m. the rest of the brothers had woken up as well. The group turned to Sam, knowing that she would be the one to have snacks either because she packed them herself, or because Mikey had snuck them into her bag. After they had all eaten some, they went back to just relaxing on the plane as they waited for their time to arrive in Brazil. It was now about 11a.m. Everyone had remained calm during the nighttime because the air had been nice and cool…but now that it was the middle of the day, the hot and humid air was kicking in, and everyone felt miserable. Mikey was slouched against the right wall of the inside of the cargo space of the plane. Raph was sitting not far off from Mikey’s spot as he threw a small red ball as it bounced off the floor and then off the box in front of him. He needed to move in some way or else he would lose his shit. Leo was attempting to keep calm as he sat even further across the right wall. Donnie was sitting on the opposite side of the plane looking at one of his many tablets (which he gave Sam a huge thanks for charging them once he officially woke up). And then there was Sam herself, who was setting her gear up and attaching and tightening her nylon webbing chest harness on her body (and setting up some other materials now that they were a couple hours away from reaching their destination. You never know what random situation might come up, so one always needed to be prepared).
“Ughhhh” Mikey groaned as he fanned himself, “aren’t there supposed to be like, pretty stewardesses handing out warm hand towels and stuff?” Raph sighed as he tried to remain calm, knowing that getting worked up would just make him sweat and overheat even more. “Not down here Mikey, not for us.” Raph then looked over towards Sam who was standing in the middle of the space between himself and Leo. At the moment she was pulling her hair back and tightening it as much as she could. Raph smirked. “Sam’s the closest thing we’re gonna get” he said with an expression that made it known he wanted her to hear him. Sam froze for a second after hearing her name and then processing how it was used. Once what she thought was the message had been received, she turned towards Raph with a cocky smile. “DAMN. STRAIGHT!” she said pointing at him, “I’m the best at the best at being prepared for anything!” Leo covered his mouth, trying to hide his laughter at Sam unintentionally admitting that she was like a stewardess or like a maid. Obviously she had heard Raph wrong or missed part of what he said. Even Mikey shot Sam a weird look, confused at her response. Raph just smiled and shook his head. “Alright stewardess, throw me a towel.” Sam was taken aback. “I’m sorry, I’m what now?” Leo started laughing a bit louder. “Hey, you’re the one that admitted to it, now fork a towel over” Raph said playfully. Sam paused, now finally realizing that Raph hadn’t teased her about always being prepared, but obviously had actually said she was like a maid and she admitted to it. Sam pouted. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” she said as she crossed her arms and looked the other way. Raph just rolled his eyes. “Oh please. Everyone here knows that you have at least one small towel so that if someone starts bleeding you can stop it” he said matter of factly, crossing his arms over his chest. Sam turned her head some and peeked through one eye at him. “Ugh, fine. But I’m not your stewardess though!” she said as she launched a small cloth at him. “Heyyyy” Mikey pouted. “I only have two, so you have to share” Sam said with a serious expression as she pointed back and forth between Mikey and Raph. She then turned around and tossed the other small cloth to Leo. “You share with Bill Nye over there, got it?” she said as she shot him the same expression she made towards the other two. Leo smiled and nodded as he wiped off his face, blessed to finally get some of this warm sweat off his body. Even he was having difficulty just sitting here in the scorching humid air.
