ryan ross iceberg explained (masterpost and tier 1)

tier 2, tier 3, tier 4, tier 5, tier 6, tier 7, tier 8

if somehow you have no idea how icebergs work/what they are, then i’ll give a tldr: it comes from the saying “it’s just the tip of the iceberg,” so basically, the entries at the top of the iceberg are the stuff the average person would know, and as you go deeper, the content becomes more obscure. for example, if you’re a more casual panic! fan, then a lot of the entries in the sky tier are more likely to be things you would know, whereas you’re probably only going to know the stuff at the very bottom if you’re an insane person (me).

i got most of the entries from this iceberg from a couple of others that i found on twitter, here and here [i]. i combined them, shifted some stuff around, and added some things to make this one. of course, a special thanks to the twitter users areyouIlooking and checkyesjuul for making the ones i used to create this one.

i also want to give a special shoutout to the tumblr blogs @pathetic-at-the-disco and @prettyoddfever because i got so much info from them for this iceberg and they are just incredible sources of information for panic! fans.

finally, i'm really hoping everything on this iceberg is correct; of course, i did my research and there was a lot of it i already knew. however, i was not actually there for presplit panic! so i can't speak off of firsthand accounts for a lot of things. with that being said, if something is wrong, or if there is something you think should be added, please feel free to let me know, and i will go back and edit the post.

enough introduction, let’s get started.

the sky (tier 1):

guitarist of panic!:

what he is most well known for. ryan was the original guitarist of panic! and one of the true founding members. he departed the band in 2009 with former bassist jon walker, which we’ll come back to later.

rosevest:

this refers to an iconic piece of clothing that ryan wore while they were touring their debut album, a fever you can’t sweat out. he wears it in live in denver as well.

good at makeup:

during the fever era, ryan was really well known for doing makeup looks, some elaborate. i’m inserting some examples here, but i’m also going to link a post that showcases more pics of the makeup looks he did. there are more that he did than just the ones shown in that post or here (like the god awful blue eyeshadow he did on that red carpet), and there were a lot of times he just did the classic black smudged eyeliner.

ryden:

oh boy, where do we even start with this one. there are actually going to be quite a bit of ryden references in this, but at the end i’ll link a masterpost for further reading (although most of it will be covered here). but to be keep it short and simple, ryden is the ship name for ryan ross and brendon urie. it was arguably one of the biggest ships in early 2000s bandom, as evidenced by the litany of fics written with them as a pairing. this ship (unfortunately) still lives on in people’s hearts today even though ryan and brendon don’t speak anymore.

also, i know it would seem to make more sense if their ship name was ryDON not ryDEN because of how brendon’s name is spelled, but the ship name comes from the mashing of their nicknames ryro and bden (which still doesn’t make any sense but i digress).

unfortunately, all of the ryden content on this iceberg will probably be long because i am a former rydennie (yes u can make fun of me for it go ahead) so i have a lot of knowledge on that ship. but trust me i know that ryden was not real.

“creative differences:”

this entry refers to the july 6th, 2009 split where ryan and jon left the band. the most cited reason for the split was musical differences, as stated in these interviews with brendon and spencer [iv]. however, most people believe the band actually split due to personal reasons since they basically all stopped speaking afterwards, and because of some comments jon made [v]. in fact, one MTV interview specifically singled out ryan and brendon as not getting along, but it has since been deleted [vi].

cheez wiz:

this references a clip from the pretty. odd. short-film called american valley [vii]. the video went viral circa 2015/2016 and became a huge meme in the bandom community, especially in the crankthatfrank yeemo fanbase (that sentence wasn’t in the bible). if you were a panic! fan during that time, you know the cheez wiz jokes were inescapable.

milk fic:

“ryan was kneeling in the bathtub…”

this is also unfortunate. to be blunt, this is a ryden fic in which brendon gives ryan an enema with milk. it catalyzed a trend of other shocking fics within the bandom sphere, such as the comb fic. it’s just cringy. sadly, it became so iconic that brendon knows about it and even made a vine referencing it [viii].

i would link it but i’m not going to because the author, druscila, is a pedophile. so there’s that.

onceler jokes:

i’m going to put a picture of the onceler, who is from the lorax, and ryan side by side. and that should explain this.

i feel fucking insane i just keep staring at these and it makes me think (yet to be colored)

victor's first outfit has such an attachment to my mind it's like the same effect a base model has. it's just iconic

he tends to wear neutral colors i think, with his first being the only pop of color.... of RED!!!! and he's modeled with terracotta eyeshadow so if there's any color he's willing to wear it'll be warm toned

when he's indoctrinated into the house, he's forced to wear green (associated with bobby, he has green eyes). the scene where this is shown indicates that victor has fully submitted (the objectifying shower scene, getting dressed while filmed, it's also the lead up to his first ever "job" ...)

really. makes you think because a similar thing happens later on when victor has to put on bobby's clothes, before returning to what will be chloe's death scene...... to wear clothes is a model's job, so this is like a mega fuck you to victor. kind of like saying "i own you" 😬(WAIT NO, THE MODEL'S JOB IS TO BE A MOVING MANNEQUIN SO IT'S SAYING. YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A PAWN IN MY GAME. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!)

THSR Designer’s Notes: The Ruffle Dress

This is the third in a series of posts where I break down the design choices I made for my illustrated Frozen 3 fan-script, True Hans Soul Rebel. Link here if you haven’t read it: https://archiveofourown.org/works/27113293/chapters/66207733

So. THSR is broken into three acts, like a good Gisnep feature, but it can also be broken in half, if you like. The first seven sequences, and the last seven. The center piece, on which everything hinges, is the Spring Ball.

Up until now, I hadn’t talked about the non-Hans/Marie character designs, because there’s not much to say with them. Of course, in the fully realized movie, there would be updated wardrobes for the whole cast - spring palettes for Anna and Kristoff, Elsa’s fifth spirit outfit is made more combat-ready - but I didn’t have to think very hard about them, for my purposes in illustrating my fic. They’re all about what you expect, more or less, from “Frozen, but make it spring”. This changes with the ball.

