if an anarchist society were to be genuinely established i think not only would its people build a state within the year but the state would likely also be more oppressive than the state prior to anarchy, specifically in ways to compensate for the most catastrophic failures that occurred in the anarchist tenure. lets say the anarchist society falls from poor resource management. the people are hungry because food from rural areas cant easily and intactly reach suburbia and cities, so they "steal" to survive, but everyone needs to eat so everyone "steals" and has to protect their belongings from being "stolen." this reintroduces the concept of crime, and to prevent crime, a state is created and the state is carceral.

to avoid this we should just establish a new state from the get-go

According to the notice, “The concept of the photobook expressing the “Time Difference” between the day and night, shows how a human becomes vulnerable to the sunlight (Day) the moment he turns into a vampire but also how he becomes a complete vampire in a pitch black darkness (Night) with his inner self expressing hunger and thirst for power unlike his all the more attractive and beautiful appearance.”

At the start of the Concept Film, you can see the painting Horse with a saddle by Abraham van Calraet behind Jung Kook. It belongs to this set that was also used in the MV “Ghost” by Dreamnote and in an Instagram post from Kwak Dongyeon.

The exterior scenes were filmed at Byukchoji Gardens (cr. btsmap1)

According to the notice, “This photobook created based on Jimin’s own ideas, unveils different moods Jimin creates from the same costumes, the strength Jimin has discovered in himself, the meaning of light in his confusing consciousness, the moment Jimin’s inner self and persona finally met and his chaotic and finally, an immature journey to finding the true “me”.”

Jimin explained that the theme of the book is persona and that his white outfit aims to show his raw self.

On the “Color ; Freedom” set, you can spot an Apollo Belvedere head. One already appeared during the “Blood, Sweat & tears” performance at M Countdown on the 13th of October 2016 (so Jimin’s birthday).

On the “Black ; Come face to face” set, it’s a Diana of Versailles bust that was broken and reassembled with the kintsugi technique (an unbroken one was seen in the WINGS Short Film #7 AWAKE).

For the “White ; Intactly” part, Jimin and all the mannequins wear masks reminding of the Jackalope, a mythical jackrabbit with antelope horns.

Every time, Jimin has several tattoos on his arms and torso:

This book was not released for the group’s birthday (namely June 13) but on the 11th of January 2023 so the 3500th day since BTS debuted.

According to the notice, “this photo-folio is a quintessentially BTS collection that brings together the seven members’ ideas and catalogs their memories together as a group. This photo-folio is a visualization of the past and the present of BTS!”

They filmed the K-retro Sports Day part at the now closed 지평초등학교-일신분교장터 (Jipyeong Elementary School-Ilshin Branch Market, it seems to have been renovated to be turned into a camping site and a filming location).

Here’s a translation of what’s written on the blackboard. The boys added things such as “RM”, “BTS”, “ARMY”, “I love you” and “BTS ♡ ARMY”:

The Self Camera theme slightly reminds of the VCRs for 花樣年華 on Stage: Epilogue while the K-retro Sports Day theme is similar to the concept they had for the 2017 Season’s Greetings.As for the part in the photobooth, a similar scene happens in “RUN” but the hat and scarf they wear is actually a nod to what Jin, j-hope and V wore during the 3rd muster while they performed chipmunk versions of their songs.

‘Duh’

And I was spacing out, again. This was the second time after I entered the train. Looking for the empty seat to have an adequate place bounced my thoughts passed the window, which is unworkable at this hour. Even the clock said it was late to go home to have dinner with warm chocolate, yet the train is still full, and it’s always full with people running catching their breath after long day getting yelled by their boss, or maybe running here and there for errand, or maybe back from their dates, or maybe in hurry to get to one of their friend’s apartment whose got dumped from theirs toxic relationship this morning, after one single call to give them not-so-solitude amenity.

‘I miss him’

Not again, the weekend is near the thanksgiving is just around the term, i can meet him there, i can call him all night after all the paper on my desk vanish away. 

‘Oh God, the paper’

Why are all the good things in my head instantly ruined by one horrible word. 

‘I’m tired’

One stop and I’ll get to ride my bike straight to home. This week was the most detestable week I had after these three month. Well, I am still amazed how this ‘Nala’ girl still has the energy to stand among the crowd every morning and night with the same line and same information voice and same song on the playlist. 

‘Why are You letting me taste the awful phase of adulthood, God? Can I just back in times-’

I don't like it, okay? I don't like how everything is changing. The older I get, the more I realize that, there are all these things that link me to the past and each time, things have shifted, and I have to deal with that shift. And I know I'm supposed to be able to deal with that, but I'm not sure I can deal with that.

