It wasn’t uncommon for them to fall asleep like that. Both putting the children to sleep in their rooms. Getting ready for bed themselves but ending up reading through most of a book before they even dared to shut their eyes. Cuddled up together for warmth. Even though the fire place to the left of their bed provided enough heat for them both. 

And it never failed that Leo would fall asleep sitting up, head against the backboard with his own book off to the side. Arm wrapped over top of his queen. Robin had her head in his lap, her own book lost somewhere on the bed.

They would both complain in the morning that their necks and backs hurt due to the terrible positions they had fallen asleep in. But at least it kept them close together throughout the night.

“Robin,” The Queen-Consort greeted the other with a smile, happy to have a break from worrisome thoughts as she gestured for her to have a seat. She had invited the mage to join her for tea in the courtyard this morning. Arcane and divine magic were like two sides of the same coin, but she knew little about the other end. She was hoping Robin would indulge her questions so that she may learn more. “Thank you for taking time out of your day to visit me. Have you been well?”

Nuzzles her nose so deeply into Leo's neck. They've both been so busy lately, and she has missed how the icy aura of his skin refreshes the smoldering ash of her own. For even a brief moment, she lingers in her rightful place at her husband's side, and can take a single breath of relief filled with his flowery scent.

He’d been DROWNING in paperwork. So was the life of a king. New proposals being placed before him with each passing day. Letters from different kingdoms and regions - mainly Hoshido. It was as if it never ended! The only solace Leo had was that his wife shared some of his burden. After all, Robin was a bright woman and did just as well (if not better) at running a kingdom as he did.

But that day he’d asked her to do something simple. Such as attend court and listen to the complaints of a few nobles and citizens. All right, not THAT simple. That could be very tedious. But at least Robin hadn’t had the urge to fall asleep throughout the day as Leo did. Treaties and proposals did not compare to a good book.

“Did you have fun?”

The king chuckled as his wife pulled up a chair and nuzzled against him. Her skin was so warm against his own. Almost enough to take away the cold that his own skin radiated.

Eventually, Leo set down his papers. Eyes falling onto the queen at this side. Slowly taking Robin’s hands into his own.

“Care you tell me what the complaints were today? Or should we save that for later? I am rather content staying like this for a few moments longer.”

Robin won't offer him the chance to gloat or give her sassy looks in person, no, she has too much to do today to be waylayed. Still, she offers what affection she does hold for Gangrel in the form of a fresh new journal. Blank pages beg to be filled with the little scribbles she's found he likes to make. They're bound in Plegian leather and decorated with gold filigree along the cover and spine. ♡

The trickster looked the book front to back, inside and out.

This was…He felt…This was really nice??

For a solid minute, Gangrel didn’t knew what to say to this gesture but…

Well, at least she wasn’t overreacting (much), which was a good start, at the very least. He felt a bit more relaxed in the face of that, and nodded slowly as he quickly formed a response.  “Well, you already know her, which I’m sure doesn’t surprise you. She’s been one of my closest friends pretty much since almost as soon as I arrived here in this timeline...and I’m willing to bet that tells you almost everything right there, doesn’t it?” It wouldn’t be hard for her to put two-and-two together from that.

“I’m not gonna make any huge gesture out of trying to express my feelings to her though. I mean, I guess the scene will be a pretty romantic one all things considered, but no mountains of bouquets or anything over-the-top like that. I think simple is the way to go...both because it would suit her better and because it feels a lot more earnest and heartfelt that way. I’m just....a little nervous for obvious reasons.”

it is one reason ngl. another is because he is the first(?) part protag so his interactions ended with his ‘marriage’? maybe? it is a way to give both avatar and lucina chance to have supports as well cuz I think chrom, lucina then avatar turns in each segment if I was not wrong.

but yes. chrom shall suffer. basically sulking around because no one wanna talk to me boho I don't bite. but in this house we are still proud of lissa.

Robin knows Lenora now has an entire family to keep her busy for Valentine's Day. Long gone are their remote streaming galentine nights of the past (at least on the day of). However, her bestie would find a sweet and sassy card awaiting her in the mail containing a Starbucks gift card. (For that night or perhaps the next morning, assuming a distinct lack of sleep --).