All of the main cast get new outfits - showcased in the character posters. They were all designed with each other and the setting in mind, and to weather the emotional/physical gauntlet that is THSR’s second half. This is going to be lot. Let’s break it down.

First up, the ruffle dress:

In my notes, this is also called “Elsa’s DTF dress”.

And that is what it is. Elsa has a crush, and she wants to dance with her.

Romance is a new frontier for the character, a side of herself she’s never had to confront directly before. The tumultuous mix of love and fear causes her to lose control of her powers for the first time in years. She can’t keep her ice solid, one of the consequences of which is that she can’t dress herself with magic. The ruffle gown is wholly analog, made from repurposed material in the back of her old closet with the help of castle servants. (I give them six hours in-story to make it, which is still insane. But if you want a realistic depiction of dressmaking, you’ve come to the wrong genre)

The challenge for the ruffle dress was that it had to both feel like Elsa - and not like Elsa. Show her out of her depth, out of her element, and also asserting her new desires. Show the influence from Marie, which means true warm colors foreign to her palette. And, of course, make it work for the Frozen spring collection.

Here’s a very early draft (the middle one) which didn’t work at all. I tried to keep the exposed shoulders, and have the ruffles more period-inspired. The good idea of having the ruffles mimic water is there, but it looks like she’s wearing melted ice cream. The pastels are also wrong - immature. I was trying to keep within the rules Frozen’s artbooks laid out, that if you go too dark or too warm, Elsa stops feeling like herself.

See the dark blue and black she wears at the height of her encloisterment. And the dark magenta nightgown, when the story is about how Arendelle is not where she belongs.

I was being cowardly, in other words. The break through came with the realization that that the look would be better the more paradoxical it seemed. If it has the structure of an Elsa gown that shows her embracing herself - open shoulders and back, giving you anachronistic high femme eleganza - and the colors associated with her insecurity. By her own choices, too - Elsa’s an artist, she expresses herself through her clothes. This is her expressing what romance is to her, something dark and unknown, but strangely familiar, like the deep sea.

The pinned hair is a compromise on these lines - bringing back the waves in the braid, but keeping it free, as in her fifth spirit look.

Here’s another draft:

Now we’ve got something. Abyssal blues, dark but highly saturated jewel tone, with ethereal aqua lining and passionate red accents. The ruffles also echo hellebore, the winter rose - like the spring palace’s chandelier.

The halterneck is in line with Frozen 2 concept art.

The creative team decided against this - I’m guessing because it was too dark/warm, and didn’t contrast well enough with Anna’s dark autumn leaf palette. But this shows the high collar is possible keeping within Elsa’s style - the ruffle dress actually exposes more of her shoulders.

The rich blue and red lipstick is also much like the concept art, though with the dramatic eyeshadow she reminds me of another iconic queen.

Queer Villain Couture. This is what we are here for, this is everything Elsa’s relationship to Marie is. And come Act 3, this is exactly the aesthetic for slinging wild magic down from a volcano.

The ruffles could use some work, though. The real cascading effect I want, I’m not sophisticated enough to draw from scratch.

Here’s an attempt to articulate the ruffles in a uniform flow:

I try, but it’s not right. Ends up looking jagged, not flowy, and oddly like a flamenco dancer. Which isn’t bad in general, but wrong for Elsa and too much at odds with the setting. (side note, wtf is up with Marie’s hair here? Girl, hang on, we’ll get to you in a minute) I made many attempts to get the cascade effect free-hand, and I always just ended up with something like this.

In the end, I just cheated. I found a real prom dress with the ruffle shape I wanted on google search, traced them on. Now you know. Regretfully, I then deleted the layer, and now I can’t find the exact dress I stole by searching again to credit them. Ah, well. Maybe somebody bought it?

I only cheated once, though - every subsequent illustration with the ruffle dress I winged it (as you can probably tell).

Forget everything else I’ve said, this thing was really designed to make 2D animators cry.

In all, the ruffle dress is THSR’s answer to the snow queen gown, and the fifth spirit gown - Elsa’s big statement piece of the film. The thing kids would beg their parents for come Halloween. And I think it does it’s job, as something that both stands up to the rest of Elsa’s wardrobe, and stands out alongside the other Disney heroines in their finest.

But, to Elsa’s astonishment, her ruffle dress in all it’s glory is not the real showstopper of the ball.

A/N: hi lovelies i’m back with, you guessed it, more shinso!!! this fic is 100% self indulgent bc i absolutely love makeup lol. i’m trying out a bunch of different things in terms of formatting so like tell me if this section looks ugly LMAO. anyways pls enjoy !!

summary: You’re a popular Beauty Guru™ and Shinso is primarily a commentary channel. He follows one of your tutorials, only to be surprised by you talking about how fine he is.

“That will be all for this video, if you enjoyed it please show some love by clicking on the like button, and if you like me, subscribe! Like always, feel free to tag me if you recreate this look, I love seeing all of your posts! I’ll see you Earthlings later, bye!” With both hands waving and a bright smile, you successfully finished filming your outro that you have possibly said three hundred times.

Before you could even get a word out, Mina was screaming into the phone. “Y/N? OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD. YOU WON’T BELIEVE THIS. I’M FREAKING OUT FOR YOU! AHHHH!” You winced, not expecting her to be that loud. Sure, you knew quite well that she could get loud, but that’s because she gets excited. So to be this noisy must mean something big is happening.

“Why, hello to you too Mina. How’s my day going? Good! Thank you for asking. I would ask how yours is going but from the sound of it, I’ll assume pretty good.” You snickered into the phone.

“Well, my dear Y/N, it’s about to be even better than just good!” Mina’s volume was significantly lower, but you could still tell just how excited she was.

“Oh really? What’s going to make my day better than? Wait let me guess, NikkiTutorials resigned and gave up her spot as the most iconic beauty guru and gave it to me?” You snorted. If only.

“No! It’s even better!” The pitch of Mina’s voice kept raising higher and higher.

“Okay, okay, spit it out Mina. You’re really making me curious and I don’t know if I should be worried or not.” You grabbed your glass of water from you table and took a sip. Gross, warm. But it was too much work to get a new glass so you began downing this one.

