Thực tế, Kia Sonet 7 chỗ được sản xuất ở Ấn Độ nhưng lại để xuất khẩu đi thị trường nước ngoài mà không bán trong nước. Phiên bản mới đã ra mắt ở Indonesia, vài tháng sau khi bản 5 chỗ được giới thiệu và về cơ bản là giống nhau.

Nhưng so với bản 5 chỗ bán ở Ấn Độ, phiên bản 5 chỗ ở Indonesia lại dài hơn 125 mm, cụ thể chiều dài 4.120 mm so với 3.995 mm. Sự vượt trội về chiều dài giúp Kia dễ dàng thêm hàng ghế thứ ba cho chiếc crossover.

Sonet sử dụng động cơ 1,5 lít, 4 xi-lanh, công suất 115 mã lực và mô-men xoắn 144 Nm. Đây cũng là bản động cơ duy nhất ở Indonesia, trong khi ở Ấn Độ còn có tùy chọn máy xăng 1,2 lít, dầu 1,5 lít hoặc xăng một lít turbo. Tùy chọn giữa số sàn 6 cấp hoặc CVT.

Trang bị an toàn với 6 túi khí, cảm biến đỗ xe trước và sau, hệ thống quản lý độ ổn định thân xe và hệ thống hỗ trợ phanh.
