Celie’s PoV -

I shouldn’t have let that foolish girl go on her own. I had been watching over Allegro since..her fight. Seeing this poor girl...broken like this I couldn’t help but shed tears for her. The lights were off as I entered her apartment, and it was deathly quiet except for a quiet sound...whimpering sobs. I walked to the back of her room and all I could see was a small fragile figure under the covers, trembling.

“Allegro..darling. Speak to me.” No Response.

I stepped over to the bed and slowly and gently removed the covers from her, and the sight before me broke my heart. Allegro was curled into the fetal position, hair messy and unkempt. Her eyes were red and her cheeks and face wet from her tears. Allegros legs were red from where her hands had been gripping them, scratch marks from how deeply her nails dug. She looked up at me and I couldn’t help but shed a few tears as I sat next to her.

I pulled her close to me and my heart shattered as she began crying even harder. Her wails I’m sure will echo in my heart forevermore.

“Darling...tell me...how did it happen? I will pass no judgment. But I want you to talk to me.”

She shuddered in my arms and I heard her sniff. She opened her mouth and explained through choked sobs.

“Its all my fault.”

Allegro’s PoV, Earlier that Day

I was packing my stuff in the E.R.A household early in the morning. Too early for anyone to notice if I had left. I had talked to Bexy and Mist and the others about doing a contract for this...but I couldn’t bear myself to bother them. They all had so much going on, loved ones they cared about. I couldn’t endanger anymore lives than needed. No. This was my own problem..

As I arrived in Tailfeather, I began shaking. Would my uncle hold up his end of the bargain? I had no clue..but we’d have to hope he would. I hadn’t informed Celie where I was going, and I didnt intend to tell her. I couldn’t endanger her either. I wandered out of the village and into the fields as I gripped my fists tight. My nerves were getting the better of me. I had to calm down..

The spot he called for was secluded and wide open. For anyone to hide would be bizarre, but I suppose there were a few thick trees. 

Then I saw her, in the middle of the field. And untied. 

Why? This was beyond suspicious but...I let my emotions get the better of me. I rushed forward to her and she ran to me when she saw me, but...she stopped and yelled.

“Totoqi! Run! No!”

I immediately turned around and saw two masked men running towards me, daggers out. I immediately flung the linkpearl to her with a toss that Sylvia had given me in case of emergency. Just as one of the men, I believe was another Miqo’te, thrust forward with a dagger I jumped up, landing on his arm. I jumped off of it and backflipped into a kick to the mans chin. The other man, a Hyur, sliced at me, barely knicking my shirt as I stepped back. I slammed my hands down and propelled my feet up, slamming both feet into his chin also. I had to keep my distance being 2 on 1! The Miqo’te charged again as he got up, and the other man charged as well. I immediately ducked at the Miqo’tes thrust and grabbed him by that same arm and swung him into the other and the dagger I took from him and flung into the Hyurs neck. The Miqo’te got up in a rage and screeched at me. I put my hand out and gave him a “Bring it” motion as he charged. I closed my eyes a bit and collected my aether.

Do as Celie told you, restraint. Picture an egg. Don’t break it!

Just as he jumped, and was intending to stab down into my head, to him I had vanished from the spot. I had jumped over him, using my electrical pulse technique and stopped behind him as I slammed my foot down onto his head, trying to keep one of them alive. The sound of thunder slamming down echoed as he was knocked out and fell.

But where was my uncle? Neither of these men were him..where is he? 

“Oh my lovely little niece. Did you really think I’d play nicely?”

I immediately felt the air grow heavy as his chuckle echoed around me and I immediately looked behind me as I heard a striking sound and a choked out sound.

“NO!”

The moment I turned around I saw it. My mother had run from her spot and jumped behind me, and I saw the sword through her. My uncle was in front of her, her blood running down the sword toward him. 

“Oh..I didnt intend to kill you first dear sister, Ruhne, but I suppose this is a bonus.” 

My eyes wide open and I shook. He ripped the sword out heartlessly as he flung her blood off of the sword.

I ran to her as she fell to her knees and he jumped back as I grabbed onto her arm. 

“M-mom! Why?!”

She just turned her head to me, tears running down her face. Her eyes..looked just like mine.

“Darling Totoqi..a mother’s love..has no limits.”

She then slumped down and tears ran down my face as she fell into my arms. I put a finger to her neck and I still felt a pulse.

“You..”

I muttered as I gently placed her down and looked at him.

Allegro’s body started producing an immense amount of static. The very air around her crackled as her rage climbed. The sound of electricity could be heard in her uncle’s ears, but he only laughed.

“Really now? You seemed to be a bit more of an ice queen before. I guess now your a little more ANGRY aren’t you?” He continued to chortle as his face turned maniacal. 

“Oh my darling niece. That won’t sto-” He was cute short as a thunderclap struck and he felt what to him felt like a boulder slammed into his stomach. He choked out blood as he looked down and Allegro’s fist had connected with his stomach and he cringed.

“W-wh-”

Another thunderclap echoed as her leg slammed into his shin and a crack was heard as the bone shattered. 