“SHINSO HITOSHI DID A REACTION VIDEO TO ONE OF YOUR TUTORIALS!” You choked on your water and half of it went down the wrong way. You began coughing and Mina, the little bitch, didn’t say anything while you were dying. You could imagine her just sitting there, waiting for you to respond after your coughing fit.

After getting it all out, you swallowed, eyes still wide. “Mina, you’re not joking right now, are you? Because if you are, I know where you live, and I won’t hesitate, bitch.”

“I’m not! I’m really not! Check his channel, he, like, just uploaded it!”

You grabbed your laptop and opened Google Chrome. “Call me back on FaceTime, rat.” You told Mina before hanging up on her. You typed YouTube into the search bar while Mina called you back. When you answered, you could see that she was also in her filming room.

Mina, like you, is a beauty YouTuber that is well known for her flawless skin, even though she has the simplest skincare routine you have ever seen. Her chipper personality also drew in a ton of fans towards her channel. The two of you had met through YouTube and were soon to find out that you lived in the same city. Your friendship really bloomed then, and you basically live at each other’s houses.

You got onto YouTube, and lo and behold, there it was. Obviously you were subscribed to Shinso’s channel, so the first video of pop up was his. It was titled “i learn how to become beautiful” and his thumbnail was him with his signature “kill me now” face on with some patchy, hot pink, glitter eyeshadow all over his eyelids. But also, you were there! You were in his thumbnail which could only mean one thing: this was real.

“HOLY SHIT MINA, I’M IN HIS THUMBNAIL.”

“I KNOW! NOW WATCH THE VIDEO! I HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET THOUGH SO TURN THE VOLUME UP.” She screeched and you did.

You clicked on the video and there he was, Shinso Hitoshi, looking as good as ever. His tired eyes that screamed “I could die at any given moment” and his messy hair that somehow defied physics. It has to be downright illegal to look that hot. Today he was sporting one of his merch items, a hoodie that had simple print on the front of it saying: I’m Shinso Over This. Of course you owned that very sweatshirt. You would never miss out on a chance to buy his merch.

“Hi. I’m back, unfortunately.” His tone was as dry as it always was. “I was harassed into doing this, go bully Denki on Twitter because this is all his fault. But today I’m going to be making myself beautiful with the help of Y/N. Okay, she’s not actually helping me, but I’m going to watch one of her tutorials.” Your heart pounded as he mentioned you. One of creators that you loved the most is going to follow one of your tutorials. You could die happy now.

“HE SAID YOUR NAME!” Mina shrieked from your phone and you nodded eagerly as you kept your eyes glued to the computer.

“I’m going to choose this one, “EASY Valentines Day Makeup Tutorial + Q&A!” because it says easy.” You watched as your face from the most recent Valentine’s Day popped up. In the intro, you had already filmed the tutorial part and were wearing the full face. It was a fairly easy look, to you at least.

You had done a simple glitter cut-crease, primarily using warm toned reds and pinks with some winged liner and false lashes for your eyes. Your face had some sharper contour and heavy blush that trailed from one cheek to another, using your nose like a bridge. And of course, you had used a super glittery highlighter that reflected with all of your studio lights. You had also used a maroon liquid lip.

“Greetings, Earthlings! It’s me, Y/N, and I’m here to do another tutorial! Today we’re going a Valentines Day themed full face, and I’m also going to be answering some love related questions you asked me on Twitter since it is Valentines Day after all. If you’d like to recreate this look, as always I listed all the products I’m going to use down in the description!” You pointed your fingers downwards. “Without further ado, let’s get started!”

Shinso paused your video and held up a Sephora bag. “I spent so much money on this stuff, and I’m never going to use it again.” He lazily drawled. The fact that he made eye bags hot was insanity. You wanted to cry for him because some of the products you used were unnecessarily expensive.

Shinso unpaused your video and you had begun priming your face. He dug around in the Sephora bag before pulling out the primer you were using. As he squirted some on his fingertips, he made an especially disgusted look as he felt the consistency of it. He watched as you spread it all over your face, and copied you.

“She didn’t lie when they said easy.” He mused. Mina and you both cackled through your phone. Primer was possibly the easiest step ever because it didn’t affect the way you looked whatsoever. “Uhh, okay now she’s putting on, uhhh, foundation?” He grabbed a bottle of foundation out of the bag along with a Beauty Blender. “The people at Sephora said this was my skin colour, so I’ll believe them.” Shinso shrugged and set the bottle down to get the Beauty Blender out of the box.

You began blending the foundation into your skin and Shinso did the same. “Alright! First question from Andrea! ‘Are you dating anyone right now?’ wow Andrea, you sure did get straight to the point. Unfortunately no, I’m not in a relationship right now.” You had finished your foundation and had moved on to concealing your under eyes.

Shinso hummed as he watched as you put a relatively small amount of concealer under your eyes and looked into the camera, somehow making his eye-bags even more prominent. “Look, I don’t know much about makeup, but I know I’m going to need more concealer than that. Also I’m surprised that they’re not dating anyone. She’s too good looking to be single.” So he unscrewed the concealer tube, and absolutely went to town. He put on so much concealer that you were almost concerned.

“Mina did you hear that?” You asked in a breathless tone.

“Sure did.”

You were already in awe that the great Shinso Hitoshi was even watching your video, but the fact that he called you good looking? Your heart was practically leaping out of your chest as you watched with wide eyes. Your biggest YouTube crush had called you attractive. What a good day.

In your tutorial, you had finishing blending the concealer in and was moving onto baking your under eyes. You dipped your Beauty Blender into the loose powder and stamped it down underneath your eyes. “Now I’m going to let that bake, so I’m going to go ahead and do my eyeshadow right now!” Shinso gave a confused look and paused the video. He applied the powder somehow everywhere but under his eyes. It was honestly impressive how bad he was at this.

“I’m baking? What am I baking?” He furrowed his eyebrows, clearly very confused.