The room lit up some as the screen from Donnie’s tablet now projected in the air right in front of his face. Donnie then stood up, a worried expression taking over his face. “Oh boy. Bebop and Rocksteady are already in-route back to New York.” “What?!” Leo said as he stood up and rushed over to his brother’s side. Raph also stood up. He gritted his teeth, acknowledging that the fight was about to start earlier than expected. Mikey continued to hang back some, knowing there was nothing he could do. He looked at Sam who was now standing next to him. He assumed that she would want in on the action, yet she continued to hang back with him. He gently threw his arm around the girls shoulder as a way to let her know he appreciated her actions, and she then smiled as she was physically informed that he received the message. They both returned to their serious expressions once they heard Don’s voice. “They must have retrieved the last piece they needed to open the portal” he said as he continued to press different images on the projected screen and analyze the information they provided. “What game is he playing?” Mikey whispered to Sam, curious about the image of the two planes that looked like they were about to hit each other. “It’s not a game. He’s playing around with the coordinates, seeing where our route intertwines wither theirs” she whispered in reply. Donatello then snapped his finger, pointed in Sam’s direction, and then gave her a thumbs up, all the while never looking away from the images in front of him. Leo continued to look over the screen as he stood next to Donnie. “It looks like our plane is about to cross right over theirs. Right?” Leo asked. “Yeah, with about a 3,000 foot separation” Donnie replied. Raph was now looking over Leo’s shoulder, watching Donnie type away at the floating images. Even Mikey had grown interested and had moved closer, though this was more so because he was distracted by the floating images. “So what’s the plan D? If they retrieved the piece then we need to get to them now” Sam remarked. “Uhhhh, I can plot a course for intercept, but we’d have to jump” Donnie replied. All Raph heard was one word which switched his gritted teeth expression to a worried eyes wide open expression. “Jump?” “Jump. J-U-M-P. To push oneself off a surface and into the air by using the muscles in one’s legs and feet. Synonyms include-” “Sam I’m about to rip your freaking face off” Raph snarled. Sam’s eyes went wide as she threw her hands up in defense. “My bad” she said, though she was trying her hardest not to smile while doing so. She was expecting some type of sarcastic remark, but definitely not such a defensive one from the rough and tough Raphael. Mikey was nodding his head in excitement. “Man this is gonna be sweeeeeet!” he said as he ran over and high fived Sam. “Uhhhhhhh” Raph droned, not knowing what to think. Donnie picked up on this immediately. He pat his older brother on the shoulder and shot him a smile. “Raph, it’s the only way to catch them. You got this, okay?” Raph pursed his lips and nodded. Knowing that he didn’t have much of a choice, he tried his hardest just to suck it up and get this over with.
As quickly as he could, Donnie explained the plan to the rest of the group. He would use his grappling gun with the metal bridge to secure him to the plane using the suction cups on the metal bridge device. He then instructed his siblings on how to wear the nylon webbing waist harnesses which was basically a belt (Sam wore a chest harness instead just because the guys wanted to be extra cautious with her) and that once they reached the plane they would then snap the snap hooks on their belts to the metal base attached to the plane. They all made sure their harnesses, their thick lanyard cables (the material between the snap hook and the metal base) and their snap hooks were prepared and being worn correctly. Donnie then made sure Sam had an ear piece set up so that he could communicate with her while they were both in the air. He then made sure her pack was secured as tightly to her as it possibly could be, that her harness was tightened and worn correctly, that her ear piece was in right, and even that her hair was secured tightly enough that it wouldn’t interfere with her vision. It literally looked like an adult securing a child in for an amusement park ride. “Ughhhh Donnie I’m fineeeaaa” Sam groaned, tilting her head and body back slightly to show how annoyed she was. Donnie sighed. “Just be careful, okay? I’ve been keeping records of the results from all the times we’ve tested your powers, but this is something we’ve never tested before. Please, just be as safe as you possibly can be” he said, resting his hand on her shoulder. Of course, Sam was a little shit, and in situations like this she could only respond to show she understood in the only way she knew how: pure sarcasm. “No” she said shaking her head, “I’m just gonna jump out of that plane and free fall. Safety is not a word in my vocabulary” she said with a kindhearted smile. To a normal person, this would be seen as extremely rude. However, Donnie knew Sam well enough to know that this was her way of saying she understood what he was asking and would do everything she could to keep herself out of harm’s way. He gently lifted his hand to the side of her head and then, without being too rough, pushed her head to the side and down some. “Idiot” he said with a grin.
