This is what Hegel’s Cunning of Reason is about: human rights were “really meant” to be accepted only by white men of property, but their universal form was their truth. I have a very specific memory of sitting in a junior kindergarten class and suddenly becoming aware of my own consciousness and I immediately began to mentally recite every fact I knew about my life starting with my full name and birthday

ahh, you didn't send one before, but i appreciate the ask now!

so, i tried to find a normal answer for this. i know that love languages hold no real water, but i'm not really one for physical gifts? like i don't refuse gifts, but i prefer smaller gifts, like pins and flowers and such

the not normal answer is i like interpellation, that's my favorite gift. i like being reduced to a concrete object, and i like the idea that i exist as some list of qualities in someone's head. i really like when a gift that i get tells me what traits and tropes i am to them. hell, i love just being told "you are X to me" and it be some arbitrary assertion

like, in my old church, we had this thing called "encounter" where a small group of the church leadership would get prophecies for people? and basically it was them coming up with cold reads on people, always with some positive spin. i got about a dozen prophecies, and i cherish them all. that, and any sort of tarot or horoscope, i keep every reading i've been given in a notebook

an ex of mine still gifts me song recommendations. they're nothing like the things i actually want to listen to, but the idea that i'm still being seen by them in other things is nice to me

i got gifted pineapple cookies once, from a friend who told me i "had a pineapple spirit". i was told i was orange by an ex-mutual, and that became a whole thing for me. i was gifted a purple d20 because i 'seemed like the kind of person who should have one', being gifted candles because 'this smell is you', being gifted flowers because 'you look like these', aughhhh

does this mean i have identity issues? probably. who doesn't?

one thing about that record is that literally nothing on it sounds romantic to me in the remotest. my ass is not climbing that tree with a wild berry punk or whatever.. even at that age! but i love when she says honey