“For my eye look, I’m going to start with this light pink shade called, ‘Love’. How fitting. I’m going to swipe that into my crease and I’ll follow that up with this more hot pink that will go all over my lid. Then, I’m going to deepen my crease with this almost maroon shade and then I’ll cut my crease using the concealer we used earlier and this flat brush.” Shinso looked like you had just grown two heads in front of him. He had no idea what you were doing to your face.

You watched as he messily some hot pink shade onto his lid, rapidly blinking the whole time, not used to someone so close to his eye. He was not going to like tight-lining. He eventually attempted to cut the crease and looked absolutely dead when it was completely too much of his lid.

“I want to die.” He muttered while looking at the camera. His eyes had somehow lost even more life than what he began with, which was, not much.

“Here’s another question that’s coming from Kelsey! She asks: ‘Who do you think the hottest YouTuber is? I personally really like Bakugo Katsuki!’ Oh I’d definitely have to say Shinso Hitoshi! That man is illegally fine.” What did you just say? Your eyes went wide as you listened to yourself. You had completely forgotten what questions you answered in this video, and now Shinso Hitoshi knows that you think he’s hot. But you didn’t stop there.

“One hundred percent, anyone could throw down with me on this one. Shinso Hitoshi is the hottest YouTuber out there. He could curb stomp me, kill my family, and rob me of all of my belongings and I’d still say thank you.” Why did you ever say that. Mina was absolutely losing it on her side, unbelieving that those words had even made it past editing on your part. Why would you even keep that in the video. You wanted to die.

Shinso on the other hand looked very amused, letting out a chuckle of his own. “Didn’t know I was so popular. I’m honestly kind of flattered. But I wouldn’t curb stomp her. Can’t mess up that pretty face.” This was the end of your career. You’re never going back online ever again.

The you doing the tutorial had just begun applying loose glitter onto your lid. “So after applying this glitter base, I’m going to pat this glitter in. If you drag it, it’ll get absolutely everywhere since this glitter is super chunky. So, just lightly pat it in like this.” Shinso did as you told and still managed to have glitter cascading down, covering his black hoodie.

You had moved onto eyeliner and he looked like he was actually going to die, right then and there. He watched you tight-line your eyes and didn’t even attempt it. After creating a wing that looked like it could fly off of his face any moment, Shinso attempted to put a pair of false lashes on. Somehow, they were stuck to his eyelid, rather than where his lashes were. He followed you as you brushed the bake off. You were then moving onto contour, where he managed to make it look like he had rolled in dirt. Apparently, he had no idea where to put contour on his face so he ended up putting it far too high.

The step you were on now involved putting copious amounts of blush on when you answered your next question. “Alright and this one is from Jennie! ‘If you could date anyone, who would it be?’ I guess I hinted at this earlier, but Shinso Hitoshi all the way. I just want to like, hold his hand. I know, scandalous. But really, my thirst for that man is actually unquenchable.” You said with a straight face as you took a sip of water and then winked to the camera.

“Hey Mina, when I die in the next few minutes, can you make sure to clear my search history. Actually, just wipe my whole computer clean.” You sighed as you buried your face into your hands. This was awful. Out of all the tutorials you had on your channel, Shinso Hitoshi just had to pick the one where you basically confess your undying love for him. Mina simply laughed, promising absolutely nothing. Traitor.

On the other hand, Shinso was grinning. It was one of those grins. One that you knew would never let you live this down, and he doesn’t even know you personally. “Seems that I’ve got a fan. I’d love to hold hands, Y/N, you just have to let me know.” His voice drawled, deep and raspy. It would be hotter if his face didn’t look like someone shook up a bag of crushed makeup and threw the contents at him. To be honest, he really just looked like a big train wreck. But, it was still hot, nonetheless.

He did eventually finish the look, setting it all using far too much setting spray. But instead of holding his usual stoic, tired look, he looked like he was planning something. The corners of Shinso’s mouth were still turned up in a sly smirk, and you had a feeling that something was going to happen. You might as well die before you find out to save yourself the embarrassment.

“Well, I can’t say I enjoyed putting on the makeup, but I did enjoy watching Y/N talk about me. Y/N, if you’re watching me, send me a message and we can collab. Or maybe hold hands.” His mouth opened up and his killing grin hit you. This is it. This is where you die. You were internally screaming at the top of your lungs. God, you hated how hot he was even though he looked like Boo Boo The Fool.

“DID YOU JUST HEAR WHAT HE SAID?” Mina screamed out loud for you. Oh god, you were absolutely mortified.

“Well, that’ll do it for this one, if you liked watching me ruin my face, I have more awful videos for you to watch. And even if you didn’t, it’s too late because you’ve already given me ad revenue. If I don’t post my next video soon, safely assume that I’ve died. I might see you next time, bye.” Shinso said his usual outro and you slumped back onto your chair. You looked at Mina on your phone who was grinning ear to ear. Oh no.

“Message him.”

“Absolutely not I would rather die, right here, right now than talk to Shinso Hitoshi about how I confessed my undying thirst for him. So, that means I’m going to die. I want a granite headstone.” You groaned as you stared up at the ceiling.

“You don’t even have to say anything about that though! Anyways, you probably should talk to him. You could just say that you enjoyed his video and thank him for what basically was, a free shoutout. I think it’d be wrong if you didn’t message him at all.” Mina suggested, and well, she wasn’t wrong. It’d be rude to just ignore the fact that Shinso has put hard work and money into making this video. The least you could do was say a simple thank you.

You groaned as you sat up, grabbing your phone from where it was leaned against. “God, I hate when you’re right. I’ll message him though. I’m going to go ahead and hang up then because I still have another video I want to shoot.”

“Yes of course! But make sure to send me screenshots, I NEED to know how this goes down! I’ll talk to you later!” And with that, the FaceTime call was ended. Now you had to will yourself into messaging Shinso and making it seem normal. You would just have to completely ignore all of the moments you called him hot, and hope that he doesn’t bring them up too.

You opened up Instagram and searched up his handle. You were really going to do this. It was now or never, and if you backed out and never messaged him, Mina would never let you live it down and would probably end up messaging him herself. So to avoid embarrassment that would be even worse than what has already been done, you had to message him.

