The sound of heavy metallic dragging and clanking in the wake of her footsteps is unsettling. Pepper tries not to focus on the disturbing image of the suit and what it's currently doing to Tony's anatomy. She doesn't think she'll be able to keep it together if she dwells on the fact that it is killing him.
What's more unnerving is how dependent and addictive he's become to the suit. He doesn't recall the physical act of putting it back on, but was hyper aware of it simultaneously... It was like scratching my nose... something so natural, without given a second thought. The level of danger has increased considerably, and she's frightened. She feels she is close to losing the one thing she cares about, the one person she loves. To spend years pining for this man, finally able to confess her emotions, making an intimate connection, only for it to be wrenched from her fingers hours later... it's unfair. And it scares her.
Why would I ever want to remove the suit?
Words penetrate her thoughts. Her stomach drops and she stops breathing. She nearly loses her cool at such a comment. Now is not the time for jokes, is what she wants to say... but she's relieved to hear him be so witty about the situation. Reminding her that he's still in there, the essence of his personality hasn't diminished, that.. that thing hasn't destroyed the man completely. Not yet.
"Your sense of humor isn't going to be what saves you, Tony." But she appreciates the effort to try and lighten their circumstance. Perhaps she is a little too tense.
The promise and confidence he exerts is comforting, but it isn't as assuring. The stakes are high and threat is imminent. If the two of them couldn't solve the problem of reprogramming the suit to repair human tissue, who or what else could? Is she doomed to forever love a man encased in iron? Never to experience his touch, the warmth from his body, and the light of his smile.
"I'll whip something up..." she's reluctant to move at first, afraid that if she does, she may not see him again. "Tony..." Pepper pauses at the door, unsure on what to say, and yet she knows exactly what needs to be said. "Please be careful..." I love you.
The redhead disappears with Jarvis in tow, her nerves anxious, stomach churning. It only takes a few minutes to create an isosolution. Fifteen tops. Something inside warns her to leave. Get out. Run. But she pushes through, ignoring her better instincts, returning to Tony.
Jarvis offers the nutritional isosolution on a platter, "Your bespoke repast, Sir," with Pepper standing alongside.

Tony turns at the sound of Pepper's voice, his movement's robotic and unnatural. His knees turning in more than normal, and his hands held up at strange angles.
It took a moment to realize that things weren't right. It almost felt like he'd been woken up, and all the words being said to him, and the panic behind them were just coming into his brain sounding like that 'womp womp womp' sound the parents in the peanuts cartoons make.
When he finally processed that she was asking why he had the suit on. But he didn't have the suit on.
Did he?
He brought his hands to his face, trying to touch his skin, but it was just metal on metal. "Am I-- I'm wearing the suit?"
Everything happening so quickly around him, but he's thinking through soup. "I ... I remember my hand had stopped hurting, but then my legs and my head started to hurt instead. I know I did it, but I didn't even notice myself putting the suit back on. It was like scratching my nose," he explained, as he followed after Pepper. The liquified skin and flesh dipping from his suit and leaving a trail behind him. All that was true, what he said. How could he not remember putting it on? "Isn't that strange?"
Pepper is explaining to him that they can't take the suit off, and he knows this is all bad. This is as bad as it could be. He might die in this suit. The suit might kill him. But Pepper looks so worried and Jarvis is as pale as sheet. He needs to lighten the mood.
"Obviously I'm concerned. But Pepper... Why would I ever want to remove the suit?"
He waits a few beats, letting the horror take over both Pepper and Jarvis, and he smiles. A smile he forgets they can't see.
"Pepper! I'm kidding! It may have taken my skin, but I've still got my trademark sense of humor. But honestly, since the suit's all that's keeping me alive, I think I'm going to stay in it if it's all the same to you."
He moved to his computer and started to type. He needs to get them out of here. Its dangerous to be here with him like this. If he's doing things without realizing it, what would stop him from hurting them. He needs to isolate until it's solved. "It's still me in here, and we can still fix this. I promise. But, huh, given the circumstances, it might be better if I ate something more regenerative, Pepps. Can you and Jarvis pull together a nutritional isosolution? The lab downstairs has everything we need."

"Working Conditions: Two-room, low-rise office (with kitchen, balcony and extensive garden). Please note: The isoSolutions offices n̲e̲v̲e̲r̲ contain radioactive materials."
Well that's a very specific denial.

Pepper was soundly asleep, having given every ounce of energy in trying to solve Tony’s problem until her body quite literally shut down. So, it’s with a slight start that she wakes to find Jarvis stirring her and not Stark. “Jarvis…” her voice rasps before it’s cleared.
She’ll lift her head, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and noticing then that her shoulders are covered by a blanket. A small smile tugs at her lips as to who put it there.
“Mr. Stark… he…” she glances towards where he was—or rather, where she last saw him. “Well, he was there… I’m sure he’s around.” But something inside is warning her, a feeling she can’t explain. Perhaps it’s the silence that worries her. It’s eerily quiet.
“You haven’t heard from him at all, Jarvis?” Clearly, if Tony were in the lab, they’d both find him, but her eyes have scanned the entire area. The only sign of the engineer having been in the room is the equations left behind and a mess of equipment. Perhaps he’s within the vicinity? Pepper pushes off from the desk and stands. An intangible force is telling her to move. Go. Run.
She ignores it.
“I’m going to check over here..” the redhead makes her way into the hallway. There’s a door ajar and a light coming from inside. She approaches the threshold, slowly opening to step within.
An audible gasp slips from her lips and her hand immediately flies up to cover her mouth as she stares in horror. What am I seeing?!
What am I SEEING??
“Tony!” This can’t be real… “Tony please tell me you didn’t!” The color from her face drains when the liquid dripping from the seams of his suit are made apparent.
“Tony… why the hell did you put the suit back on?” She moves over to a computer screen, analyzing the data. His flesh… it’s his body. Just as the gauntlet had dissolved his hand, it’s done the same with his entire physique. She feels nauseous. “Your skin… it’s gone… everywhere.” Her voice is shaky, the realization that the man she loves is trapped within an iron shell—one that could easily destroy him and has to some extent— terrifies her. A gut wrenching type of fear. “—We can’t remove the armor. Not as things stand.. it’ll kill you.”