Raph and Mikey had been standing next to Leo who was holding Donnie’s device from before. “Donnie, it’s almost time” Leo called. Donnie nodded as he walked over and collected the device. He made sure all his materials were ready before walking over to the door. His brothers and Sam walked right behind him. The door opened. From left to right stood Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, Sam, and then Michelangelo. Huge gusts of wind blew into the back of the plane as soon as the door made even the slightest crack and began to open. Raph’s instant reaction was to throw his left arm up and gently push Sam back some so that she was as far away from the opening as possible, to which her face scrunched up in confusion from the unexpected protection. Donnie instantly started looking down as he tried to locate the plane that should soon be appearing in sight. Leo just looked out into the open space and gritted his teeth. He didn’t mind being up high, but being up THIS HIGH was nothing he had ever experienced before. This was definitely different from the building heights he was used to. He kept turning his head to check on his younger brother who made it clear he was not enjoying this portion of their mission. “Uhhhh guys, I don’t think this is such a good idea!” Raph announced. Sam was still shocked. “And I thought I had a fear of heights” she thought to herself. Normally she would react the same way, but ever since she gained her new abilities, heights did not scare her anywhere near as much as they used to. Plus, she had a target, so it wasn’t like she was actually free falling. Sam looked to her left and began to smile at Mikey who had a huge smile on his face as he leaned onto the edge of the door way so that he could get a better look at the sights below. Sam found it interesting how Mikey seemed to think this was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, while Raph seemed to think this was the most terrifying thing her had ever seen. Mikey heard his brother’s worried statement. He then turned and patted his brother on the shoulder (though it made Raph shudder because e of how nervous he was). This shudder allowed for Sam to slip under the large turtles arm so that she could also take a step closer and get a better look at the view. For once in her life she could actually enjoy a view like this without panicking like her life was about to end. “Aww come on Raph!” Mikey exclaimed, “this is gonna be fun!” he said as he more playfully slapped his brothers shoulder, again, making Raph shudder. Leo then turned to smile at his younger brother. “Come on, you’ve faced tougher things than this” he encouraged, throwing an arm around Raph’s shoulder. “Like?” Raph growled, though he’d be a liar if he said he didn’t feel more comfortable with his brother’s arm around him. It was like it was an anchor keeping him grounded. “Likeeeeee when we almost came crashing down from that tower” Leo replied. “What?!” Sam shouted, turning around in excited shock. “Where was I when that happened?!” Leo shook his head and smiled. “Didn’t know you yet.” “Awwww man you missed it! Raph cried and everything!” Mikey announced. “WHAT?!” Sam shouted. “I MISSED THAT TOO?!” “MIKEY!” Raph bellowed, aiming to punch his brother in the shoulder.
What these four didn’t realize was that this whole time Donnie had crouched down and used his goggles to zoom in and pin point the location of the oncoming plane. He stood up and turned to face his brothers, realizing that literally now was when they needed to jump. “We gotta go now-” Donnie started, only to be cut off as his other three brothers nodded and turned around to start putting on parachutes. Donnie just stood there dumbfounded, wondering what they were doing wasting time when they needed to jump NOW! He then turned to see that Sam was staring at the other three with the same exact expression that he had on his face. “Thank god for the same someone who always gets it” Don thought to himself. Sam turned back to face him and smiled, excited to wait for further instructions. “Well, NOW we only have a 30 second window. You guys know the plan” he said as he waved a hand behind him, even though he suspected his brothers wouldn’t see it. Sam walked up next to him, and right before they departed from the vehicle, she looked up at him with a confident look and put her fists up to demonstrate the ‘fighting/hwaiting’ expression that many of her k-pop celebrities displayed. The two nodded towards each other and leapt out of the plane.
Mikey literally had just happened to turn around and see the two exit the plane. “Uhhhh dudes?” “What?” Leo responded after just finishing securing a parachute to Raph’s back. “They jumped.” This got the older two’s attention as they both deadpanned to see the empty space behind them. “THEY JUMPED?!” Raph shouted, his eyes large and his mouth wide open in horror. “Uh huh” Mikey smirked. A cocky smile formed on Leo’s face as well. He expected this bad assery from Sam, but it was more surprising to see Donnie act this way. Regardless, his brother’s confidence meant it was time to move. “Alright, one for all” Leo said as he walked to the open entry way. “WAIT, WAIT, WAIT! YOU DON’T HAVE A-” “Whooo!” Leo shouted as he jumped out of the plane. Mikey was excited now that it was finally his turn. “I don’t need a chute” he said in a calm and content manner, “I got my BOARD!” And that fast he had joined the rest of the group in jumping out of the plane. He placed his skateboard at his feet as he spun in circles. He tilted forward and spun and then spun in circles sideways. This was definitely the most exciting moment of his life right here. It was like he was in a cycle of completing skateboard tricks that never ended, like he was in a loop filled with excitement. No one noticed that Raph was freaking out as he moved around frantically, reaching his arms out as if he could still reach his brothers who were spiraling downward towards the other plane.