“Hi! I saw your latest video and I wanted to say thank you so much for featuring my video! It really means a lot. Also, I hope you bought an oil based makeup remover, because that stuff is hard to get off. Especially the glitter!” That was appropriate and calm, wasn’t it? You hit send and hoped that he would stay on topic and not mention the fact that you completely exposed yourself.

You sat down your phone and groaned. What if he thought that you were really creepy and was just leading you on to eventually public ally humiliate and ruin you, ending your career as you know it? That was probably a bit extreme, and rationally you knew he would never do such a thing, but you were paranoid.

As you were drowning in your sorrows, a notification popped up on your phone. It was him. He replied so fast that you were taken aback.

“hey thanks. i’m glad you’re not mad that i used your video without permission lol. and no, i didn’t buy one bc no one told me to. but i did get the makeup off with a lot of scrubbing. i was serious about wanting to collab. would you want to do that?” Your face was burning at this point. Collabing with Shinso sounding like an actual dream.

“Absolutely! I would love to! And ouch, is your skin okay? Too much exfoliating can really irritate the skin!”

“yes, i’m okay. i didn’t scrub too much skin off. and great. you live in LA right?? i do too. we should work out a date sometime to talk. we could even hold hands if you wanted to lol.” Oh god, he went a did it. You wanted to scream.

“Ahaha, yes let’s do that! And sorry about all of the rambling about uhh, you. It must’ve felt weird.” Should your casket be wood? A polished, dark oak wood sounded nice. You would look lovely in that casket after you died of sheer embarrassment. But would it look fine alongside a granite headstone? Maybe it should be marble.

“not at all. i’m very flattered. but letting you know, don’t expect me to curb stomp you. i don’t think i’m strong enough to do that. but we can definitely go on a date, and maybe your thirst will go away.” This time, you actually did scream, straight into your pillow. This is the end of you.

You screenshotted the conversation so far and sent it to Mina. You did promise to keep her updated.

She responded, not even a minute later, with far too many emojis. The winky face, the side-looking eyes, and of course, the cowboy. Sometimes, just sometimes, you really hated Mina. But not really.

“WTF DO I RESPOND TO THAT HE LITERALLY JUST INSINUATED THAT HE'S GOING TO DO,,,, STUFF.” You hurriedly typed to Mina. You could imagine her right now, cackling as you watched you panic.

“Just call him hot and catch him off guard LOL. Or say like ur thirst can never be quenched.” You were about to do it. There wasn’t anything else that you could think to say to him that was normal sounding, so maybe this would work? Should your flowers be lilies? Or perhaps daisies would work. Something nice to remember you by. You don’t want your death to be too sad.

“Unfortunately, I don’t think my thirst can go away. It’s pretty intense.” You typed something real ballsy out, as you went to hit ‘select all’ to delete it, somehow, you had sent it to him instead. Amazing! You were going to have a stroke!

“oh? well, we’ll have to see about that, huh? anyways, here’s my number: xxx-xxx-xxxx. we can talk about our date later. i have to film another video to make sure people know i’m not dead. talk to you later, doll.”

Ah, the nail in the coffin. You really were dead now. You didn’t even get to plan what you were going to write on your gravestone.

You copied his number and put it into your contacts. Even though you were incredibly embarrassed about all of this, you were definitely going to use that later. Not only to plan a collaboration.

Hi everyone,

While we’ve been chatting about Charlotte Tilbury I had to show you all the Iconic Palette which is a gorgeous eyeshadow palette featuring 12 glitter shadows. This eyeshadow palette is so colourful you can do many looks. What I love most about this palette is every row of 3 is a eyeshadow look in itself numbered down 1-3 to give you a step by step of what colours go with which. Of course this doesn’t stop anyone from mixing colours but it gives you some inspirations. The first row down is called Day Eyes, the second is Date Eyes, the third is Diva Eyes and the last is Disco Eyes.

In the makeup look I’ve posted above I’m wearing the Date Day row and I have to admit I have never felt so glam in all my life!!!! I was following a Charlotte tilbury tutorial and she does her eye looks completely backwards to how I would do it. So her palette has numbers for each row and counts down 1-3 so she started with the inner corner (1) then the shimmer on the eye lid(2) and then the matte colour in the crease to deepen the eye look (3). Whereas I would normally do it in the order of 3,2,1 so literally complete opposite. But doing it this way you can see my eyes look like they were professionally done and have much more demension to them.

I adore the colours in this palette and using the rows and number order I think I would be much more comfortable using the darker colours in this palette then I would normally be. I also love that this palette gives you a structure on how to do looks but still gives you enough colour selection to play around and complete your own. I love the pigment of these colours and how beautiful they look with one brush stroke, like it’s insane.

Now Charlotte Tilbury palettes aren’t the cheapest but if you’re looking for a palette where you get your money’s worth and also get a good colour variation to go with any look I would say this palette is the best mix. A lot of Charlotte Tilbury palettes range from pinks to nude shades whereas this palette gives you the perfect mixture of everything.

Love it or hate it, Selena's shoulder-length, curled-under lob was the talk of the AMAs. (I personally love it.) With the matte skin, matte brown eyeshadow and nude lips, it's all very '90s.

Finally, we ended the year on a high note with one of the prettiest looks I've ever seen on Taylor Swift, at the premiere of Cats. The combination of red lipstick, winged liner and an updo with bangs is very "her" (in the best possible way!).

A/N: this is my first time writing anything like this so i’m like shookth. huge thanks to the @smols-n-tols bc admin jinyoung helped me sososo very much with this fic. without her “gracefully shoved his tongue down my throat” might’ve actually been a line. Also this is kim donghan aka the loml, please support him lots when jbj debuts!