Here again, I almost jumped into the rabbit hole of a stranger's board back when it’s only two meters away to get myself on my bike but again and will always a lot of again’s to embarrassed my proprium publicly, and here I have to buck up, put on a kind face, and get on with it.

It’s nice to hear you laugh rather than playing the same sad songs like a never ending scary Merry go round on horror tales. Allied to what you said to me before, you can listen to every sad song, and cry every single tear from your eyes, but even those might not be enough. Because at some point you get tired of the same songs and you run out of tears.You can’t get over it. They ease the pain but they don’t take it away. Sometimes the only way is only through it.

Yes it does ease the pain and yes but it don’t take it away, at least I endured it 

“Any things you want to share with me?”

You broke the silence together with the rain tickling the windows of your car.

There’s a space left hanging in the air, three seconds of me awkwardly choosing the right form.

I honestly try to process what is inside my head and what you recently said to me so I just nod to give a sign of full attention and let you continue your sentence.

“I know you have a lot of big, loud contemplations in your head, on how things should be, but if your mind is quiet, sometimes the best answer to a problem is- makes itself heard”

I rounded my eyes as signs drowned at confusement at his word.

“Okay, this is me saying to sometimes we just need to go with the flow”

I chuckled, I know he’s being serious and I know exactly what he’s trying to say is about to comfort me as well as to call out the strongest version of me. The realistic man with the warmest heart, he looks so simple when facing matters but, but he’s mind is generously wide, how could it happen in one body?

“Do not cringed Nala”

“I am not? I sit collectively paying one hundred thousand attention to your golden wise”

We snickered then burst out at laughter, you are weird, we are weird. This always like this, long sober conversation will end with one stiff joke. And follows with-

Discipline is questionable. Can this community be ready for the change?

Hazard Identification

Barangay San Dionisio had experienced calamities such as typhoon, earthquake and fire. It had made a huge impact to various factors in the barangay such as housing and stock of resources. Yet, the most dangerous hazard barangay San Dionisio have experienced is the fire. Almost every year, there will be dozens of fire hazards — may it be from an establishment or a house, its scare is as twice as the scare in typhoons happening every month.

Through these reports, the barangay officials, together with the DRRM Parañaque unit, they wanted to ensure that their response to emergencies are in tip-top condition. Provided with technological resources, warnings will be sent throughout the community with the use of local news. Furthermore, the barangay ensures that all devices, such as cellphones, telephones, walkie-talkies and radios, are ready to use whenever, wherever. Usually, officials depend on the warnings given by the respective departments such as PAGASA & PHIVOLCS, in order to know when to suspend classes.

Vulnerability, Elements & People at Risk Assessment

Calamities have always affected the livelihood of the people and it made a great impact to everyone no matter what social status they have, where it usually affects their businesses. What’s more unfortunate with calamities is that it also endangers life.

I asked ate Rose which place she considers to have the most number of hazards in terms of geographical location. With no hesitation, she exclaimed that Tacloban is the place to be; its area is low and also near the ocean, which can be prone to tsunamis. Meanwhile, in the context of barangay San Dionisio, ate “Rose” believed that the informal settlers of the barangay will be more prone to hazards, since their houses are not that intactly built and the place is also too crowded to even have the proper exit. That is why the barangay ensured that everyone in the barangay will have an easier access to safety.

“Sa barangay naman, prinovide na namin yung evacuation centers para sa lahat hindi lang doon sa squatters, lalo na doon sa mga madalas binabaha o mga nasusunugan. Open naman yun sa lahat, kahit walang disaster pwede pa rin nilang magamit.”

Yet, calamities are not the only problem barangay San Dionisio is experiencing. For years, they have tried to restore better streets and safety procedures for the people, but it is the community’s own irresponsibility who blocks the development of the barangay.

“Sa totoo lang ah, ang titigas kasi ng ulo nung iba. Pinaka-cause na talaga nung madalas na pagbaha dito ay yung pagtapon ng basura kung saan-saan eh. Basta walang makitang basurahan o basta tamad lang talaga, ayun kung saan-saan na itatapon.”

This is where the barangay officials are having a hard time — teaching proper waste disposal.

Capacity & Disaster Management Assessment

In order to help the barangay develop in a much more disciplined community, the officials conduct seminars regarding proper waste disposal, yet this may not be enough.

With regards to other calamities, as ate Rose have said, everything is prepared for the people of San Dionisio. There are available resources for the community in case of emergencies.

“Meron kaming mga transportation katulad ng boat, ambulance — name it, kompleto ang barangay niyan. Kung kumulang man, andiyan naman yung pinaka-office ng DRRM Parañaque at meron din tayong mga volunteers katulad ng Red Cross Parañaque. Kaya wala dapat alalahanin yung mga tao.”