Meanwhile, at the front of the line, Donnie was getting closer and closer to his target. Sam, using her powers so that she was flying like Iron Man, hung back some so that she could monitor her friend. Donnie shut his grappling gun. The suction cupped prongs launched forward and made a direct connection and stuck to the top of the plane. Donnie pressed a button so that he now was being pulled even faster towards the plane. The momentum of the movement allowed him to swing all the way around from one side of the plane to the other as his body was then slammed down onto the top. Once his body connected to the top surface, Sam was instantly by his side. She helped him quickly stand up and connect his snap hook and lanyard cable to the metal bridge on the attached device. Sam was now currently her strength powers to keep her feet planted, as if she was literally fighting against the wind. She looked up to see two more figures moving in closer towards the plane, recognizing who was who. She saw that Leo was in the front and that Mikey was still spinning around in circles. “That dork” she thought to herself with a smile. Her smile soon faded as she calculated Leo’s landing spot. “Leo’s off” she said, positioning herself as she was about to fly upwards to get him. “Wait!” Donnie called out to her. “Mikey can help him. You need to savor as much power as you can. You don’t know your limits here.”
Sam nodded as she continued to look upward. Mikey had reached Leo and moved both of them upwards so that they would land on the plane, but now they were coming in uncontrollably fast. Sam quickly leapt to her left side and zoomed around to the back tail of the plane, prepared to catch one of the brothers in case they couldn’t stick their landing. She was now standing along the right elevator wing on the plane, her increased strength keeping her body stabilized in place. She looked up to see Leo and Mikey make their impact on the top of the vehicle. Sam cringed as she saw Mikey land on his shoulders, grateful that her turtle friend had his shell on his back to brace most of the impact. Leo landed hard as well, but he managed to slam down onto his hands and knees. He rolled forward once and then, being the smooth and collected ninja he was, managed to land on his side with his hand and foot propping him up at an angle where he was able to slide down along the top of the plane. Mikey’s landing, however, was not so graceful. He landed on his shoulders, then spun around on his side, and then landed on his back. Because of this he was never able to place his arms or legs onto the plane and was not able to stick a solid landing like Leo had. Bouncing off his shell also launched him a bit higher off the surface as well as he soared over top and past Leo.
Although he wasn’t always graceful in his movements, Michelangelo was as quick as a bullet. He grabbed onto his nunchuks and extended them in hopes that Leo would be able to grab on. Leo was able to grab a hold with his right hand, but Donnie was now holding onto his left so that Leo and Mikey wouldn’t go flying off into the air. Because of this, Leo and Mikey both slammed against the rudder of the plane. Within that split second Mikey had lost his grip and let go of his side of the weapon. Sam picked up on this immediately and launched herself forward. She grabbed onto Mikey’s left hand while the momentum of her launch moved her body so that she continued to travel forward. She twisted her body so that her feet were flat on the plane as she stood sideways on the side of the plane, perpendicular to Leo. In doing this, Mikey’s body was pulled in the same direction. In being pulled forward so swiftly, the position of his body had not moved at all as he continued to face forward with his arms extended outward. Because of this, he was able to once again grab ahold of the nunchuks in Leo’s hand so that now two people were holding onto him. As quick as he could, Donnie walked over and grabbed hold of the snap hook and chord around Leo’s waist. “Sam!” Donnie shouted. Sam nodded and switched places with Donnie who had walked around Leo. Donnie was using both his hands to hold onto Mikey’s right wrist. Leo quickly pulled Mikey’s arm forward and then switched his own hands so that he was now using his left arm to hold Mikey’s wrist, his right arm now holding onto the rudder of the plane with all the strength he had. Meanwhile, Sam had used all her strength to fly forward and snap Leo’s hook onto the metal platform. “You’re good!” Sam shouted, using her strength to stay put in her spot. Leo and Donnie used all their might to pull Mikey forward. The two held onto their baby brother’s hands for dear life as they all fought their hardest to walk forward. Sensing their struggle, Sam walked forward