“You will shut the hell up for once!” Allegro shouted, but he quickly sliced at her and she jumped back out of the range of it, but the sword grazed her stomach and left a small cut as the static danced across it. She bared her teeth as her eyes were a bright purple, glowing incandescently. He let out a rage filled roar as he flung two daggers at her that he held from his waist and she jumped to the right and then left to dodge, but she didn’t see a third one thrown and it cut across her arm and she cursed out.

“I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” She screamed out as her fangs bared, her eyes wild. She charged at him and he swung his sword low, panicking a bit as hit plan began to go awry. She jumped over it and landed a right hook on his face and a tooth of his flew out. He spit out more blood and slammed an arm down on her head and she let out a cry as she backed off. She held her head as she took in the sight of him. She couldn’t use too much more of that aether, but all she could see was red. Allegro couldn’t control herself as she roared and charged at him once more, he couldn’t move due to the broken shin, but he hobbled at her as she swung his sword down.

“YOU’RE A DISGRACE TO OUR CLAN, YOUR MOTHER WAS A WHORE WHO DEFILED OUR BLOO-”

He was cut short as the sword swung down, but Allegro had dodged to the right, and in one swift movement she charged her fist with all of the aether she had left and slammed it hard into his throat and electricity fizzled through his body and thunder exploded from the two of them. Dust and dirt flung itself into the air around them, and as it dissipated the sound of cracking could be heard as his windpipe had been crushed...and his head had been blown clean off. The body of her uncle fell to the ground as soot fluttered down. IT was a sight similar to the dragon fight..her aether had burned that man to a crisp.

Allegro was breathing heavy as she dropped to a kneel and wiped blood from her nose. Exerting herself had caused a mild nosebleed, but it didnt seem to phase her. She looked over the corpse of her uncle and spit in his direction as her eyes widened as she remembered her mother.

Allegro’s PoV 

I had nearly forgotten in my rage..I had been so blinded. 

I ran back to my mother laying on the ground where I had placed her and lifted up her head as she coughed out. The stab wound bled out onto the ground from her stomach, and tears began to fall as I started to panic.

“M-mom. Mom look at me!”

I gently shook her as she opened her eyes. All she could muster was a smile and stared at me. Her hand raised to my face as she caressed and held my cheek.

“Oh Totoqi...you’ve grown into such a strong young woman...Im so proud of you.” she choked out as she spit up more blood.

I shook my head as more tears fell. I could feel pain in my chest as I held her and looked at her.

“M-mom don’t talk! I can take you back to Adelle or Sylvia. Anyone! Cicero! Someone! Just don’t talk!”

Mom shook her head as tears ran down her face. She put her hand on the back of my head and pulled my face close to hers, as our foreheads touched and she forced out a chuckle.

“You know with this wound honey I won’t make it,” She coughed again as she chuckled with a disturbingly warm smile.” The day you were born was such a happy day for me. Your older sister couldn’t wait to hold you...but I just couldn’t let go of you. You were absolutely beautiful with your bright blue eyes, and a hit of moon keeper in them.” She smiled as more tears rand down her face.

She rubbed her hand through my hair as I sobbed. I couldn’t lose her! No!

“Totoqi..smile for me.” She pleaded. I could see in her eyes she wanted it badly.

I forced a smile as tears ran down my face and I nodded. 

She smiled and pulled me close to her again as I held her. 

“My darling little Totoqi...I love you so much.”

My eyes snapped open as with those words...she took her last breath. Her arm fell from me and she slumped down. 

No...no! NO!

Celie’s PoV

I had known that foolish girl would’ve left without me! I saw signs of her little area in the E.R.A household that signaled her departure, and I had told her of where the duel was to take place. I have to get there soon!

I ran out of Tailfeather as I skidded to a stop...and saw a sight that explained it was too late. Allegro was holding the body of..what I assumed to be her mother. I glanced over to a burnt area of the grass and saw...what was left of a body. Electrical burns. I looked over and took in one dead man, and another that was knocked out. I ran over closer to Allegro but came to a stop as I took in the sight. She just kept..rocking back and forth as her mother laid in her arms. The wails coming from her...will echo in my heart to this day. I knelt down next to her and tapped her...and she looked at me immediately and was sobbing. “I failed..Celie. I couldn’t protect her.” 

I gazed at her broken face and pried her hands from her mother and picked her up and held her close. She just began wailing in my arms as I held her. Ill never forget...the cries Allegro let out. The cries...of someone who I thought of as my daughter. 

After she had cried herself to sleep in my arms I lifted myself up still carrying her. I took her back to her adoptive father, Hubert. His face said it all, one of a heartbroken father as he took her into his arms and nodded to me.

I will do the deed..I couldn’t leave it to Allegro. I couldn’t bear to let her do it.

So I took myself back to the field and found her mother. I grimaced as I nodded to myself and picked up her mothers body in a bridal carry and took her back to Tailfeather.

“Bury her outside town..I want her mother to be close to her.” Hubert had told me before I left.

So I did...a small makeshift gravestone outside the village. I buried her mother, and as I finished I knelt down in front of the grave and put an arm over my heart.

“Miss Ruhne...I will watch over her..as if she were my own daughter.” A tear ran down my cheek as I wiped it and sniffed. I took a beautiful flower Hubert had given me, a periwinkle lily, and placed it before the grave.

With this wish and prayer...I will look after Allegro. Mark my words.
