Nikki’s nose crinkles, the words rubbing her raw in a way she can’t explain. She’d already said to a third party that she’d be happy for them, and she was. Perhaps it’s the idea of hiding it that chaffs her. That Buffy was keeping things about this person vague to spare feelings for reasons she couldn’t wrap her head around.

It takes her back to New York and shit left unsaid between people she considered her friends. She considered her family. Bringing the glass of whatever cocktail she threw together with what was left in the fridge, Nik used drinking as a way to delay her response. 

Stepping through the kitchen with the drink still in her mouth like some sort of living kermit meme. She waited until she was in the hallway until she tossed back an absent minded, whatever. And smiled back at Buffy. “Watch the couch though, we’ve got a fourth roommate for a while.”

Being caught off guard is a rare occurrence for Saoirse, one that made her immediately on edge. It was late, and the knock at the door of her office wasn’t common at these hours. When she sees Buffy on the other side, she cracks open the door. Tired eyes trying to make sense of what she was talking about.There are about three things that immediately come to mind as she takes in her words. Was this about her repeated scuffs with Ajax’s son? The bombing? She hadn’t forgotten to pay the girl, there was no way. So what was she on about?

“You’re upset,” Saoirse stated calmly, opening the door to accommodate her. “Come on, we’ll talk it out.”

She was picking out the spot for her next office, liking to move them around frequently and spotting out locations when she caught sight of a familiar frame in the corner of her eye. A silhouette she’s sure she could make out in any light, even a run down street lamp. “You’re out late.” Saoirse said in greeting, looking at the apartment above an old seamstress shop with a glimmer in her eye. 

It was definitely a spot to consider. 

“I thought you’d be at the shop, I know I recommended you to a couple recruits this morning.”