and used both her hands to grab onto Leo’s open left hand in order to help the group move forward. Donnie placed his free hand on Mikey’s back in case his younger brother fell, that way he could grab onto him in some way and still try to keep him safe. Mikey leaped forward and connected his snap hook to the platform. Now that he was safe, he let the wind pull him back. Suddenly, Sam’s vision went black. For literally two seconds her body went limp and the wind began to take her backwards, but luckily Mikey and Leo both grabbed onto one her arms. By the time her consciousness returned, she was flying backwards with the two turtles being the only reason she wasn’t flying into midair by herself. She pulled herself forward and was able to get her feet back onto the plane’s surface. Mikey now pulled Sam in front of him so that her body could lean against his rather than flying backwards if whatever just happened would happen again. “What was that?!” Leo called out to her. “Uhhh, I slipped” Sam lied. She honestly had no idea what had just happened either, but she wasn’t about to admit that. Not now at least. Sam looked around and realized she was only standing with three brothers. “Uh, guys? Where’s Raph?” “There!” Mikey shouted as he pointed upwards at a figure falling towards the plane. “Looks like he’s coming in kinda fast” Mikey said, slightly worried about his brother’s location towards the plane. They saw Raph deploy his shoot due to him falling to far forward and almost missing the plane completely. The group cringed as they saw the chute pull Raph up and slam him into the front window of the plane. Sam noticed that the parachute was pulling to Raph’s right and was aiming down towards where the jet engine was. Terrified that Raph would get sucked up and torn to shreds, and without considering how weak she felt, Sam ran and launched herself forward and then down some so that she was in the open space between the engine and the body of the plane. She made it just in time to pull Raph closer towards her and out of the direction of the engine and then upwards. What Sam didn’t see was Raph now holding onto the wing of the plane. He held on as much as he could, but the pull of the wind was stronger. Raph was ripped from the wing as he went soaring back, but luckily was caught by Leo who had leapt outward and to the side, knowing that the lanyard cable connecting him to the metal platform would keep him safe. The two brother’s latched onto each other as Raph then dug his sai into the plane, keeping them both still. “Nice catch!” Raph shouted to his older brother. The two used all their might as they pulled themselves back towards their other brothers. Raph latched himself onto the plane and then looked around. “Where’s Sam?!” he shouted. Mikey shrugged. “We saw her fly back that way and we thought she was with you!” Donnie then pressed the button on his ear piece. “Sam?! Sam where are you?!” he shouted. “Ummmm I’m in a bit of a situation.” “There!” Leo said. He was turned around and pointing towards the rudder of the plane where Sam was holding on for dear life. “Sam what’s wrong?!” Donnie shouted.
What the brothers had not seen was a weak Sam use the last bit of energy she had left to save Raph, and because of this, her body went limp again as she was dragged to the back bottom side of the plane. Luckily it had only been for a few seconds again, so when she gained her consciousness she was able to grab onto the bottom of the plane. She had literally used the last of her energy to pull herself up and angle herself so that she was now hugging the rudder as she faced away from the brothers. Once Sam had explained all this through her ear piece, all four boys felt their hearts beating in their chests harder than before. Donnie quickly tried to think of a plan. “Alright Sam! You’re going to launch yourself straight forward one more time! There’s four of us, so one of us will catch you, but you have to aim straight and low, okay?!” Donnie shouted, the wind starting to bring tears to his eyes since he had been standing here the longest. Sam gulped and then agreed. She took a deep breath, mustered up all the strength she had left (which was little to none) and launched herself towards the guys. For the third time now, Sam’s vision went dark and her body went limp. The wind quickly pulled her body back, but she had four large turtles watching her every move. Sam’s body traveled straight back and, ironically, she was pulled right in Raph’s direction. The largest brother jumped up and grabbed onto her as he held her close to his body. Donnie instantly grabbed for the snap hook on her chest harness and locked her in so that she could no longer fly away from them. All four brothers sighed in relief once Sam was locked in place.
