Exhibition 2.

Yono Ono's Refugee Boat (Add Colour) is an interactivespace, on opening would be filled up with a singular boat in a white space. The public is then invited to draw and paint using blue and white paint markers provided to paint and draw over the walls, boat and oars. This changes the calm of the once plain white space to chaos. When you first glance at the space it is noticable that the room is filled with blue but it is not notices as the chaos until you take a closer look, with writen messages, phrases, drawings and notes.

Refurbishing the Auckland Domain Wintergardens: Conclusion

With a visit to the Wintergardens, it appears to be a very tranquil and calming space. There are not many visitors when I go, and although I enjoy walking through the corridors and having a picnic lunch with my kids, the glasshouses are kind of boring. And after some research on the history of the place, it becomes more restrictive and almost demeaning to me how the site was taken from Maori (who used the land for food and community) and turned into a very British space just for walking and viewing - and only for the select few to enjoy.

After looking at the differences in our society from the early 1900s to 2018, it is clear things have changed. The people are more diverse and multicultural, more inclusive and freer to mingle with each other. We have more physical freedom in the way we dress and how we can act in public. We have some way to go before everyone is treated as an equal, but we have come a long way.

I want people to come to the Wintergardens to see and feel the change that has happened in our society over the last hundred years. The screens I have designed are an effective visual and physical way to highlight how society has changed since the original glasshouses and brick corridors were built. You can still see and feel the serenity and Britishness of the original design, but it is obvious that times have changed when you walk amongst the metal screens. There is a sense of transparency with the star cutouts in the more modern CNC cut steel. The movement of the screens has modern engineering with the tracks and wheels in the ground. 

I imagine how the space will be used by so many different people. They will be attracted to visit because of the interactivity of the space. The screens can be used to create private spaces, new corridors, mazes and places to play. The Wintergardens are refurbished as Freedom: The Next Generation.

It was a night to remember as top motion picture, television studio and manufacturer executives, city luminaries, as well as special invited guestswere treated to the opening of Video & Audio Center’s long-awaited flagship Technology Superstore in the $1.4 billion dollar NEWLY-renovated Westfield Century City Mall. Penthouse....4 Bedrooms!! It was challenge to design this house due to small bedrooms, so we used hidden beds, foldable study tables. Storage was another concern of client, thats why we added additional storage in Master Bedroom tv feature wall and cabinet.
