I always assumed it was a joke, something that supposedly happened off screen.

But I was rewatching Losing My Motivation while writing another theory, and he said it right there.

It's kind of hard to look at pictures of space and planets. Like, you look at them and immediately realise how far away they are- and how tiny we are. How infinitesimal. Unimportant. It just hits you, the way asteroids hit the moon's surface and leave those craters. Everything is so much bigger than you, than us, and we are only a tiny part of everything- a tiny group of cells creating havoc of every kind on this rock hurtling through infinite space with a trillion, gazillion other rocks and probably other tiny group of cells.

It's so humbling.
