Did you know J might be left handed? When she fights with the sword in one hand it’s with her left.
Huh. Didn't notice that before, but I went back and watched a bunch of J scenes (all, idk, five of them lol) and, yeah - spaceship keys, swords, guns, apology notes from N, JcJ-branded pens; her left is definitely her favored hand for holding things and doing stuff.
I'm really gonna have to go back and meticulously analyze murder drones for little details like that - all this time, I was making J ambidextrous, like a fool.
#not art#query aza#innermilkshakearbiter#murder drones#serial designation j#'tis positively criminal how little J we got in the show (unserious (mostly))#but that's why we have fanworks!

It would be really interesting to see Arthur’s POV from when Donovan took Robin to when he and Rikaad “rescued” Robin
Oh it would! I'll give you all some general points on what happened after Dee left!
Arthur raced back as fast as he could trying to get any sort of help before realizing the higher ups wouldn't do shit to help Robin considering both of them used to be on the street and only got into the school as some sort of publicity stunt.
He ran into Rikaad instead anyway, who was currently sorting through a bunch of the weapons used to fight against the manticores, including a crossbow with sedative darts >:)
After Arthur told Rikaad The both of them did tell higher rankings guards what had happened but were not believed as ‘there were no giants In Barmea anymore’ so they went by themselves.
They basically just followed trampled Greenery and Broken sticks and then later the trail of petals Robin accidentally left until they found them.
Rikaad shot Dee and then they both ran out of reach as he fell over lol
Both were pretty surprised as Robin shouted at them from a tree not to kill the big guy but did as asked anyway (with some doubts of course)
So yeah, that's pretty much it!

I curse you with the knowledge that the first third of HTTYD and the beginning half of Ep.1 of Murder Drones are basically the same story.
I mean, the plots of the first HTTYD film and Murder Drones follow kinda similar lines in general - inventive, tech-savvy social outcast builds extremely dubious weapon to fight murderbeasts, injures one of the murderbeasts only to experience an "instructions unclear" moment and end up befriending him instead, they go on to bond and unearth world-shaking revelations together and then save everyone in the finale by fighting a devouring horror through the power of friendship, incredible violence, and explosions.
When a premise works, it works.
#murder drones has more bisexuality robots and weird girls in it though; which makes it superior in my mind#(< a weird girl who is very definitely not biased by her own queerness and how normal she is about robots)#query aza#innermilkshakearbiter#aza rambles#not art

I know you probably already know this, but I have SUFFERED at the hands of Liam Vickers and his BS shot framing (I was finding N’s height myself because nothing I found made sense). Specifically the shot from “PILOT” where it zooms in on N and Uzi just before the final fight. Far away N is MUCH taller than Uzi, but when it zooms in, THEY’RE CLOSER IN HEIGHT!
LIAAAMMM (Screamed like Maul does Kenobi)
Now all I can think of is everything I've seen about the Eternal Struggle of Trying To Animate Things So They Look Good In The Shot and all the hacks animators will do to make a shot happen the way the want it to. As someone who's dabbled in the art, I can absolutely sympathize, even as I too am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how tall these robots are, screaming Liam's name into my computer like Captain Kirk in The Wrath of Khan.
#query aza#innermilkshakearbiter#not art#murder drones#how tall are these robots? *waves hands dramatically* nobody knows!

wait… I just realized that I’ve NEVER seen a Worm Nori… huh. I mean we KNOW Khan would still love his Kooky Wife if she was a worm, but it’s weird I’ve never seen it done.
Huh. That is... huh. I don't think I've ever seen art of that either. I know I've seen it written about at least once though (ladydaybreaker coming in clutch with the Ad Astra series, once again).
Still, gonna have to fix the lack of Worm Nori art.

Another little detail I noticed about how JCJ talks about drones is in the “VHS” tape shown at the beginning of “Home” where it says that the shutdown virus (wdOS_606) is, “fun for them”
Ah yes, getting deliberately infected with a virus that beats you into a coma, then either you get fed into the Legally Mandated Robot Mulcher, or you're left to rust away in a charnel pit, waiting in thoughtless, insensate software death until you get "lucky" enough to spontaneously resurrect or your core fails and true oblivion finally claims you. Fun for the whole family! (le sarcasm)
Genuinely, I love how all the worldbuilding scattered throughout the background of Murder Drones paints an image of a world that, when you stop to think about it, is just as horrific as the body-snatching eldritch madness happening on screen. Truly some "you will live to see man-made horrors beyond your comprehension" type stuff.

I just realized something, in Ep. 5 Uzi (a Worker who kills N) possesses a Memory version of a Crow, which in the IRL events, is what kills N as a WD.
Is this a "bro cannot catch a break" moment? feels like one lol

Just noticed something that I completely overlooked in Ep.3, after Doll throws N and V backstage and Uzi is tossed to the floor, Khan actually tries to run in to help.
And then gets a door slammed in his face for his trouble. Even so, we love to see a character recognizing their mistakes and trying to do better.
#query aza#innermilkshakearbiter#it’s a comparatively small part of the narrative but I love Khan’s character arc in the show#“we move forward together or not at all” indeed

No no no, don't you dare apologize, that is both hilarious and true, you get out of the notes and say it louder!
Hitting N with the Signalis doomed yuri angst beam (don't worry, he's fine and living his best life, I'm just being a lil' silly).
Upgraded N WIP (with bonus nuvi) because it's been a long week. The elbow spikes actually have a functional purpose (besides "being frickin' awesome"), believe it or not.
#peer reviewed replies#congratulations to innermilkshakearbiter for being the funniest person on my post#you win the internet today comrade