Genre: ,,,,,fluff? kinda? kinda steamy? idk, i’ll figure it out

Word Count: 2k words

Summary: Interning at FAVE Entertainment? Great! Being the lead stylist for JBJ? Awesome! Having to help one of the members with recreating an old picture? Well, that’s a different story…

Interning for FAVE Entertainment as a makeup artist and stylist was probably the best thing to have happened to you. You got to do Yezi’s eye makeup for her comeback, and you were even allowed to help coordinate IU’s outfits for her concerts. Being able to interact with such talented and amazing artists along with being constantly surrounded by hardworking, talented style coordinators was a real life dream come true. The company even gave you a little corner of the office where you kept your sewing machine and makeup bag. It was an uneventful afternoon in the office, so you busied yourself with looking at different makeup looks online and taking notes of which ones were doable for Fiestar’s next comeback. “Hey Y/N,” one of the fellow interns called out.

“Yes?” you swivelled around in your chair.

“Manager-nim wants to see you,” they said, and you nodded, picking up your notebook before heading towards your manager’s office.

“Manager-nim?” you called out as you peeked your head into his office. He was sitting at his desk and motioned for you to take the seat in front of him.

When you sat down, he spoke up, “Y/N, I’ve been looking at your work recently, and I’m quite proud to see your improvement.” You bowed at his compliment, letting a small smile slip past your lips. “Recently FAVE Entertainment has taken up a new boy group, you’ve heard of JBJ right?”

You nodded your head; you’ve been following news regarding the company closely since you’ve joined. “They’re a project group made up of trainees from Produce 101 if I’m not mistaken,” you replied.

“Well, Y/N, I’d like for you to be one of their main stylists,” your head shot up at his statement, “with supervision from your sunbaes of course, but after looking at some of your style compilations, I think you have what it takes to ensure the boys don’t suffer a fashion disaster.”

You looked at him in shock before shooting up out of your seat, “Thank you so much, sir. I won’t let you down!” You bowed before running out the door back to your desk; you had some work to do.

You stood on the set of JBJ’s photoshoot, working hastily on Kenta’s eye makeup. The man himself was quite talkative, so he asked you questions about yourself as you applied more eyeshadow. “So how’d you get to be a stylist? You look kinda young to be working,” he said, fluttering his eyes closed.

“I’m a ‘98 liner, so I guess I’m a bit young to be working? But I’m just an intern they picked up after seeing my YouTube channel, nothing special, ya know?”

He opened his eyes and looked at you in surprise, “Really? A beauty channel? What’s it called so I can subscribe?” You tried to dissuade him, but he was stubborn, so you gave way and gave him the name of your channel. “I’ll subscribe to it tonight when I get back to the dorms!” You finished his eye makeup and shoo’ed him away so you can work on the next member.

Donghan plopped himself into your chair and instantly closed his eyes before speaking, “I got so tired of waiting. Knowing how talkative Kenta-hyung can get, I’m going first next time,” he ended his sentence with a small little pout.

You laughed at his statement before tapping his lips with your fingers, “Don’t pout, it tenses up your face and makes it harder for me to do your makeup.” He peeked open one eye and stuck out his tongue at you before relaxing his face, finally allowing you to get to work.

“Okay everyone, the next concept for the photos will be iconic pictures of the boys,” the photographer said to all the stylists. You nodded along as the photographer went through the different pictures he wanted to replicate; you kept a giggle to yourself when you saw a picture of Taehyun scratching his stomach, and you almost let out a snort at a picture of a bespeckled Kenta fanboying his heart out at a Teen Top concert. However, you felt your mouth dry when the photographer switched to Donghan’s picture. You’ve never seen so many kiss marks on anyone in your entire life.

Timidly, you asked, “Who’s going to be applying the kiss marks to him?”

The photographer shrugged, “Well, I think that’s more of a stylist’s problem to solve? Hopefully you can find someone to do it soon.” You looked to the rest of your crew, and they averted their eyes.

“C’mon, unnie, why can’t you do it? You always comment on how cute he is!” you whined over lunch.

She plopped a grape into her mouth before replying, “Because, I have a boyfriend who would freak out if he found out I did something like that! And that’s the same with the rest of the team. According to my knowledge, you’re the only single one!”

You pouted at her, “But he’ll understand if it’s for work right?” She glared at you from over her water bottle. You threw your hands up in defeat.

“Why don’t you want to do it so badly? He’s the same age as you isn’t he? So it’s not like, creepy or anything,” she said as the two of you stood up to throw away your trash.

“Because, unnie, I’ve never actually, ya know,” your voice dropped to a whisper, “kissed anyone.”

She stared at you blankly before bursting out into laughter, “Well, it looks like you’re gonna have to do it soon, sweetheart. You’re lucky he’s cute too; my first kiss was with this-” her voice trailed off as you caught Donghan’s eyes focusing on you. A blush erupted across your face as you averted your gaze.

You nervously wrung your hands as you waited for Donghan to enter the room set aside for you to apply the kiss marks onto him. You replayed your unnie’s word before you entered the room, “Don’t feel awkward, just pretend like you’re kissing your mom on the cheek, but with more pressure, and instead of your mom, it’s an insanely attractive idol, okay? Good luck!” You leaned against the table that held all of your makeup, and then Donghan peeked his head into the room. You noticed that he was already dressed loose fitted dress shirt and black slacks; you gestured for him to sit down on the chair. “Um,” you tried to focus your gaze on his nose instead of his lips, “I’ll do your base makeup before I, um, apply the marks.” He just looked up at you through his eyelashes and hummed. You got to work, trying to calm down your nerves. Every now and then Donghan would tell you a little story about JBJ’s preparations for debut, and you’d smile and nod at the appropriate times, but on the inside, you were freaking out.

Soon enough you finished with his base makeup, so you grabbed the two lipsticks from your table, “Pink or red?”

He looked at you in confusion, “W-what?”

You moved the lipsticks closer to his face, willing your hands not to shake, “Do you want pink kisses or red kisses?”

You noted the way he shifted awkwardly in his seat and the blush that bloomed on his cheeks, “R-red, the photographer said it’d be, uh, sexier.” You placed the pink lipstick back onto the table before uncapping the red lipstick’s tube. Donghan’s eyes were trained onto you, and you noted the way he cleared his throat when you ran your tongue over your lips out of nerves. You turned your attention to the mirror, making sure you applied the lipstick perfectly, even puckering a little bit at the end. You then turned back to see Donghan staring at you in apprehension. You couldn’t help but laugh at his expression; he pouted, “Why are you laughing?”