By the time Sam’s eyes opened back up she could no longer felt the wind on her face and could no longer feel the sunlight on her skin. Her ears picked up the sounds of male screams and as she slowly began to open up her eyes, she saw four green figures tossing black figures. She began to sit up, but she stopped as she felt a slight pounding in her head. The boys had just tossed the last Foot soldier out of the plane when they heard a noise and looked over to see Sam wincing. Mikey and Donnie walked over towards Sam while Leo and Raph shut the door. Donnie began checking to make sure her vision, heartbeat, and other vitals were okay (which they were to his relief). “You okay?” Sam asked him. Donnie’s eyes went wide. “Me? You’re the one that blacked out three times.” “Hehe, well it looks like we’re learning more about my limits.” “Not funny.” Sam turned to see Leo staring at her with angered concern. Sam nodded. “I know. Sorry” she said feeling guilty. “Is everyone okay?” She looked around to see all four turtles were with her, and this brought a smile to her face. Mikey and Donnie helped her stand up. The group then walked over to a large box in the middle of the room. The boys each took a side and ripped it off. All five of them now crouched down as they looked at the device behind the glass that was emitting a purple glow. “Okay, this must be what they came to Brazil for” Leo said, looking at the object with curiosity. “It’s an interdimensional portal opening thingy mabob” Mikey stated, eyes wide as he wondered how exactly this device worked. “Well there’s probably a more technical name for it” Donnie stated. Sam smirked, she wasn’t sure what was funnier: Mikey saying typical Mikey gibberish, or that Donnie was already nerding out and examining the new device as he pulled his goggles over his eyes. Sam then noticed something moving on the other side of the glass as she stood up between Mikey and Donnie. Raph had noticed this as well as he also stood up. He then grabbed onto Mikey’s head and turned it to face forward. “Uh, guys?” Raph asked with wide eyes. Mikey looked up with an excited smile at what was now in front of them. Donnie and Leo both turned to look forward and were now mimicking Raph’s expression. “Oh” Donnie said, placing his goggles back on top of his head. “Oh boy” Leo remarked. In front of them was a HUGE rhino and warthog mutant duo, kicking their feet and snorting loudly. Of course, Mikey was unphased as always and was more focused on how awesome this sight was rather than focusing on the fact that he needed to fight these giants. “Dude, bringing back the Mohawk! Good for you” he said as he stretched his arms out in a ‘smooth and cool’ motion. “Oh you guys have jokes huh?” the warthog asked as he smoothed his hair and put on his purple glasses. “Well let’s see how funny you are, after he bash your heads in!” he announced as he punched his fist into his head. The two giants charged at the group of five, and that’s when the true battle began.
Author’s Note: So I just recently finished watching the 2012 Nickelodeon series and my goodness this show was amazing. I’m slightly pissed at the extremely vague open-ended ending, but I also know that this is part of a contract deal that Nickelodeon has based on an article I read. Regardless, I still loved the series and I enjoyed everything it had to offer. I loved the romance (though I’m also slightly irked that it was hinted that Mikey ends up with Renet. I like him and Shini together way more. I liked his adorkable and comical side mixed with her smooth and badass personality. There was something about them where they had obvious differences but they were also mischievous and could easily get along well together. Totally shipped the hell out of those two as I did all the other couples). The action was intense and there were even emotional moments I was not expecting. I know everyone is allowed to their own opinion, but I’m shocked that there are people who basically bashed the hell out of this series. But hey, to each their own, and I will always respect others as long as they respect my thoughts back. But man I loved this series and I’m sad that it’s over, but I’m also extremely interested to see how this new series will play out. Like for…what, about 20 to 30 years since the turtles debuted (if I’m doing my math the right way, which mental math is my worst subject ever, so please don’t judge me) I feel like a solid 70-90% of what happens in every TMNT film/tv series is OVERALL very similar. For example, Raph clashing with Leo because he wants to be leader instead of his big brother, April always being a white woman (don’t worry, I know she was a black woman in the comics either in the beginning or at least at some point, sorry I still have A LOT to learn from the comics) who is either a reporter or a lab assistant, Leo attempts to stay calm and collected and usually ends up being an ass because of it but hey it’s okay because in the end he works together with his brothers and they all come together as a team, Leo usually being one of the most mature ones (though not always), Mikey usually being the main (not only) dork and goofball in the family, etc. But this new series is changing up a lot of things that I feel fans have just become accustomed to. Like, at first I was getting a bit upset as I heard all these new changes, but then I thought this mindset over and actually became more excited for the new show. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out once it airs! For now I’m going to attempt to watch episodes from the 03 series while I also read the Batman and TMNT collab series and MAN THAT COMIC IS FREAKING AMAZING SO FAR!!! I’m reading it at a ridiculously slow pace, but man what I’ve seen so far is pretty dang cool. Thank you for reading my rant: -TheNerdyTomboyNewb96
