Ah, another Odette song that also gets stuck in my head constantly. Odette is often the observer in social settings. It's a role she mostly doesn't mind! People are fascinating and her relatively isolated upbringing makes her feel like a late bloomer socially and it is nice to study in the field. Most often it is the easy affection between long-term lovers that draws her attention. That sort of relationship is complicated when Odette pictures it for herself; something she both desperately yearns for and yet rejects. To see people who so obviously know and see one another is!! Bittersweet.