You tried to keep your laughter under control before replying, “You look like a cornered pup. Why are you so scared, it’s not like this is the first time you’re letting someone do this to you.”

He crossed his arms over his chest, “Well, for your information, my friends made the kiss marks, and I went to an all boys’ school, so yes, I’m quite nervous because a female is kissing me today.” At the word “kiss,” your body stiffened.

“Ah yeah, I should probably start now, shouldn’t I? Before everyone gets impatient,” you said before moving towards him, “I’ll start putting them on your shirt first, if that’s okay with you?” He nodded and turned his head away from you. You grabbed the collar of his shirt and pressed a kiss there before kneeling down to place kisses on the front of his shirt. “I guess I’ll start placing them on your face first before working my way down, is that okay?” Donghan quickly nodded before shutting his eyes closed. You placed a kiss upon his temple before moving down to place a couple on his cheeks. However, as you placed a kiss on his neck, he let out a little groan. Instantly you jumped back with wide eyes, and Donghan looked back at you, equally as shocked.

“Um, I’m sorry, about that,” he trailed off, trying to fight back the reddening of his cheeks.

“Uh, no it’s fine, I’ll just keep going?” you didn’t know how to react, but you’d be lying to yourself if your heart didn’t flutter just a little bit at his groan. However, you noticed Donghan’s stance in his seat; his hands were practically imprinted into the arms of his chair. “Donghan, are you okay?” you asked tentatively, resting a hand on his shoulder.

He placed his hand over yours before looking up at you, “Actually, I’m not that okay because I really want to kiss you right now, so I’m gonna ask this. Can I kiss you right now?” You looked at him in shock, but you couldn’t deny the little voice in the back of your head screaming “yes,” especially with Donghan looking the way he did right now.

With a small voice, you answered, “Yes, you can kiss me.”

With your consent, Donghan stood up from his chair and backed you into the table. Gripping your waist, he lifted you up onto the table before placing himself between your legs and wrapping his arms around your waist. Then, he leaned down and caught your lips with his. At first, you stayed frozen, unsure exactly how you were supposed to do this, but after a beat, you figured it out. Your eyes fluttered shut and you moved your lips against Donghan’s as you slowly trailed your hands up to tangle your fingers into his hair. Right as you pulled lightly on his hair, he softly bit down on your lower lip, causing you let out a gasp. At that sound, you felt Donghan smile against your lips. His hands rubbed circles into your waist before he pulled himself away from you. However you realized something shift in Donghan’s eyes as he stared down at you, and next thing you know, his lips are back on yours, harsher, more urgent than before. His hands ran up and down your sides as he pulled you closer to him. Your legs found them wrapped around him, and your hands found purchase tangled in his hair. Donghan quickly broke away from the kiss, and you let out a whimper at the lack of contact. His hands rested on your waist, “Sorry, Y/N, if we continued, I don’t think I would be able to stop.” You leaned forward to press a kiss against his neck before trailing them down his chest.

Breathlessly, you said, “It’s okay, Donghan, I’m not scared,” and with those words he was back on you, this time his hands found themselves tangled in your hair. His tongue swiped against your bottom lip, begging for entrance. You quickly obliged, and you found yourself being entangled in a game of push and pull with him; the both of you fighting for dominance. Just as you were about to move your lips towards his neck, a knock interrupted you. Quickly, Donghan moved away from you and settled himself back into the chair as you hopped off of the table, fixing your hair and clothes before grabbing a random makeup brush.

Then, your unnie stuck her head into the room, “It looks like you’re done with Donghan’s makeup, Y/N,” you nodded, “Donghan, you’re up for the camera.”

He flashed her a smile, “I’ll be right out, Noona!” She shut the door, leaving the two of you alone again. You let out a sigh of relief. Donghan got out of his seat and straightened his shirt, getting ready for his pictures. You did a couple last minute fix-ups before Donghan grabbed your wrist and swooping down for another kiss. Just as quickly as it started, Donghan pulled away from you before shooting you a full-blown grin. He leaned forward and whispered into your ear, “This isn’t the end, Y/N,” and with those words, he walked out the door.

Hi dolls. Hope you are having a great day. Today it’s not as cold as it has been so hopefully my pain level starts to come down. Right now I’m at a 7. I finally slept and have a few spoons left over from my morning responsibilities. Well let me share my face of the day and review of Makeup Geek Cosmetics.

Face of the Day ….

Today I use the Makeup Geek palette I created. I was excited for this order to get to me. Makeup Geek does not have primer, foundation, concealer, setting powders , mascara, or brow products so I had to pull those from my stash for these items.

Base: For my primer I chose It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer ($49 on It’s website), Concealer today is Too Faced Born This Way Concealer ($28 at Ulta) in the color Light Medium,Foundation is Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector with broad spectrum spf 20 ($36 at Ulta and on Urban Decay’s website) in the color Medium Light, I set my eyes with my ELF Smooth and Set ($4 on ELF’s website) and my face with Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder ($39 at Sephora), I bronzed my face with a mix of Makeup Geek bronzer ($14.99 on Makeup Geek’s website) and their contour pan ($9.99 on sale for 3.99 on their website) in the color Complicated.

Eyes: I primed my lids with my Tarte Shape Tape ($27 but on sale for $19 at Ulta) in the color Light Medium Honey, I created a 9 pan palette from Makeup Geek for 57.99 total which includes the z palette, each eyeshadow costs $6.00…. The color I set my Shape Tape with is Peach Smoothie and I also used this color as my transition shade by deepening the transition with extra layers of Peach Smoothie, as my crease color I chose Pumpkin’, I used Dark Roast in my outer V and on the out 1/3 of my lid, I picked I’m Peachless for the remaining 2/3 of my lid and So Pale as my brow bone highlight, and then I used Shimma Shimma on my inner corner highlight, on my lower lash line I used Pumpkin’ and Dark Roast, For mascara I used The Balm What’s Your Type? ($19 on the Balm website), for eyeliner I chose Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($22 at Ulta) in the color Intense Black, in the lower water line I used NYX Faux Whites ($8 at Ulta) in the color Linen, for my eyebrows I really liked the look I got with yesterday’s product so again I used the ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil ($5 on ELF’s website) in deep brown paired with ELF Wow Brow ($4 on ELF’s webstie) in the color Deep Brown.

