The Eclipse

The eclipse did something weird to me.

I mean, the weed probably helped, but still. Anyway, I wanted to leave my jumbled thoughts about it somewhere in the internet void.

We only got a partial eclipse, but it was still an incredible experience. As it was reaching towards its zenith, the sky darkening as though materializing a perfect sheet of clouds, the air around us began to rumble with the echoes of a low growl... a train passing through the area at the perfect time.

Almost every time I go outside, no matter where I'm going, I run into just... the most unpleasant behaviour from the people around me. A rant for another time. But on this day... somehow, it just seemed to stop. That is to say, it no longer felt like it was happening every few steps we took.

All this to say... on the day of the eclipse, I felt alive. I suddenly felt like all of the struggling I've done to survive, the constant thwarting of mental health problems, daily overstimulation...

I finally felt like all of that was worth it to experience something.

And now...

I have a reason to live.

To see a complete eclipse.

And even more, to chase eclipses. I yearn to travel the world now more than ever*.

I've faked optimism before; let me just say, "fake it 'til you make it" is actual BS. But this... this felt like optimism. And my first real taste as an adult, clearly.

This fixes zero issues in my material life, but it definitely helped give me a truly personal goal to work towards.

Just saw that there won't be a pre-download for BG3 😔 I understand why but since the game drops at 5 PM — and it'll take hours for the game to download — I probably won't get around to playing it before Friday 😔