Ate Rose exclaimed that she is happy with the efforts of the DRRM staff of Parañaque (noting Dr. Teodoro Gonzales, DRRM-Parañaque Head), yet she is still looking for solutions to help her barangay be in their best in managing their wastes.

Conclusion

With this, I have seen how disaster-ready barangay San Dionisio can be. They have numerous evacuation centers, transportation vehicles, first aids & employees that are ready to respond in case of emergencies.

Yet, the discipline of this community can be tricky, and this is where my mission begins as a part of this community — create a solution that will not hinder the development of barangay San Dionisio and to not endanger the lives of the people.

Keegan Xavi in NYC, Day #6

Wow! When I walk around I try to find the vocabulary to describe my experiences when I journal and I’m falling short. I keep feeling like everything is a dream in the sense that whatever activity I’m doing, I’m fully present in the moment and the future activity is like a grey formless fog that doesn’t become real until I enter that space. It’s like a dream, where one second you’re doing one thing and the next, an entirely different world of possibilities opens up, like standing in the center of a thousand doors of potential reality. There are so many worlds in NY, worlds I would have no way of knowing about without this experience. 

I’ve been moved my so many things... first of all, Springtime in NY... the greyness of the sky and buildings make the colors of life pop out - the buds on trees, the thousands of tulips I’ve seen everywhere, all so vibrant and colorful. But there are other worlds... I learned so much at Cooper Union about the composer Florence B. Price.. and through her I learned about Marian Andersen and her infamous performance at Lincoln Memorial in 1939. How have I lived so long without knowing about these women?? But I was also blown away by the man giving the lecture about her and the audience interaction. Turns out I was in a theater full of music students and by the end the lecturer had us singing gospel songs together. Who knew I was going to be doing that, but like a dream.. I just accepted it.

Oh and the architecture! I did not expect to enjoy my walking tour of the Wall Street area as much as I did. But to stand at the bottom of these immense buildings with ornate carvings and to even contemplate the ginormous slabs of marble composing the buildings.... how? Humans can be so terrible to one another, yet at times we are so beautiful and genius. NY has a gradation in the range of human genius and human cruelty - which you see side by side everyday. 

At the Interference archives, it was so great to meet Jen - she’s just a stellar human being. But surrounded by evidence of decades of resistance, it was a celebration of the strength of humanity in the face of cruelty. I walked through Borough Park and it was, once again, a whole other Universe I had never known anything about. The men acted like I was invisible, the women pushing their baby carriages stared at me as an obvious outsider. (I also noticed men pushing carriages too and the community love for children was obvious). I admire and am a little jealous that this neighborhood has been able to preserve their Jewish culture and heritage so intactly, still passing it on down the lines. Black folks in America  have lost so much by not being able to pass down our authentic cultural heritages, the language, the food, the ceremonies and the rituals that were all lost or fragmented because of the slave trade. Of course, our culture evolved and changed but i do wish we retained our intact mother cultures.

so the conceit of zukofsky’s (rather, the zukofskys, since they were collobarations between Celia and Louis) weird translations of catullus is almost like oulipo---they try to maintain the sense, but more than that they try to mirror the sound and rhythm of the originals as intactly as possible. so whether or not they’re successful as poems (I think a number of them are), there’s still something interesting just in the sense that against the standard banal “you can’t translate poetry, it sounds different in the original” as far as I know zukofsky’s the only person I know who responded to that with “bet”

so here’s Catullus 112:

and here’s the Zukofskys:

          The second the door to the shared apartment shut behind him, nick threw his keys on its usual resting space— the little wooden table right beside the entrance. his backpack quickly found its way to the floor, the weight of his notebooks and the new music theory book he’d just gotten from the library making a loud thump as it hit the floor. assuming no one was home due the lack of immediate nagging at him already leaving things around or making noises, the guy walked towards the kitchen area while humming to the beirut song he was listening to on his way home and opened the fridge, expecting the slices of his leftover pizzas to be waiting for him intactly as he left them a few hours before. after a couple seconds of search and failure, nikora raised an eyebrow as a sudden realization hit him. somebody ate his damn pizza. with a sigh, he glanced around the appliance before finding a wrapped delicious-looking sandwich with a DO NOT EAT scribbled on the folder. nick wondered for a second or two — as to say he had a moment to analyze the possible consequences of his next act — but he knew his mind was already made on eating the piece of heaven on his hand. “ anybody home? ” he asked just loud enough so that anyone could’ve heard him from the second floor. not hearing any response — and, to be fair, not waiting to hear one, as well — nick unwrapped the sandwich and took a bite after a small shrug from his broad shoulders. just then realizing the more than familiar pair of eyes watching him from across the room, the male let out a guilty grin as he chewed and swallowed most of the food he had just bitten.