Cheeks and Lips: My highlighter today is Makeup Geek Midnight Sun ($14.99 on the Makeup Geek website) and my bush is their single blush pans ($9.99 on the Makeup Geek website) in the color Heart Throb, Lip Liner I didn’t purchase because I forget, so I used Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner ($18 at Sephora and the Kat Von D website) in the color Lolita II and my lipstick is Makeup Geek Iconic Lipstick ($14.99 on the Makeup Geek website) in the color Naive.

The Review …

I am not sure how I feel about the Primer… it gives a white cast to the skin that doesn’t go away and causes flash back with flash photography, but it does blur the pores… not sure if it’s worth the $49 price tag when there are better primers on the market way cheaper. The Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid foundation is one of my all time favorite foundations. It goes on like a bb cream but had way better coverage. There are 6 shades in the rang, 3 for darker skin. It isn’t the type of foundation that drys down so you do need to set this one with powder. I have repurchased this one 4 times since it came out and will continue to repurchase it as long as Urban Decay continues to sell it. As for the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer, which comes in 12 shades (3 for deeper skin), I don’t really have an opinion of it. It’s just ok for me. I remember when it first came out everyone was head over heels for it, but as many times as I have tried it, it just doesn’t speak to me in anyway, there are certainly better concealers on the market.

Let’s start with the Highlighter and Bronzer. Midnight Sun Highlighter is a Golden Tan with a Peach reflect. It goes on so powerfully and it’s a smooth highlighter, not at all chalky like some highlights can be. I liked this highlighter until around 4 pm when I looked in the mirror. The color had vanished and all that was left behind was glitter… I ended up having to reapply it to refresh my makeup and normally I don’t have this problem. Now there could be a number of reasons the highlight diapered, anything from the foundation I am wearing to the fact that my hair is down, so I wont give my final thoughts on this one yet until I’ve tried it out a few more time, but what I will say is it is a beautiful color and makes the cheek bone glow perfectly. The bornzer I chose is too light. I didn’t notice that it was for fair skin so it took 3 applications to get coverage for me, now with that being said, this bronzer is beautiful on the skin. It’s a peach tan bronzer that is a bit chalky but it buffs out wonderfully. I will be ordering the next color up when I place my next Makeup Geek order. I did use the Contour powder in the color Complicated to deepen my bronze today. It is a red toned tan and it is smooth and blends into the skin well, even over the dry patch I have on my forehead today. As for blush, I made a mistake and ordered 3 of the same shade …. I am not mad at that at all because the color I picked is beautiful …. I purchased Heart Throb. I felt that this color is a true coral but the makeup Geek website bills it as a salmon brown with a matte finish. best suited for fair skin tones, however this color showed up on my light medium skin tone in 1 pass. These blushes are amazing they aren’t silky but they aren’t chalky either. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner is pretty good, a little difficult to apply at first, I tried to do a thin line and ended up with a thicker than I wanted line. This eyeliner comes in 8 colors and I believe it is definitely worth the price. I may not repurchase this one as there are other liquid liners that I like a little bit more. I am really enjoying the combo of the pencil and wow brow from ELF … I am most definitely repurchasing both these products and dare I say they are loved more than the brow powder I have been using for the past 2 years. The Balm mascara is starting to sneak it’s self into my heart. I love the way it looks, I still love my Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black, I would say this is my 2nd favorite mascara.

Now on to the Makeup Geek Review:

The Iconic Lipsticks are impressive, not sticky, highly pigmented and they don’t bleed into my fine lines in the lips. I again chose the wrong color … it was too pale on my lips so I had to completely fill in my lips with Lolita II from Kat Von D before I could make Naive work for me. The Iconic line only comes it 7 colors and I really wish there was a coral color in the line or a pinky nude. They are comfortable on the lips and they stay put on the lips with no corner of the mouth transfer. They aren’t long lasting by any means, I had to reapply at least 2 before I switched to their Show Stopper Creme Stain ($11.99 on the Makeup Geek website). Can we talk about these creme stains!! At first I thought it was a liquid lipstick and was fully prepared to tell you I hate them because it felt too dry and uncomfortable. That is because I applied a thick layer to build up the color … when I looked on the website and realized that it was a stain I took it off and reapplied a thin even layer and I am in love now!!! My lips feel like skin not dry and cracked. This stain doesn’t transfer and doesn’t feather or bleed into the fine lines. The color I have is called Jitterbug, it’s a high impact true coral. Out of the two lip products I think I will be purchasing more of the creme stains. Only because I don’t like having to reapply my lip product over and over.

On to the eye shadow palette I created.

Makeup Geek offers 3 empty palettes to choose from, The travel Vault ($12.99) that can hold 9 shadows (or a combo of shadows and blushes), The Mega Vault ($24.99) that can hold 28 shadows (or a combo of shadows and blushes), and The Empty 9 Well Palette ($11.99).

What I have is the empty 9 well palette and the colors I chose are: Shimma Shima, a pale peachy flesh tone with a silver reflect. So Pale, a light vanilla matte. Rapunzel, a pale peach with gold reflect. Sand Dollar, a pale grey matte, Peach Smoothie, a true peach matte. Pumpkin’, a coral-orange hybrid matte. I’m Peachless, a pale peach with pink reflect. Tuscan Sun, a dusty coral pink matte. And finally Dark Roast, a dark true brown matte. The pigmentation on these shadows is crazy!! Super pigmented. The mattes are a bit chalky but blend well and the shimmers are buttery smooth.

My final thoughts on the Makeup Geek line ….

I am in love with the Makeup Geek brand. The quality of these products is insane! The prices are on par with some of the other smaller brands and the quality of the packaging is in my opinion better than some of the big brands out there. I will definitely be purchasing more products from Makeup Geek.
