The Dread #Dormammu faces the unbeatable #SquirrelGirl in a #HeroClix battle from earlier this evening! For tonight's event, everyone had to bring a theme team with either a Dr Strange or a Dormammu on it (not both) since our venue just had the Dormammu OP a couple weeks back. My opponent in round two was the only one of seven players who brought the beautiful new colossal, on a Mystical team with a couple World's Finest generics for support. Much obliged for his kindness in letting me photograph it! The 2015 (single-base) Dormammu LE and the ADW nu-Duo with Loki were also represented in the field—dang, I should have arranged a group shot! It's been too long since I've gotten to actually play this game, and I had a lot of fun! I played out of my tray of 2017 Marvel Clix, which was the last thing I organized before my recent move threw the rest of my Clix collection into disarray (and my life, hence this feed evaporating—sorry about that!). I ended up going 2-1. I'll try to post a team photo of my motley Avengers crew tomorrow, but Squirrel Girl was totally the MVP. She armored up and bit Dormammu on the toe something fierce! Then her squirrels nibbled the Witch to death after #IronRick force-blasted the Apprentice into a wall for K.O. I don't think I've had the chance to play her before tonight and she was just a blast. Here's my #Avengers #HeroClix force from Thursday—starring #SquirrelGirl! The force had to include a #DrStrange or Dormammu figure, so I pulled out my #DrStrangeEarthsGuardian from #AvengersDefendersWar and added a motley assortment of Avengers-keyword figures from ADW, #WhatIf, and #DeadpoolandXForce that hadn't seen much or any play time yet: #BlackPanther (Shifting Focus), #IronRick (#RickJones in an old Iron Man suit), and #NicoMinoru of the #Runaways. Nico was the only one who didn't work at least as well as I thought she would—this is the What If starter set version at her 50-point line. The 18 Defend helped a lot (especially for Squirrel Girl and the squirrel tokens), and it was nice to have a second prob, but I think she was one-shotted in all three games. She's just not as good as the 75pt main set version at either her 50 or 100pt lines... My guess is they put her in that starter along with the five characters that got the most excessive sculpt re-use in that set (Spider-Man, Iron Man, Punisher, Daredevil, and Thor) because they wanted to do a new 616 version to give the Avengers keyword to represent her time on A-Force. If only WizKids were as liberal with the Justice League keyword (instead of splitting it into "of America," "International," etc) as they are with Avengers! Dang near every good-guy character in Marvel has that one—not that I'm complaining, since it makes possible wacky assemblages like this.
